Warning: This post (thread?) will be spoileriffic.

I'm surprised no one else has made a thread to discuss the awesomeness of this game.

I finally beat the game as both light side and dark. I should have played Dark Side first, since the ending was rather depressing. I went way too evil too quickly. If I had known how easy it was to amass dark side points, I don't think I would have taken the blatant kill everyone approach, probably opting for a slightly less-evil approach. As it was, I think I played a rather Chaotic Evil character, which while it served my purposes, isn't my style.

I was impressed with how one's decisions could affect whole planets. I wish I had known that poisoning the giant Firaxis would get you kicked off of Manaan (especially since that prevented my from finishing the Genoharadran quests). The difference in the Kashyyk events was surprising. The dark side ending, with the Czerka slavers triumphing and Freyyerr winding up dead, and Zaalbar's response to it all was really depressing. After playing the Light Side, and earning the respect of the Selkath and the Wookiees, the bitterness with which they react to your actions was affecting. Other than that, though, I was disappointed that there wasn't much difference between the light side and dark side quests on the main planets.

I was disappointed on Korriban. Both times I visited that planet after finding out I was Revan, and when I played Light Side, I SO wanted to hit the planet and pull rank and kick everyone's ass. It was disappointing that none of the Sith believed you (believable), but it was nice to beat them down.

The one person I didn't get to beat down was Carth, though. As I was listening to him whine and bitch on the light side quest, I kept thinking I couldn't wait to kick his ass. When I finally turned dark at the top of the Ancient Temple on the Unknown Planet (I was surprised that Jolee FINALLY decided to take a stand at that point. I had gotten used to his neutral warnings and minimal actions) and returned to the party, Carth just ran off. I would have liked some sort of resolution to his actions, too. He seems fairly resourceful, and if he can find pockets of survivors like the Duros that run out after you first encounter the Rakata, he seems like he might be able to get off the planet, especially since the disruptor field is disabled. Encountering Carth on the Star Forge looking to single handedly stop everything would have been fun. When he ran, I had Force Lightning and Kill. Why couldn't I have stopped him? I want to make him suffer!

I killed Juhani in the grove, and I was surprised at how the Jedi Master's tried to make you feel guilty. Frankly, the thought of knowing that I'd never fill her square in the party selection screen was guilt-racking enough, but I'm an RPG completist. I also liked the touch of Belaya running off and joining the Sith as a response to your actions.

I liked the dissension between Mission and Zaalbar on the issue of whether or not to follow dark Revan. I took the option of telling Zaalbar to kill Mission, which is just SO evil. I'm kinda glad he didn't follow through. I liked Zaalbar on the light side, but after killing his father, he was so bitter towards me, that I was kinda glad to kill him and put him out of his misery.

I was also disappointed in Canderous. He's still one of the most awesome characters in the game, and I understood how following a light side jedi might make an aging warrior reflect on his life with questions. But I would have thought following dark Revan, he wouldn't be so melancholy and reflective, even after the Jagi incident. He should have been all gung-ho to be working for such an evil and awesome boss. Instead he just plans to retire shortly. Feh! I should have "mercy"-killed him, so as to leave his reputation as a great warrior untarnished.

HK-47 is AWESOME! I didn't like him at first, but once I ran around with him in my party, he easily has become one of my favorite characters. Its all about a dark-side party consisting of evil Revan, Canderous, and HK.

T3 is cute. I enjoy the R2-D2 vibe. My only complaint is that he's slow. Although I was surprised at how effective he was at disposing at some of the Dark Jedi. A few times in the Sith base on Manaan, I wouldn't be paying attention and everyone would die in my party except him. So I'd have him run back far enough that he could heal and split the Jedi up, and then one by one take them out.

I'm disappointed that there's no way to get Darth Bandon or Calo Nord into your party. Especially Nord. I loved his exchange with the Rodians in the Cantina when you first meet him. Then, when you approach him, he starts the couting routine again. Awesome.

