Liberals sometimes claim to believe in personal freedom, but their concept of liberty seems limited to matters related to sex....Yet outside the sexual realm, liberals are downright illiberal. They want to control every aspect of our lives: what we eat, what we smoke, what we drive, how we defend our homes and families, how much of our own money we're allowed to keep. - James Taranto
The PTI studio is one floor above the ATH studio. I don't know who would be good in Kellerman's spot (Tim Kurkjian comes to mind, then quickly leaves), but I know that I don't like Stat Boy.
It's funny, I couldn't really see Kenny in that role, but everywhere I've been today and everyone I've talked to has immediately mentioned him as a good replacement.
It would be interesting.
They all had such great chemistry with Max though, a real shame to see him go.

Never thought I'd say it, but I hate to see Max go as well. I hated ATH when it started out, but man did that show grow on me, especially after watching it daily while eating dinner in good ol' college dining halls.
BTW, my replacement vote goes to Kenny Mayne.
"She's screaming like crazy...You have this myth you're sharing the birth experience. Unless you're passing a bowling ball, I don't think so. Unless you're circumcising yourself with a chainsaw, I don't think so. Unless you're opening an umbrella up your ass, I don't think so." --Robin Williams on birth
Ditto on Stat Boy, he just tries to hard. At least the real star of ATH, Woody Paige is still there. Paige-a-Mania is runnin wild!
"Huard, gonna go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws towards the corner of the endzone...it is INTERCEPTED INTERCEPTED, THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL! Down to the 35, the 40. Kenny Wheaton's gonna score! Kenny Wheaton is gonna score! 20, the 10, Touchdown! Kenny Wheaton on the interception, the most incredible finish to the football game!" www.eatmyassbeavernation.com
Man this sucks so much. I was wondering where Max has been for the past week. Stat boy is getting better, but he just doesnt cut it, without a suitable replacement ATH is going to get cancled methinks...Lets light this candle...lol...
I'd like to see Bob Ryan host the show.
"The whole Dean anger thing is a bum rap. This guy has his emotions under control," Jon Stewart said as a clip of Dean shouting state names rolled. At the end of the list, Stewart added, "Dean will be driving to all those states - apparently in Truckasaurus, and he will do it on SUNDAY, SUNDAY SUNDAY!"
I immediately thought of Kenny Mayne as well. My second choice would be Matt Winer.
Hell, if Warren Sapp ever retires, I say give the show to him. Okay, maybe not, but I hear Lennox Lewis needs something to do.
Damn you WWE for making me change my sig. I'm sure you have good enough reasons to get rid of Shannon, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Let me thus be the first to say: BRING BACK DAFFNEY!

I wish I had known Max was leaving the show when I was up at PTI a few weeks ago. I would have liked to seen the show before it gets changed.
Whoever gets the gig has to move to DC, so that may be a factor in who they choose.
Yeah, I've been wondering about Mr. Tony's imminent departure. I missed the announcement on the radio. WhatsupwithTHAT?
Also, I liked Reali today, he seemed a lot more relaxed, but I never get to see the show anymore, I sleep during the day.
In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.
Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

Tony is leaving the ESPN show at the end of March. (he originally told me February, so I'm happy for the extra month.)
"too old and too many jobs to keep all of them" is the party line.
Never fear, Tony will back doing local radio in DC by the end of the year (no compete clause), probably on 980 (Andy Polley's station). The good thing is that they stream audio. The better news is that when the new show starts, it may be Tony AND Wilbon on the show.
I couldn't watch ATH because of Kellerman, so this is good news for me. With the right replacement, I might start watching it again. I'm with those who don't think Kenny Mayne would be right for the job, since he's way too goofy (in a good way) and relaxed. Off the current roster, I think Jon Andersen would be a good fit. Steve Levy or Karl Ravitch would also work out well there, but then they'd have to find someone to replace Ravitch on Baseball Tonight when spring returns. The best guy for the job, sadly, is already gone; Rich Eisen would just own in the ATH host role.
Hey, as long as their weeding out the crap, they should get rid of that annoying "disembodied voice", since it's sole purpose seems to be coming with way to say "...round the HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNN"

(edited by Jaguar on 20.2.04 1508) You think WWE now is bad? Some of us had to live through 1993-1996!
I posted the demise of Stripperella MONTHS ago, thanks to a reliable source from toonzone.net. The gist of it is they'll air 6 episodes. After those 6 episodes, the show's history. As for last night. I absolutely hated the new Ren and Stimpy.
