the announced matches:

rock / hogan: i'll say rock. i'll also say this will be a damn entertaining match. hogan's lost when he has to improvise a match himself but pat patterson is rumored to be involved in the scripting. he was responsible for hogan /warrior back wm 6. plus, it will send the crowd home happy.

jericho / triple h: hunter, with help from hall and nash. the nwo needs the best bad guy in the business. when they spray paint the belts, you got a puh-poison. (the kool g rap version, not bel biv devoe!)

austin / hall: i want to say hall in order to make the nwo more of a threat, but given this match's rumored position on the card (according to the observer) and my other predictions, i almost want to say austin. with big kev in his corner, i don't see how lone wolf austin can beat him alone. i'll stick with hall.

regal / van dam: rvd! rvd! rvd! hopefully after the split the IC title will mean something again.

undertaker / flair: i really don't know. if anyone is going to break taker's wrestlemania streak, a legend like flair is the most likely candidate. mcmahon will get involved at some point and that's about all i'm willing to say.

kane / angle: angle. kane's one of my favorite wrestlers and all, but angle.

the likely matches:

booker t. / edge: this could be a very, very good match. book's been in the fed long enough to have that "wwf style" and get used to the ring. i'll go with booker getting the win because i think he needs it more. hopefully this won't be the last match between the two.

tag title?: the title will change hands. the observer says it will be billy and chuck vs. the hardys vs. the dudleys vs. the apa. hell if i know.

jazz / lita: lita gets destroyed but picks up the title.

matches i'd like to see:
tajiri / kidman for the cruiserweight title: kidman gets the gold and real life fiance tori wilson. then they invite me into their marriage.

christian / lance storm: storm gets the win and ddp makes his second non-wrestling 'mania appearance, despite having a title.

golddust / tazz: put the god damn belt on tazz already.

okay, there's my take. and here's my humble request for you to keep smark-ass comments at a minimum - there are seventeen other threads for you to bitch to the choir.

Hogan vs Rock Rock wins I don't care how much Pat Patterson is involved in this match its not WM6 its WM18 and Hogan was never a great worker... Once the bandana comes off and the shades reality will hit if it hasn't already Monday Night when Vince gives it away FOR FREE on TV with the Handicap Match...

Stephanie by way of proxy With Y2J vs HHH... Well what can be said about this potential train wreck that hasn't already been said... I am holding out hope in the last hours as we head into Mania that this isn't the SWERVE where Stephanie and HGH have fooled us into thinking they really hate each other but did this so HGH could win the belts at Mania...

Because if thats the case its just not good for business...It just reinforces the fact that there are only 2 guys in the entire promotion as babyfaces that people will take seriously as legit threats to a Heel HGH Rock & Austin... Nobody would take Jericho seriously as a threat and nobody does now given the fact that Stephanie gets more tv time than the champion, RVD is not ready and even if he was who elimintated him in the Rumble in SHORT ORDER??? Edge isn't a threat yet Kane is not Champion over, Undertaker if turned is over but for 34.99 per ppv in the future HE AINT THAT OVER...

If they turned a Kurt Angle the Only way our Olympic Hero Kurt Angle can beat HGH is when Stephanie slams a Ref into a cage slams said cage door into HGH's head hits HGH with 2 chairshots one in the ass and then gets dragged out of the ring by none other than Stepahnie... Booker T gets face pops for the spinarooni if they turned him see Kurt Angle from a legit threat standpoint...

Stephanie isn't the devil but she is no better than Greg Gagne,Erik Watts,Dustin Rhodes & Mike& Chris Von Erich... And not unlike Verne,Bill,Dusty and Fritz when you let family have a prominent run and they are NOT TALENTED your business suffers...

Kurt Angle vs Kane Angle has to go over...

Undertaker vs Flair WHY???? I'm not saying the buildup hasn't been good...

Edge vs Booker for the shampoo contract I'll take Booker with hopes that it pushes Edge over the Edge and he reunites with Christian...

Tag titles anyone but the APA who seem to be in the doghouse... Last yr we had a TLC match fo the belts this yr we have Chuck&Billy...

Regal vs RVD I would assume they put it on Rob but I could be wrong...

There is no such thing as Old School or New School...There is only one School either you get it or you don't...