Malak is okay as a villain. I like how the reveal his distinct lack of a mouth. He plays all the "I'm really evil" cards, but lacks any good lines, or especially a sense of humour. The best villains enjoy being evil. I'm sure he enjoyed it, but he seemed to take it too seriously.

And both times, I fell for Bastila. I didn't like her at first, but for some reason I was compelled to see where the love options would take you, and I was surprised and a little disappointed by the whole 'we should just be friends' conversation in the control room. (I got her to kiss me when I went dark side, and even then she STILL thought it best to be friends.) Maybe its the whole theory that the more she resists the more one falls for her, or just watching her warm up to you makes one warm up to her, but even when I went dark side, I couldn't kill her. I didn't want to.

I know I use the word 'disappointing' a lot in this post, but don't mistake that for me being disappointed with the game. Even before I got off of Taris I could tell that this was easily the best game of the year, and at no point did it prove me wrong. The story is deep (the swerve that you are Revan is right up there with the Sixth Sense! Especially playing through a second time, its easy to see all the hints that were dropped... I just wish that when you're dark side you could more quickly accept that you are Revan, instead of waiting until the confrontation with Bastila to reclaim your identity.) and the characters are fleshed out. I've already spent 85+ hours on two play-throughs, and I'm seriously considering playing through again as a woman to see what I missed out on by virtue of my gender. (Supposedly if you get Carth to love you you can kill him, and Juhani is a lesbian? Plus, I haven't been able to listen to Jolee's stories through to the end. I suppose killing him didn't help much with that.) This game is amazing, and any nitpicking I make is that of a fan-boy who has thought about this waaay too much about KotOR.

They need to make this into a movie. Maybe a trilogy, with the first movie the escape from Taris, the second starting just after your Jedi training and featuring the quest for the Star Maps concluding with Bastila's capture and the Revan revelation, and the third destroying the Star Forge -- or reclaiming your throne? It would be awesome if in the next movie there's a brief reference to the ancient tale of Revan, and either how he turned from light to dark to light, or how they tried to remake him and instead only brought greater darkness to the galaxy.

Anyway, I've gone on way too long about this. Maybe I'll start my third game now.

Time to go kick more light side ass, KotOR style!

I was dissapointed, too. My friend and I played it over the summer, but we only got about 12 hours into it before losing all interest and returning it to EB. Due to all th hype, I was expecting the greatest RPG ever, but I found it pretty dull in every respect.

I'm a big fan of all the BioWare PC games and their relatively open-ended gameplay, and I was looking forward to similar gameplay set in a Star Wars universe, but I found KOTOR lacking in that department. It seemed like every single decision you had to make in the game went like this:

A) I'll save this person (or find this item, etc) out of the goodness of my light side heart, and while I'm at it I'll pet this orphanned space kitty, because I'm so good!
B) Meh, I don't really care what happens to these people, because I'm so neutral. I guess I'll help out if it involves money in my pocket, but other than that, leave me alone.
C) DIE DIE DIE! I'LL KILL YOU ALL BECAUSE I'M SO EVIL! WHY AM I SO EVIL, YOU ASK? THERE'S NO REASON! I JUST LIKE KILLING!!!!

I really enjoyed games like Baldur's Gate 2, where the set of options wasn't quite as clear-cut.

None of the quests really captured my interest either, and combat felt clunky and wasn't very fun. I know it's Star Wars, but the diologue and presentation of the story was a bit too cheesy for my taste, and the fact that each race only had about 2 character models made the game feel even less exciting.

I guess I can understand why the game is so highly regarded, especially with all the plot twists, love plots, etc, but it just failed to live up to what I want in an RPG.

I suppose I just got caught up in the hype, which usually leads to dissapointment. I wont refute that it was the best RPG of the year, but I haven't played a great RPG since I imported Shenmue 2. Owing to the fact that it didn't do so well in the States, I might have to conclude that my taste in RPGs are just different than the majority.

I wouldn't really call Shenmue a Rpg, but no doubt its beyond great. People who even had heard of this game are fe and far between in seems.

