Usually, stuff like this goes in Site Feedback, but 1) it's a reprint from Wrestling, 2) really we're just talking about my admin style here, which pretty much overrules all the other ones that might show up anyway. If you're interested in how any of the matters I've brought up here might pertain to OTHER forums on this board, you might want to speak up here as well. Now then...

I'll try to help!

Actually, I *would* rather have the board SIT HERE than be filled up with mindless useless crap (that isn't written by me).

    3) I'm just not sure how to find the happy medium between 1 and 2.
Occasionally I attempt to show you the area where some boundaries might be found. Even more occasionally, I succeed! Usually, I just roll my eyes and move on silently (no, really! You'd be surprised.)

I would PM you about it, but from having read other threads on the board there seems to be others that share the confusion.
You/everyone is certainly welcome to PM me any time. Sometimes I even answer!

Can you clarify the following for me?
    A) What are accepatable sites for quoting when starting a new thread (in Wrestling anyways.)? I'm seeing 1wrestling, pwinsider = bad. I'm not sure I understand the Torch reference. I'm sure there's some link somewhere that will clue me in, but I'm starting to think there's more to it than that. (Or hoping there is) From seeing other sources, it seems the majority of those are things that were started at one of the above. (I'm sure I'll offend someone there. Sorry. I only have so much time to devote to professional wrestling as much as I enjoy it.)
There seem to be - and this is probably wildly off and more a result of me having to read 47 threads to catch up from last Wednesday more than noticing any trends or anything so take it with the appropriate grains of salt - there SEEM to be a lot of discussions around here that get based on "facts" presented by "news" sites. And the truth is, these sites SUCK at presenting an actual bona-fide account of The Way Things Is, but when they get repeated enough times, there ARE people who will take it as gospel, especially the more gullible people who believe EVERYTHING they read, then pass it on, and so on, and so on. I want to nip ALL this in the bud. So, yeah, I'd really appreciate it if all the 1wrestling blurbs were left on 1wrestling, the 411 stuff was left over on 411, various reviewers' workrate ratings NOT used as if they were authoritative beyond one person's opinion, and I've probably said all this before but maybe not all in the same paragraph - or maybe not this month, anyway.

If you have something you want to talk about, great! But if what you're posting is a REACTION to something you read on 1wrestling - well, I'd really rather you just kept it to yourself and waited until you had something GENUINE to form your opinions around. Or you could just go to www.1wrestlingtalk.com and save all of us some grief.

Now, even that isn't a hard and fast RULE - if somebody wants to drag something over from 1wrestling and then immediately point out how they distorted/embellished what was ACTUALLY reported in the Observer (for example) so we can all ridicule them, then that's perfectly all right, and in fact quite amusing. But even there it might be better to take it into Site Bashing than have it here.

Wbat I'd really like here is stuff that at least gives the appearance to other readers that maybe, like, there was some thought behind it, like examples can be produced to back up any assertions made, or that opinions are ready to be changed with the right kind of counterargument from somebody else, or who knows. If you're not interested in THINKING, then by all means head over to some other forum and participate in the latest "add on to the story" thread or drop your Big List in the List of Big Lists thread, or make some joke about some in-joke that nobody cares about but you and two other guys who find intentional misspellings of workers' names hilarious, epic comedy.

    B) If not, is this just mainly a spot for discussing Raw, SD, etc.? and not so much the wrestlers (The reason I exclude the wrestlers, is that the Randy Orton is the greatest type of posts seem to be frowned on as well)
I actually don't mind those "x is the greatest" posts IF you can back it up. Also if you're not doing it EVERY time you post. Other people - who are not admins, I must note - seem to have a problem with those types of posts, but I think discussion of why someone is liked or not liked is good stuff that can generally be backed up without resorting to bogosity (at least the first few go-rounds ;-) )

Obviously, giving your opinion of the show, or calling attention to something you think a lot of people might have missed is STRONGLY encouraged, since that was my big thing *I* did, and since I want everyone to be more like me, that's dynamite.

I could do without weekly Smackdown spoilers, myself, but I've given up on that fight because too many people seem bound and determined to talk about shows BEFORE they happen and I think the no-spoiler crowd has kinda given up too. Me, I don't see the point in it, but again that's just me so on this one, I won't force people - I would HOPE that they can keep the spoilers spoilers between Tuesday and Thursday if they can, of course.

    C) If I'm looking to discuss wrestling (and honestly that's where the majority of my interest for this board comes in) is this not the place to do it?

I know there's a faq, but would it be possible to do soemthing like a topic faq? These are accepted things (or unaccepted) for this topic. Or do we need to accept that you're OK with the way things are going?
As long as there's a Wrestling forum, it should be okay to discuss wrestling in it, yes. I like to think I'm pretty good at speaking up when I think things AREN'T okay - or at least far enough that I feel I have to throw some weight around.

But please, please, PLEASE, if someone is trolling, or posts an ad, or something you KNOW I will eventually delete...just LEAVE IT ALONE. DON'T respond to it. All you do is increase my workload and make me annoyed at YOU instead of the TROLL. There are several repeat offenders I have sent PMs to - please don't ignore those. For the love of God and if you have ANY love for me at all, I AM BEGGING YOU NOT TO RESPOND.

Okay. I'll close it up here, and stick this in CRZ's World too, and we can argue more about it there if you want.

I'd like to say I spent WAY too much time typing all that, but I hope it's at least helpful to SOMEBODY.

I went and looked up "bogosity" because I thought you had made that word up. Silly me, I should not have questioned the master wordsmith. So, I learned a new word today!

I only hate it when it's been done a thousand times over the last two years, is that so wrong?

For the little that its worth I don't mind provided either

a) the person posting it is relatively new and may have had the good fortune to miss discussion 1 through 999

or

b) the thread tries to discuss a weel worn point from a different angle.

Either way I have no great problem with just skipping threads willy nilly and indeed on a whim, as long as the place isn't flooded with silliness.

And now I must find out what bogosity means.....

Since this is Ask Your Dictator, I have an off topic question for Chris regarding the computer industry:

Is there anyway that they could attempt to recapture the glory of the Y2K scare with some other fraudulent idea, thus causing businesses to have to spend mucho cash to fix problems that don't exist, and causing Silicon Valley to rise again. Perhaps a Y2K7 type scam?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm not sure I buy that Y2K was the catalyst for the Valley's rise to greatness, but I'll answer "no" because surely they would have tried it already if the answer WASN'T "no." Besides, the UNIX rollover won't happen until 2038 (en.wikipedia.org).

One of the team leads here gave me two of his ties that he was throwing out. Here's the first one; you'll probably see the other one tomorrow.
