According to WWE.com, Kanyon was released by World Wrestling Entertainment on Monday.

Yeah i gotta thought, and that thought is that TNA is going to rock when Spanky and Kanyon get there!

It kind of sucks, but I'm not surprised. He never got a push in WWE. On the other hand, Raven's in TNA, and they have a back story together.

Edit: Also, his former manager James Vadenberg, collector of odd things is with TNA, as Father Mitchell.

...and I never got to see the purple Mortis costume. Drat. :-(

Good luck to Kanyon, though. I'm certain that he'll be welcomed with open arms wherever he goes. Sucks that the Alliance MVP had to be treated so poorly, considering how talented he is.

Who Betta Than Kanyon? Not the WWE, for sure!

SD2: April, Year 3; what's the point to the Career mode, anyhow?
FF7: Disc 1; 4h into game; en route to the next reactor
FF8: Disc 2; 14h into game; Squall, Rinoa, Quistis vs. Master NORG.

Finally, my site's back online!

This definitely sucks. I don't watch TNA at all, so it'll be a good while before the Alliance MVP entertains me again. Blargh.

Thoughts?

Fuck Vince. Fuck Steph. Fuck the "writers" and "creative" who couldn't come up w/ something for Kanyon to do.

Kanyon's the perfect WWE midcarder - can wrestle, bumps great, has a catchphrase, can talk, is comfortable on camera, has cool moves, and has good size. He can get over as a heel or face, and as an added bonus, has experience as a trainer. They don't want to push him as a single? Fine, team him up w/ O'Haire and stick him in the SD or Raw tag scene, both of which need fresh blood.

He gets hurt, and busts his ass to get back, and gets rewarded by singing Boy George to Taker, then getting chairshotted to hell.

Ernest Miller and John Heidenreich are still on the roster? Orlando Jordan is on the main roster? What the hell is Jordan even doing on the roster? Oooh, Rocky Johnson trained him, big deal. He appears on roughly every other Velocity, maybe a SD every other month. No angles, no stories. His only purpose seems to be "beat WCW buy-out guys". Vince loves Miller's "schtick". Hey, Vince, NOBODY ELSE DOES. Why is he an active wrestler? And John *fucking* Heidenreich? You gotta be kidding me.

Fuck the WWE, and good luck to Kanyon.

EDIT: more Orlando Jordan, Ernest Miller, Heidenreich venting.

HERE! HERE!

Kanyon should be in the IC/US hunt not released. But I am glad he is gone because once he winds up in TNA, then I will have no more excuses to not check it out.

Good luck to you Kanyon. here's hoping the the jarrett's use you better than the McMahons.

Yeah, you lost by 20 seconds (The W), but it looks like you got all the replies, so - call it a draw? ;-)

A real shame. He ate up the competition in OVW when he was here (his program with Johnny Jeter last summer in OVW was fantastic, I thought) and had even done a television promo for what was supposed to be his next appearance - the February 7 OVW Slamfest show. That certainly ties into Stevie Richards taking his place at the show this past Saturday.

I had never watched WCW, so I only really got to know his work when he was here in Louisville and I can't understand what happened here. We can talk all day about who should be gone instead of it, but the main fact is that WWE just lost a great wrestler. Too bad.

Renegade Raine says:

Why is it that the WWE can't SEE talent? ARRRRRG! But, I think Kanyon will be treated a LOT better in probably ANY other federation. So, good luck to him wherever he goes.

But no matter what the WWE does, Kanyon is STILL gonna be in my fanfic, so chew on THAT WWE!

Now...if only I could order PPVs...Raven, Spanky, and Kanyon? Sounds good to me.

Guess no one liked my post ... does my breath stink or something

Looks like Kanyon got his release at a good time ... he can still get involved with the TNA PPV in April.

Why is it that the WWE can't SEE talent?

They can! They just didn't see Kanyon as talent.

Even before the recent style change, WWE's apparently seen Kanyon as a guy who's more intersted in coming up with a new wacky move than telling a story in a match, and they haven't liked that about him. (Tazz indicated this a couple diffenent times on Velocity.)