I really liked Kotor....I think the Storyline is better than any Lucas made film, except the first Movie and Empire Strikes Back. I like the fact that Npcs actually add to the story and gameplay. I like the clear difference between good and Evil. My favorite part of the game though...Is the first time I played as a light side jedi I actually was tempted by the dark path many times. I kind of agree that full dark side is pretty much psycho and a bit overthe top.

Well no, I guess not. But trust me, if you had taken the time to listen then you would only have wanted to kill him all the more.

I too went to the time and effort to go through as good and EEEEVILLL and was thoroughly impressed by the number of different paths you could take. Especially natty was the nice touch of the greying skin and the growing red mist surrounding you on the inventory screen.

Leaving the wookies to a life of slavery owned all, especially in that you could return to the planet later and find it a different place. I still can't figure out how to avoid getting light side points when you have the option of handing over the diary that proves the murdered wookie was evil thoug. Either way you seemed to get a little of A, a little of B.

I was mildly disappointed by my inability to wreak random havoc upon people once I was bona fide evil. I sooooo wanted to inflict pain upon the judges at my Selkath trial, but to no avail. And as for those damned card players that just kept on taking my money......

The hired assassin story was a nice aside and I didn't see the SHOCKING SWERVE coming, which arguably says more about me than the game. Fighting that little goomball who hires you out in the desert was fun and most rewarding in terms of items nad what have you I recall.

HK47 does indeed lord over all that is spiffy once he finds out who you really are. I was too pre-occupied with using Jolee and Bastilla as my companions prior to my official conversion though to really get much out of the bots in a fighting sense. The R2D2 clone seemed able to rack up a whole lot of health but his offense sucked eggs.

The end fight was rather dissapointing in its easyness I felt. Simple running in circles while using Advanced Lightsaber Lobbing appeared sufficient to flumox my former apprentice.

I hunted ALL OVER that damned planet for Carth after he ran over me but to no avail. Its not like he could have even sought refuge at either base given that Id slaughtered the population of both. Still never figured out if there was a way of having them make peace with one another, even when I was trying to be good. Ditto the 2 feuding houses on the Jedi planet (name escapes me) who seemed determined to hate each other for ever more.

The notion of going back and being more subtley mischievous is intriguing. I'm curious to see what happens if you try to join Bastilla if you're in super-face mode. Ditto playing as a girly which I hadnt thought would affect much. And just as I was getting back into Madden again. Damn....

I went through KotOR mostly light side (except when I had the chance to kill some really annoying people) and then played both endings through after the choice. If you chose path that you haven't been taking (choose Dark when you're all the way light) then you just get booted to the middle. It pretty much sucks, because all your jedi powers cost more, and when you choose Dark side, you lose two members of 'Team Jedi'. I really enjoyed having Jolee, HK, and Bastilla around. The rest ranged from worthless to mediocre as companions (either through lack of skills I needed, or lack of interesting dialogue).

If they give me KotOR 2 I will have to buy an X-Box. As it stands now, the only thing I really want it for is Steel Batallion.

Pfft, that is pretty sucky. There didn't even seem any way to get Juhani and Jolee more toward the dark side in the hope that they would join my evil crusade.

Juhani seemed impervious to all my suggestions of revenge and ill-doing, and Jolee really couldn't have cared less what the f*ck I was saying as best I could tell.

Oh well, playing as a girly it is then I fear. But only once I've finally figured out how to shore up the old D in Madden. Shoot outs aint good for the nerves :s

Aha, thread hijack.

I assume you're playing with the Eagles? First season in, or past that? I believe I've won five Super Bowls in a row (and only... three losses total) with my Panthers franchise, and I think it's about time for a change. I'm thinking of picking up the Bengals so I can play in the AFC for a change, and have a chance to switch cities and such (I wouldn't do that to my Panthers).

How did you guess
And may I say how snazzy it is that when you went to play an exhibition it had your teams game (in reality) that week as the default. Provided you had the date set right on your console. Quite unnecessary, but most pleasing none the less.

