Killian's Irish Red sucks. These stupid St. Patrick's commercials are a farce. "Anyone Can Feel Irish with a Cold Killian's!" It's brewed in Colorado, fer Pete's sake. Personally, I'll be spending my St. Patrick's Day in Galway with a REAL Irish beer, thank you. One that's black, black and creamy. Mmmm...

Ever had a real pint of Guiness in Ireland before? It is so utterly different to the Guiness you get anywhere else in the world it's unbelievable. Stronger, smoother, tastier. Just better. Mmmmm indeed.
Enjoy yourself, anyway!

Never been a big fan of Guiness, but Harp, there's a good beer. Mmmmmm, Harp.
Killian's isn't bad. I certainly don't consider it an IRISH beer tho.
My favourite beer is currently the Bluegrass Brewing Company's (BBC) Hell for Certain. It's a seasonal microbrewed ale that they finally bottled and sold in Liquor Outlets etc., rather than just having it on tap at the restaurant.
Now if only I could get some Gordon Biersch Muertzen out here . . .
Killian's isn't bad, really, but I don't know. It leaves something to be desired, for me anyway. It's just... indistinct. It lacks personality. It's Budweiser, one shade darker. I have love for the Newcastle, though.
The closest I've had to real Guinness is in Oxofrd, England. The stuff you get here in the States, esp. canned or bottled, just doesn't hold a candle. I actually think those "draught bottles" are worse than the canned draught. Anyone tried the Sam Adams Cream Stout? I'm kind of on the fence about that one. The aftertaste is weird. I've yet to decide if that's good or bad.

I've found that if you go against the directions on the bottle, and pour it into a glass instead of drinking it straight from the bottle, it tastes a LOT better.
Another beer that I'm quite fond of right now is Shiner Hefeweisen. If anyone likes lighter beers, you should definitely check it out.

The taps in Ireland are powered by Nitrogen as opposed to CO2. Hence you get a better pour there. Some taps in America are similarly equipped. I know of at least one pub in this area (MOBTOWN) that has a nitrogen tap. I have yet to get out there (stupid f'n suburbs) but it's definitely on my menu. Just call some irish pubs around town and someone should have it. Unless you live in like, Alabama. Which is sad in and of itself.

Best Beer I have ever had Crosely's Red brewed by the Oldenberg Brewery in Florence, KY. Its a full, dark, really red beer that tastes incredible.
Sam Adams Golden Pilsner is really good too. But yeah, Killians sucks as far as red beers go. Red Dog is better than Killians in that category and cheaper too!
When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.
My wife an I miss the Oldenburg restaurant here in town now that it's closed. I also saw where the one near Bogart's in Cincinnati was shut down. Is there still one open in Newport or Florence? We'll be in town for They Might Be Giants next month and would like to eat there if they've got one.
I believe "The Field" in San Diego is similarly equipped with the special tap, but I could be confusing it with another place. I know I had a good Guiness somewhere, but I can't remember where.

The CO2 definitely makes it more bitter.
*I* should probably throw it out there that I personally dig the taste of CO2 Guiness as is. I like my beer like I like my women...Bitter and Thick. Oh, wait- no.