From Wrestling Observer, the final Wrestlemania card:

    *Hulk Hogan vs. Rock
*Chris Jericho vs. HHH for Stephanie's title
    *Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall
    *Ric Flair vs. Undertaker
*William Regal vs. Rob Van Dam for IC title
    *Kane vs. Kurt Angle
    *Edge vs. Booker T
*Four-way for tag titles with Billy & Chuck vs. Hardys vs. APA vs. Dudleys
*Jazz vs. Trish Stratus vs. Lita for womens title
*DDP vs. Christian for European title
*Test & Mr. Perfect & Lance Storm vs. Rikishi & Albert & Scotty 2 Hotty (at this point the plan is for this match on Heat)

My predictions:

The Rock defeats Hulk Hogan
Chris Jericho defeats Triple H to retain the Undisputed WWF Title
Scott Hall defeats Stone Cold Steve Austin
Ric Flair defeats the Undertaker, ending his Wrestlemamia winning streak
Rob Van Dam defeats William Regal to capture the Intercontinental Title
Kane defeats Kurt Angle
Booker T defeats Edge, with Christian and Edge reuniting after the match
Billy & Chuck defeat the APA, Dudleys and Hardys to retain the Tag Team Titles
Trish Stratus defeats Jazz and Lita to capture the Women's Title
Diamond Dallas Page defeats Christian to retain the European Title
Rikishi & Scotty II Hotty & Albert defeat Mr. Perfect & Test & Lance Storm on Heat

-Rock beats Hogan to send the fans home happy
-Special guest referee Shawn Michaels screws Jericho out of the title. He and Hunter join the nWo, leading to Hogan's eventual dismissal from the Kliq World Order, face turn, and retirement match.
-Hall beats Austin with a little help from his friends.
-Flair goes over Taker
-RVD gets the IC title which he so richly deserves. I predict he will even kick out of the "Power of the Punch."
-Angle over Kane
-Edge goes over Booker by way of interfertence from Christian, leading to a reunion.
-The Hardyz will win the titles. My reason for this prediction has to do with something I remember hearing about Jeff wanting to put off the split so he and Matt can have a go as heel champs. I predict they go over at WM, turn heel somehow, and go into yet another feud with the now face Canadianz.
-Trish gets her title back. In fact this could be the catalyst for the Hardyz' heel turn, starting with a Lita heel turn after she loses in this match.
-Why in the blue hell are Christian and DDP facing off, I thought they were friends? Anyway DDP retains.
-Fat Ass, Worm, and Hippo win the heat match.

good call about jeff mentioning his desire to turn heel. if they can actually be heels that will liven up the division. i'd love to see them have a go at it!

Maybe DDP will say something like "OK Christian, it's time to see how muched you've learned so far. I'll give you a shot at my title at Wrestlemania."

Rock beats Hogan
Jericho beats Triple H
Hall beats Austin
RVD beats Regal
Kane beats Kurt Angle
Edge beats Booker
Dudleys win the 4 way
Trish wins the 3 way
Christian beats DDP
Rikishi and company beat Test/Perfect/Storm

Seems kinda light for a 4 hour show. I can't see any matches other than the top 3 going more than 20 minutes each. If those 3 get 20 minutes a piece that's 60 minutes. I could see RVD/Regal, Edge/Booker, Kane/Kurt, and the tag match eating up 15 minutes a piece, that takes up another hour. You gotta figure the other 3 matches are going to be under 10 minutes each. That's only 2.5 hours out of a 4 hour show. Is it reasonalbe for backstage stuff and intros to eat up the remaining 1.5 hours?

Hogan V Rock:

Trends: Rock keeps losing at Wrestlemania. New hands never start out with big wins, Hogan included.

Pick: Rock wins. This is sort of a "make-up" for Rocks WM main event losses. He gets to beat down Hogan at the show Hogan made.

--------

Jericho V HHH:

Trends: Heel has walked away from WM with the title the last two years. HHH is doing the boss' daughter and that's probably helping him get pushed.

Pick: Stephanie turns face and helps HHH win title. Basically, they are wrapping up the "Helmsley faction" angle here. I expect they are gonna take Steph off-camera, but there's no way she leaves without a face turn first. HHH will now work a solo program as the face champ.

---------

Austin V Hall:

Trends: Austin doesn't lose at WM. New hands never start out with big wins.

Pick: Austin all the way.

---------

Flair V Undertaker:

Skinny: Flair is old and looks it. Undertaker doesn't lose at WM.

Pick: nWo run-in. Undertaker joins nWo. They all beat on Flair. This leads to the split.

---------

The rest of the stuff is anyone's guess.

I don't think the show is actually 4 hours in length. It's close to same as the other 11 PPV's, but they buy the fourth hour because the last two years they have had a little bit of an overrun and they want to accomodate for it. That's my guess, anyway.

EDIT: There still is no match for the Hardcore Title, so Golddust may have a match. And I'm also guessing Maven will be there in some capacity.

I'll use the Bucs Fan's Observer card line-up but only predict matches I'm interested in.

Rock-Hogan - Probably Rock to send the fans home happy, as has been said above.