I went about 3+ seasons in starting on the 2nd difficulty and cranking it up every year.

Went unbeaten in year 1 and had much love from all and sundry as we won the Superbowl and fan support rocketed (advertising works!).

In year 2 things started a bit rocky but we came back strong to beat the Bungles (complete with some snazzy assed scrambling rookie QB who made Vick look as mobile as Drew Bledsoe) in the Superbowl.

Made it back to back to back wins after sneaking in as a wild card on All-Madden. After that though Reid and Johnson decided to give it up because after the 3rd one it just didn't matter any more or some such. Bastards.

I also noticed I was continually being charged about $30m+ per year which I put down to my $1 beer scheme (a soda would still set you back 5 bucks). Cheap beer + Eagles fans = much stadium maintenance I guess. On top of that there was no 'jail' option in stadium upgrades. Wheres the realism I ask you?

After a few months away from it, I went back the other week and have started of 4-0 on the level below All Madden (All-Pro?). Having started Westbrook over Staley for realism's sake the young lads on course for 2000 yds after a sterling start. Having found the 46 defense a bit awkward last time I went 4-3 and sweet Jesus do I suck eggs now.

Antoine freaking Smith ran all over me, although I'll grant you that was maybe because I assumed the Pats would know better than to run and spent most of the day in the Nickel.

I have no idea how to get pressure with linemen (neither holding nor bashing the run botton does much and swim moves are crappy once you're locked up), so instead reverted to the Eagles 'blitz like billio' philosophy after 2 weeks.

Did alright against the Skins getting 3 sacks and knocking Ramsey out the game with a sweet late hit from Walker which apparently impressed me more than it did the refs. But I still always seem to give up one or two mammoth play every game and Taylor and Dawkins are displaying handling skills which would make even our wide-outs snigger.

AFC-wise I'd have to go with the Fins just for Ricky. The Bengals might be kinda nifty though for the enjoyment of putting one over on Ray Lewis twice a year too I guess. And if you're wanting to move stadia then its gotta be much easier to leave Cinci than Miami ;)

It's all a matter of timing. I've found it easier to start a step back from the line, then rush at the snap, hitting the swim/rip move right as you hit the line of scrimmage. At that point, you can either step sideways and take out the RB, or you're in good position for a sack.

Dammit. I was too lazy to return to Kashyyk while dark (and with Manaan closed up there was no point to killing Rulan). What exactly changed there? (Since I doubt I'll ever play long enough to go dark and make it back.)

I hit that swerve the first time immediately after I escaped the Leviathan. After the blows of the Revan revelation and losing Bastila, I was not prepared to find out that stupid Rodian had used me. Bastard! I so wanted to kill him right then and there, but after all I had been through, I didn't see much point, so I just let the asshole walk away. I was SO looking forward to taking his ass out when I went dark, but then I killed the giant firaxis, and the stupid Rodian won't leave the planet for me to continue my missions.

He's dead if I make it that far on my third time through though...

Is there a distinct middle ending? Do you take over the Sith or is the galaxy happy and free?

I'd normally be pissed about this except the reason my third run-through has been delayed is because Gamefly sent me Madden this week. I've been playing as the Eagles, too, and I really should have picked the Giants, because I'm doing the team a great disservice. I'm 1-8-0. (or 1-9-0?). I've only managed to beat the Bills in week 4. My defense isn't that bad, but I can't do shit on offense (I'm averaging about 10 ppg). My problem is that I turn the ball over like crazy (-18 on turnovers), and if those turnovers aren't immediately returned for a touchdown, they are usually so close to my endzone they always lead to points. So that usually puts me about one or two drives in the red, and my offense isn't good enough to recover. And that's just against the mediocre teams. The better teams like the Pats and the Falcons have blown me out by about 44-0. I really don't know why I keep playing because I suck so much. I expect I'll fire Reed and everyone at the end of the season, even though its not their fault I suck, and I don't know who I'm going to replace on the team. I really should have picked the Giants, because I wouldn't mind putting up such abysmal numbers with them, and I'm not quite as familiar with their line-up, so I wouldn't feel remorse for messing with it. Plus, they have the shotgun, and I like the shotgun, although I'm learning the joys of the I formation.