Maybe this turns out differently if he doesn't hurt his ACL or have the shoulder problem, but middleweight mid card guys being let go because they have no ideas for them is a frequent enough deal in WWE so maybe it would've happened sooner.

At least he's probably well rested and had time to plan this out - that Kanyon would get let go at some point was obvious to all two weeks in to his last return.

Off-topic (slightly)....

Where's all this talk of Spanky being in TNA coming from? Have I missed something? Last I heard he was headed to Japan for a few months.

Also, Kanyon. Will I miss him? Not really. Will anyone? Despite these expletive-littered claims to the contrary, I doubt it. He hasn't been on TV for almost a year, his mainstream career was over in 2001. Is it sad that he's not in the big leagues? I guess. But why should we care, if he's going to go elsewhere and get reated better? Why this stream of hatred? Why why why why why?

You guys puzzle me sometimes.

Yeah, I saw that once I got back to the board. I went to delete, but the topic remained, so I resurrected it. Sorry, Mayhem. You were indeed the quicker draw.

How articulate and mature.

Meh, I can't say it bothers me either way, Kanyon is quite overrated in my opinion. TNA will get another WWE reject, Kanyon will get to wrestle frequently and earn a living, I still won't watch him, everyone wins. I can see him ending up in All Japan or Zero-One in the near future. It's best for both parties concerned.

Because I'd rather see him for free, than have to shell out $$$ to TNA or for ROH tapes (or wherever he ends up).

And I don't think anyone's calling for him to be the world champ, but he'd make a damn good midcarder. Every time I see Rikishi give a stinkface, or Bradshaw doing his poor man's Hansen, or the Cat dancing, or Heidenreich "wrestling", I'll think of Kanyon's release.

In his defense, he maybe appeared on every 4th or 5th Velocity (if he was lucky), so he was probably more concerned with getting over with the crowd in order to earn more air time.

Well a lot of the "hatred" seems to be more like disappointment that WWE cannot find a use for an established character (before his injuries) like Kanyon. As someone stated above, he makes for a good mid-carder to round out the roster and does a good job in wrestling and making his opponent look good. And yet Kanyon gets to do nothing while Vince McMahon "acts" out his sexual fantasies with Sable and Billy Gunn gets put on my TV screen once again, despite having a proven negative track record.

On the other hand, the "headline" for Kanyon's release was quite vague, so we don't know if it was a mutual agreement or another factor involved. In any case, this may be TNA's gain. I'll miss seeing Kanyon in WWE though.

And ROH claims on their 2/8 Locker Room Scoops they got him when he gets back.

Not that he can't do both,I suppose...

Spanky will probably have a similar schedule to Low Ki, in that he'll tour Japan with Zero-One for the most part, and then take random indie bookings. When/if he does turn up in TNA, he won't be there week in, week out, just the occasional appearance in the X division or losing to Jeff Jarrett.

It's been "rumored" that TNA's interested in starting a faction made of WWE castoffs like Spanky, Gowen, and now probably Kanyon. Either way, i'm sure he'll eventually show up in TNA as well.

I was never a huge Kanyon mark but I respected him as a worker. I became a fan of the innovator of offense near the dying days of WCW. Lisp aside, he seems good on the stick, he can work with cruisers or heavyweights, and I always looked forward to his Velocity appearances.

Yeah, I know Vince has this bias towards more "home grown" talent, but I think Kanyon has way more potential to be a star than Orlando Jordan, Jon Heidenreich, or The Cat (hey, he's not even home grown). Another piece of wasted talent.

But on the other hand, for Kanyon though, he could go to TNA and get a bigger role; be in a place where he'll probably be loved and respected more by the company. Then with some indy gigs, and maybe even some Japan gigs, the guy could end up making more money than he ever could in WWE on a lighter schedule.

All the best to Chris in the future. Hopefully he'll have a commentary about all this on his site soon since i'd love to hear what he has to say.

BTW, SOK, there's a pic of purple Mortis in the latest PWI (it's the year-end awards issue if I remember correctly).
