I just hope the programs will be better this week.

Mike Myers was ok, alot of stuff went right over my head and i'm from toronto.

the stand up comedian was just plain AWFUL. I bet 1 killion dollars that guy is NEVER on NBC again. I didnt understand one word he said let alone one joke.

Im a huge Conan fan, and am impressed by the city of Toronto paying him 1 million dollars to do the show there.

Just wasn't happy with the first show.

Wow, I actually enjoyed the show. I thought it was great that he had such a hot (and bigger) crowd, and the humor was pretty standard for a Conan show. I think Mike Myers and Ron James were both really funny. As much as I hate the Leafs, I thought the segment they did with Conan was great too. Oh well, to each their own.

I myself liked the segment where he visits the Maple Leafs. Which is ironically the only segment I caught.

The Don Cherry joke made up for any other inadequacies the show may have had.

He said that no one in the US would get that joke but I got it.

And was it just me or did Tie Domi look like he wanted kick his ass for real.

Tonight's show was much better. That skit with Scott Thompson was gold...."the CN Tower and the SkyDome: sort of like the penis and the vagina of Toronto."

The CN Tower mud(pudding?)wrestling the Space Needle was also hilarious.

Waitif its MLK Jr. Day AND Pat Pattersons Birthdaywho gets the token win here?-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking on a match between Mark Henry and Rico

MH: Whats a clever way to say that I have a penis?
CJ: UhMark, nobodys going to buy that shirt.
MH: How about if I say that Ive gotauh?
CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department.
MH: I know! Ive got it!
CJ: Got what?
MH: Stank! Thats Mah Stank! Im gonna make a fortune!!
CJ: Thats Mah Stank?
MH: On the front itll say Can You Smell It? and on the back itll say Thats Mah Stank. Everybodyll buy it because theyll think its a Rock shirt.
CJ: You knowyou might be on to something there, sad to say.
MH: I cant wait to show mah stank to Trish.

You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didnt quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as Stanky. Think about THAT!

Last nights show was MUCH better...

Even Conan agreed with my take on Americans not understanding any of the previous nights references when he did a CLASSIC bit replaying a snippet of the Mike Myers interview with "american over-dubs". Hilarious!

It was nice to see Micheal J Fox on the show, he hasn't acknowledged his Canadian heritage nearly enough in the past. He looked good, but you can see the effects of his illness, unfourtunatly.

The rest of the show was good. Although I could have done without (ugh) Nickelback...

They had Ron James on the first night? Quel dommage.

He's one of those guys that believes all the hype that says he's the "best comedian in Canada." He's had a couple of different shows written for him and yet none of them have been worth watching.

Compare with Rick Mercer, who I truly hope Conan has on at some point this week: Mercer is truly our brightest young light on the comedy scene; he's personable, intelligent, and doesn't expect one to kiss his ass upon introduction.

Which is ironic in its own way.

It makes sense if you think about it. But not if you really think about it.

Ron James is the WORST stand up comic I have ever seen. Period. I am from Canada and didn't undersatnd a joke he was making. He needs to stick to performing for HIS audience at northern ontario charity casinos where people might actually be drunk or dumb enough to laugh.

To have him as a comedy ambassador from canada is a shame and a shmoz if you ask me.

When he was on (I watched the replay on Comedy Central this afternoon), all I kept thinking is "Geez, this guy is crap. The audience seems to be into it though, maybe I'm just not getting all of the Canadian inside-jokes. Kinda weird that he would do all of these Canadian inside-jokes on an American show, though."

Now I dont feel so bad for not getting any of them.

No one got the jokes.

The audience was laughing either a) because a laughter sign was lighting up or b)it was a nervous laugh, like when you laugh at a funeral.

I loved Scott & Conan at City Hall. Scott mentioned that in Toronto, men can get married...and he & Conan shared a longing look...then awkwardly walked off. Awesomeness.

Last night's segment with Triumph in Quebec did a great job depicting just how devoid of a personality and sense of humor us Quebeccers are. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be one myself.

And then, shock of shocks, the local media was all over this, with people being outraged. To them I say, lighten up!

As a follow up to the last post, apparently Canada has now condemned Conan.

http://news.yahoo.com/ news?tmpl=story2&cid=638& u=/nm/20040213/en_nm/ leisure_canada_conan_dc& printer=1

I didn't see the segment, but what little that they mention in the article sounded like typical Triumph to me. Was it any worse than usual?