Erm, there's no 'Tweener' storyline on KotOR. What I meant is that your light/dark side rating gets booted to the middle and you become neutral instead of going full on Dark or Light (which looks really freaking cool).

As for Madden, I suggest going to the Football 101 mode. It has all the basic plays in there, runs you through what you're supposed to do, and helps you get accustomed to making plays in Madden. The computer's defense is really tough in the 2004 edition, so you really have to play a bunch until you can start to recognize what the defense is doing on the other side of the ball (both pre and post snap).

Personally, I take a page out of Peyton Manning's playbook (though it's been much more successful for me). Here's my offense:

1) Choose a formation - Pick a play

2) Audible to a different play

3) Make any Hotroute (Pass) or Playmaker (Run) adjustments

4) Run the Play

5) Hit the hurry-up - You come back ready to run the play you originally called. Same thing goes for the defense though the computer usually changes its coverage without you knowing.

6) Look at the coverage. If I hit the audible button (even if I cancel the audible) the computer will change its play and give you a different look.

7) Repeat steps 3-7 until either Fourth down/turnover/score

All you have to make sure is that you have the right players in for the audible you called (try not to switch to a 4-WR play if you started in the I-form, FBs don't run too fast), and if you have a bunch of audibles that run out of the same formation, you'll even be able to confuse the hell out of human opponents.

The main thing you have to remember for Madden 2004 is this - If your reciever is covered, don't throw to him. The DBs are going to make you pay for it. It's really helpful to have a scrambling QB this year (Seneca Wallace, 3-Time Super Bowl MVP!) so that when everybody's covered you can still make a play on the ground.

If I remember right, the Czerka folks are around in numbers, and you're no longer abel to get back into the main part of the city, by order of the head wookie. Even when you bring along your own little wookie he still won't entertain you.

And the guy who was 'paying his debt' to the trader can be manipulated to the dark side. I think you can learn some nonsense in the Czerka office too but nothing greatly noteworthy.

He's dead if I make it that far on my third time through though...

Oh and what fun you'll have too. He remains a devious git to the end and fully warrants much double light sabred action upon his person.

I've been playing as the Eagles, too, and I really should have picked the Giants

Now there's really just no excuse for that. Unless you're doing the Madden equivalent of playing the light side then the dark side

As I remain quite adept on offense I can still offer some assistance (assuming you're using Reid's playbook).

For running plays, take the 'Singleback-Big' formation and choose either of the HB counter plays. You can reverse the direction of both at scrimmage without any personnel shifting so the opponent has no idea allowing you to take advantage of any LB or DL shifts. Usually both go for at least 3 or 4 and can be broken into something big at least once a game.

Passing wise, theres a playaction pass from the weak formation where you can put you TE on a hot route to the right hand side line usually resulting in a big game. If he's covered the FB's there as easy back up or you can often scramble a fairways.

Quick WR screens and slants can be pretty effective especially if you see the DB's back off. On the slants you really have to gun it in there to avoid leading the receiver out of bounds.

I think 'Slot Pivot' from the singleback normal also might be a winner, but it can lead to turnover hell against zone D's.

Generally speaking, establish the run (avoiding toss plays which suck) then start play-actioning like crazy especially on 2nd and 5 or less.

Good luck.

EDIT: Oh, and the stuff Jag said too. Hot routes really do make a difference and even cancelling an audible will see the defence go back to its default positions for their formation. Handy if the little beggars have just moved EVERYONE over to where you plan on running.

Those right there are my problems.

2) I never know what I'm calling with an audible. The only thing I know I can do is reverse the play, which I'll usually do when I'm planning to run and they look like their blitzing. I'll switch to the other side, but they switch right along with me...