Y2J-HHH, if there's going to be a split, then HHH as I really think the 50-50 divorce split will include on of the titles in that scenario. I'd love to see Jericho win though. I have this wacky feeling that this is kinda like the Immunity Battle royal as a predictor of the main event. If a heel wins here then a face will go over in Rock-Hogan, or vice versa.

Austin-Hall. Austin. Because he's a super face that can beat down all three of the nWo (but only on Thursdays) so he should take care of one of them . I hate super faces though.

Flair-Taker. I think this also depends on of they'll split the fed or not. If they do, I could see them having MacMahon interfere and lead to Flair losing brutally and having that as the impetus for Flair to demand a split on Raw.

Regal-RVD. RVD, because it's about damn time.

Angle-Kane. If it's even half as tense as the time when Angle made Kane tap out on Raw, this will be great. I think Angle will win, hopefully through Pete Rose interference .

I hope the Hardys win and turn heel as Yun mentioned above, that would be cool. However, I reckon B&C will retain.

Edge-Booker T. I think Booker should win if they ever want him in the main event mix seriously again. By that logic, I pick Edge.

Jazz-Trish-Lita. It's a testament to their efforts that the WWF has three legitimately over females. I think Trish will win as the home country girl.

Wow, that was dangerously close to fantasy booking...

Roll on WrestleMania!

Then roll on Monday so someone can stop by and point out how wrong we all were .

This is short form only. The latest edition of "Being the Bookerman" should be up on Friday, and you'll be able to read the reasoning behind it all then.

Confirmed Matches
HOGAN v. ROCK: Rock
JERICHO v. HHH: Jericho
AUSTIN v. HALL: Hall
REGAL v. RVD: RVD

Probable Matches
FLAIR v. UNDERTAKER: Flair
ANGLE v. KANE: Angle
BOOKER v. EDGE: Booker
APA v. BILLY/CHUCK v. DUDLEYS v. HARDYS: Hardys
JAZZ v. LITA v. TRISH: Trish

Possibilities
CHRISTIAN v. DDP: DDP
RIKISHI/ALBERT/SCOTTY v. TEST/PERFECT/STORM: Test/Perfect/Storm

Hulk Hogan vs. Rock: Rocky wins to send 'em home happy. If not, expect a rain of trash from the crowd.

Chris Jericho vs. HHH: Jericho wins with help from Princess, ensuring another 12 months of Shrieking Silicone on our TVs.

Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall: Hall wins via screwjob. A Hall loss would totally sh*tcan the whole NWO angle.

Ric Flair vs. Undertaker: 'Taker wins. The WM win streak continues, as does the best-booked feud on the card.

William Regal vs. Rob Van Dam for IC title: RVD wins with the Van Terminator, and hopefully buries the "Power Of The Punch" gimmick for good.

Kane vs. Kurt Angle: Angle wins. I expect this one to be pretty brutal (in the good way).

Edge vs. Booker T: Two good wrestlers stuck in an Insta-Feud. Booker wins, but Edge gets it back when Christian runs down for a post-match beatdown and E&C reunion.

Four-way for tag titles with Billy & Chuck vs. Hardys vs. APA vs. Dudleys: Blah. The tag division is completely stale right now. I think the Hardys win this one. Why? I dunno.

Jazz vs. Trish Stratus vs. Lita for womens title: Trash Stratus wins the strap.

DDP vs. Christian for European title: DDP retains.

Test & Mr. Perfect & Lance Storm vs. Rikishi & Albert & Scotty 2 Hotty: Dancing Dorks win.

The latest edict sent down from on high ... ------------------------------------------- I think Rock v. Hogan will be an interesting match but Rock will probably win, unless Nash and/or Hall interfere, then Hogan could pull out the W

Austin v. Hall will eventually have a run-in by nWo and Hall will probably get the W

HHH v. Jericho will turn on Steph's participation, and probably end up with Jericho keeping the belt, but I would think that he will get beat up pretty bad in the process

Angle v. Kane - who cares, these 2 aren't gonna start a feud that's gonna last, so what's the point. I say Angle wins

Taker v. Flair will end Undertaker's Mania streak and Vince will end up on the mat in a Figure-4

As far as the other matches, they are just filler so who cares anyway.

I think if I was the last person on Earth, I would still wear pants, because I don't need to look down and have that kind of disappointment each and every day.

Hulk Hogan v. The Rock(c)
For the Love of the little Hulkamaniacs of the World
Prediction: Rock
Why? Because, he's the young beatdown face being abused by the heel and his cronies. If he were facing anyone but Hogan I wouldn't have thought twice about this prediction, but after RAW, I'm sure this is the way it'll go.