3) I have yet to figure out the Hotroute and Playmaker features. To be fair, I only read up about them last night, and haven't tried playing with them yet.

When I first started playing I had the tendency at the time of a tackle to button mash in a futile effort to dodge the defenders and continue the drive, but all that would do would cause the hurry-up and I wouldn't know what I was doing. For some reason, whenever I do hurry-up the ball, I always wind up spiking it instead of repeating my last play. I figured out enough to call an audible whenever I accidentally hurry-up now, but as I said, I never know what I'm calling.

On a side note, I don't like the clock in this game. 5:00 quarters make sense (from a game playing perspective), but retaining the 2:00 warning seems to leave a world of time between that and the end of the half. Plus, the shorter quarters inflate the playclock. It isn't right that the computer can get a first down in the last 90+ seconds of the game and hold the ball to end it when that's about 30% of the quarter. That would be like a real team getting the ball 3 1/2 minutes left in a game and being able to sit on it. I suppose once I improve, maybe I won't be as sensitive to this issue, but I'd rather they have a 15:00 quater clock that runs at 3x speed rather than a 5:00 clock with everything else normal. (I also find it annoying when the scores pop up for games in progress, and they show other games at times like 7:07 left in the 3rd. If *I* can't have a 7:07 time, how can they???)

Thanks for the advice, though. I'll try to use it. Go Eagles!

Funny. The reason I was saying I should play as the Giants is because I suck and they suck so it wouldn't be so bad. Would you rather Collins or McNabb lead the NFL in interceptions thrown?

Offensively I've started to figure out I can use the I-Formation Max Protect and if Thrash can't get open downfield usually Staley is open near the line and I can get something going, although its cheap to use that play EVERYTIME and I think some of the teams might be getting wise. (Does the AI learn throughout a game like real players do? Is it just me or does the opposing team get better after the half?)

My other problem with the game is that I'm not as good a field goal kicker as Akers is. I haven't made anything from beyond 39+ yards. I'm pretty sure Akers was kicking from almost 50 yards out at times (or more). Too many times I'd get to within striking distance and miss the kick. I did that twice against the Cowboys, and when they beat me 20-18 (with a field goal with 4 seconds left, no less!) that really hurt.

If you're playing on an X-Box, I believe if you press the white button, it will show you what your current play looks like. But yes, do go over all the controls and set up your audibles to some plays that you know how to run.

For quarter length, I'm so used to 5 minute quarters that I just leave it that way. What you can do though, is go into the game options menu and change the quarter length to 15 minutes (or whatever length you like) and then turn the Accelerated Clock on. It makes it so that if you choose your plays quickly, it will automatically drain the playclock (and game clock) down to somewhere under 20 tics. That way the game is realistic, but you don't have to sit through the whole hour+ of the game.

I'm playing on a PS2, but I'll find the appropriate button conversion somewhere.

Thanks for the clock advice.

I'm beating N.O. 10-7 at the half. So far, so good. Thanks for the tips.

I love this game (KotOR, that is).

What class did all of you go through the game with? I beat it with a light side character, and I'm 90% done with my dark side character. Soldier/Guardian each time; the scoundrel is just so damned weak and useless. If I need a door open, I'll bash it or call a droid. Haven't tried the Scout yet, but he seems like a compromise between the other two.

Thoughts?

Started off as the Scoundrel when I was being all light and fluffy then became a soldier when there was dark side work to do.

It was so much easier the second time not being such a complete pansy. I can't think of one discernable use the scoundrel had that I couldn't have someone else do for me.

The scout may well be a good bet for when I get in touch with my feminine side next time, but the sheer ass kickingness of the Soldier might yet work out.

I might have a bash with the all force powerful Jedi type next time (conselar?) just to work my way through a few more of the nifty powers.

The 'Kill' and 'Whirlwind' forces were nifty, and damn was that 'destroy droid' magic the business when you get to the temple.

Eddie

If you work through the mii camps you'll get a bit better at the kicking gig. I was pitiful at it at first and usually just went for it on 4th down if I was outside the red zone but I'm now pinging them over with some regularity from 40-50 yards. Its really just about finding a rhythm.

The accelerated game clock stops working after the 2 minute warning but you can still flick it on after building a lead if you want to run the clock down a bit without having to stare inanely at the computer screen for half a minute between plays.

Oh, and as long as you're not on All Madden theres a PA Streak play (Singleback Trips or Slot) that allows you to roll out to the right and scramble for a good 15 to 20 a lot of the time. Its wise to stay near the sidelines or be ready to slide though to avoid losing Donovan for lengthy periods.

And don't be mislead by my talk of Westbrook going for 2000 yards. He fumbles like its going out of fashion (7 in 5 games including punt returns) and isn't half as good as Staley at breaking tackles.

KotOR:

First time I played a Soldier/Sentinel (or whatever Jedi Class has the yellow light-sabers like Bastila). I wanted to play Guardian (the bad ass w/ blue sabers like Juhani), but I from the way I answered my questions, it was apparent I should play Sentinel. On my second go round, I *cheated* on my answers so I could have a Soldier/Guardian, which was very nice for going dark. As useful as Destroy Droid was light, Kill and Death Field were for dark. On my third go round I'm a scout. I haven't made it to Jedi yet, so I don't know what I'll be.

Madden:

I finished the season 4-12. New Orleans destroyed me after Westbrook fumbled two punt returns in the second half. After that loss I beat Carolina, lost two close games, beat the 49ers and then beat the division winning Redskins in the final game. The Pats won the simulated Super Bowl (over the Seahawks), and now I'm trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do in the off-season. Is there a quick way to know who you need to re-sign and who you don't? Or a quick way to know what positions you suck at?

I've gotten surprisingly good with the PA Streak on I-Formation though. Thrash (or maybe its Pinkston) runs down the sideline and I can usually catch the ball with as many as two defenders about half the time, for about a 30 yard gain. Although I never seem to do this when I plan to, such as at the end of a half with no time left.

I've had the exact same problem with punt returns, especially when I used him. For some reason, unless you take control of him manually the computer has him stand about a yard back of where he needs to be so he even muffs fair catches. When he does catch it he can run like the wind, but that first hurdle is a bit of a moster for the poor lad.

Still, he just needs 450 yards in 5 games to get 2000 this season for me, and if he gets it down to 1 fumble a game he wont even hit 20 for the season
Incidentally, New Orleans can be real easy to get cheap sacks on if you mix up the blitzes with the occassional QB Spy thanks to Aaron's insistence on trying to scramble.

The short answer if you're the Eagles IIRC is there's no really big names out of contract after 1 year. Other than tying up Westbrook to a long deal before starting to use him as a starter I haven't done anything else with the existing squad.

Go into View Roster, highlight contract length and sort it in increasing time to expiration (press Y on the XBox, Triangle on the PS2 I guess) to find out whose leaving you.

You can haggle a fair bit with the agents so don't offer them anything like what they ask for, especially if you give extra years.

The Depth Chart should show you where you suck worst. The DE's and LB's are the weakest areas of the Eagles so picking up FA's in these areas is wise. I took Godfrey at the start of the year because I didnt trust Simoneau and he seems not bad.

Oh, and when it comes to Rookie scouting, a word of advice. THE SCOUTS LIE TO YOU. I swear to god. I had a guy who had the arm of a young Favre and the speed of Garcia. Signed him in the first round and it turned out the only similarity he had with a young Favre was his ability to throw picks while his mobility was considerably nearer the Bledsoe end of the scale.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to do that now.

By the way, Bioware just released a new patch (support.lucasarts.com) for the PC KotOR. Adds walking, 1280x1024 resolution support, a way to hide the GUI when taking screeshots (nice!), a whole lotta minor bug fixes, and other things.

Edit: Adds a whole lotta minor bug fixes, not a whole lotta minor bugs. At least, I hope so...