HHH v. Chris Jericho w/ Stephanie McMahon(c)
For the Undisputed WWF Championship
Prediction: HHH
Why? First of all, because if he wins, Steph (and probably Jericho by proxy) gets one of the belts. Plus this is the culmination of HHH's --long road back-- which the WWF made such a big deal about. Sorry, Chris, maybe next time.

Scott Hall v. Steve Austin(c)
For the Title of "WWF's Most Lovable Drunkard"
Prediction: Scott Hall
Why? This'll probably be really screwy, but I think Hall goes over. Why? Because a Heel needs to go over in ONE of the main events. Plus it gives momentum to the nWo heading into Rock/Hogan.

The Undertaker v. Ric Flair(c)
For the Honour of the Flair Family
Prediction: The Undertaker
Why? Vince run-in gives the WWF Board of directors second thoughts about their decision involving the ownership situation. A division in how the board feels will lead to the spit.

Rob Van Dam v. William Regal(c)
For the Intercontinental Championship
Prediction: RVD
Why? Because this is the next step for Van Dam on his way to where Chris Jericho is right now. He'll get there eventually, right now this is where he needs to be.

Kane v. Kurt Angle(c)
For Um...The Um...Yeah...Pride
Prediction: Kurt Angle
Why? Kane will have a good go at it, but Angle will put him away. As a lark I say that Pete Rose costs him the match. Go get 'im, Pete!

Booker T v. Edge(c)
For the Shampoo
Prediction: Edge
Why? Edge is on his way up the card, Booker is on his way to staying right where he is. Plus it's Canada, and Lord knows that Keith'd have a fit if the Canadian didn't win in Canada.

Christian v. DDP(c)
For the WWF European Championship
Prediction: Christian
Why? Because this is really Christian's angle. And plus Canada. Yeah.

The Hardyz v. The Dudleyz v. The APA v. BillynChuck (c)
For the WWF Tag Team Championships
Prediction: The Dudleyz
Why? It really pretty much HAS to come down to the Hardyz v. The Dudleyz, and The Hardyz probably won't have Lita at ringside, so the win goes to the team with the present valet.

Lita v. Trish v. Jazz(c)
For the WWF Women's Championship
Prediction: Lita
Why? Trish IS Canadian, and the feud really IS Jazz v. Trish, but I'll pick Lita to mix things up in the division, plus because she's really the only over one in the division besides Trish.

Test, Mr. Perfect and Lance Storm v. Scotty Too Albert and Rikishi(c)
For...God I Don't Know...Being Goofy Looking
Prediction: Test, Perfect and Storm
Why? Test and Storm are Canadian and Perfect is from Minnesota so that's pretty much the same. After the match Albert attacks Scotty and Rikishi saves. Then they dance. Yay for them.

Angle v. Kane - who cares, these 2 aren't gonna start a feud that's gonna last, so what's the point.

okay, i'm not picking on you specifically, just this sentiment, which a lot of people seem to share.

i don't get it. does everything have to be a big blown out angle? grudges, storylines and depth are good things but they aren't the end all be all.

case in point: undertaker vs. hhh. that was just a great fucking match and it happened because neither one of them had a wrestlemania opponent. there were a few run ins and a smashed bike and that was it storyline wise. the two haven't squared off since, either.

does it matter?

and jeez, i hope you were just being goofy excalibur. edge / booker is "for shampoo" as much as jericho / kane was "for coffee".

Umm...Goofy was what I was going for there yeah.

In going with your point, if the matches all have to be FOR something at a PPV, then this match is FOR the shampoo (commercial). Right now Edge is the (c) of Shampoo.

I mean...I really don't think Scott Hall wants the title as WWF's Most Loveable Drunkard...

Hey Notorius, I'm going to have to correct you. They did square off. Did that whole backlash main event just not happen? It might have been a tag match, but Austin and HHH feuded with Taker and Kane for 2 months after WrestleMania. So maybe you just didn't take that into account.

Also, the HHH/Taker match at Wrestlemania wasn't that good. For Undertaker it was a pretty good match, but overall it was pretty average. I was there live. That chokeslam off the platforms looked pretty nasty, but then they showed on the monitors at the dome and the tv's at home how gimmicked it was. Kind of took the fun out of the bump. Then again, I'm not really making any sense b/c I don't think wrestlers should be doing that crap.

heh. sorry about that. i let the "worst episode ever" bunk in other threads get the better of me. ironic since i was the one requesting smark bullshit be left in other threads.

i sit corrected about backlash, too. it was a tag match between "the two man power trip" and the fun brothers where austin and trips picked up the tag team titles.

the next month austin took on undertaker and hunter took on kane, where he lost the IC title. the next raw featured austin / hunter vs. benoit / jericho.

funny, that. i can only assume they would have split them into two matches for the next ppv. i wonder if it would have been benoit / austin and jericho / hunter.
