"National Captioning Institute" - YOU are the cause of all my CC frustration!

FOOTAGE! of Benoit showing-up last week, him winning the Rumble, and the disbelieving HBK and HHH.

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, because it is time to WAKE UP! It's Raw, live from Penn State University...and a Fashion Report, too!

In the ring, Jericho, in shiny purple/black/blue "Jericho" shirt and tights, with the Hilight Reel Set. Benoit, in red tights with black slashes, is the guest. Jericho plays devil's advocate, using FOOTAGE! of Flair running-down Benoit at the Rumble as evidence. So here's Flair, in dark grey suit and grey, blue-striped shirt (top two buttons undone), to run-down Benoit, live. Now Bisch, in black suit, blue shirt and GLASSES (black rims), arrives to book Jericho/Christian vs. Flair/Batista, and Benoit vs. Someone.

Coach, in black damn stockingcap and black shirt, JR, in black suit and black hat, and Lawler, in white/black stripes with gold trim, are our commentators.

Benoit vs. Mark Henry, in blue "MH" singlet, with gold trim, with Teddy, in grey suit. Chad Patton is the referee. Mid-match, HHH struts out to ringside to watch. Crossface -> submission. An average match.

Austin is walking? What happened to his 4-wheeler? He speaks to Shawn, who he says deserves another title shot. Austin prods Shawn, who is left to think on that.

FOOTAGE! of Foley's promo from last week. Presently, Mick is ambling around the back. Test confronts him, allowing Orton to punk him out. Orton then informs Mick that Mick is Randy's bitch.

Rene, in blue "La Resistance" undies, with Conway, in blue "La Resistance" undies with the French Flag, vs. Rico, in red leopard-print/white tassled tights, with Jackie, in silver top and black ass cheek-revealing pants. Rene looks roided-up tonight. Jack Doan is the referee. Coach to Lawler "I know you've got some stroke with Hugh Heffner." - ha! Again for no reason, Stacie, in black, comes out mid-match and shows some ass. This distracts Rene and lets Rico get the pin. Average match.

In the back, Christian! uses a Beatles/Yoko analogy to describe the Trish/Jericho/Christian thing to Trish. Frick yeah, man - THAT totally summs up the whole plot!

Trish, in pink bodysuit and sparkly black trenchcoat, vs. Bischoff appearing on the Titantron. Bisch un-books the Women's Championship match, and makes it Trish vs. Kane, under the towell, in black tights with red stripes. Hebner is the official. Jericho is out - call it a DQ. Post-match, Kane destroys Jericho's knee.

In the locker room, Trish consoles an injured Jericho. Christian enters, pissed at the messed-up situation. Jericho tells him off.

Kane, still in the ring, vs. Goldberg, in full beard and fullcut black undies with white trim and barbedwire butt. Chad Patton is the official. Lightning, a blue light, and the same video, distracts Kane. Spear. Gong - the ring fills with fog, Kane runs off, and the camera goes dead. Um...double count-out? An average match while it lasted; intense big-man action.

BookerT, in black hot-crotch flamin' "BookerT" undies, vs. Mattitude, in black/white open shirt and white pants with black pockets and silver designs. Matt Fact: Matt's chest hair grows swiftly. Mike Chioda is the referee. Scissors kick -> pin. A nice match.

In the back, Shawn cleans his boots when Randy comes by and talks some trash. Randy totally is that prickish upstart kind of guy.

HHH, in black iron-cross undies, wearing the Heavyweight Title, talking trash to Benoit on the mic, vs. Spike, in sleeveless black "Dudley Boyz" tshirt and black/gold camo pants. Jack Doan referees. A nasty looking pedigree -> pin. Squash.

Austin walks into Goldberg's lockerroom (his 4-wheeler must be in the shop). Goldberg is presented a front-row ticket for No Way Out. Think of the stuff he could stir-up with that. Ass!

Jericho, in black tights with sparkly pink silhouttes, and Christian!, in black tights with yellow "C"s on yellow/purple crests, vs. Batista, in black/gold undies with red arcing flame, and Flair, in sparkly red/yellow "Nature Boy" robe and red "RF" undies, both wearing the Tag Team Titles. Hebner is the referee. Figure Four on Jericho -> submission. A nice match.

Randy, on black "Orton" undies with hip scrawlings, wearing the Intercontintal Title, vs. Shawn, in black and red leather with silver studs and black "Shawn Michaels" tights with sundered hearts. Mike Chioda is the official, in stripes. A MASSIVE dropkick by Randy to Mike. With no official, Randy goes to get the IC Title, but Austin drives out with Hebner in tow (the garage must've fixed the 4-wheeler quickly). Both men roll out, injured, so it's Adbreak time.

(Cont.)They're back in the ring, fighting it out. Orton focuses on the back/neck of Shawn. Mick comes down the ramp, distracting Orton and letting Shawn get the rollup. A nice match. Post-match, Mick and Randy duke it out. The rest of Evolution come out - HHH decides to take some shots at Shawn. So Benoit comes out to stare-down (stare-up?) HHH. Shawn and Benoit shake hands, but there remains mucho tension.

Overall: A fast-paced, intense show. I liked it. The three-man table is kind-of growing on me (when they're on, they are on). And the closed-captioning was better, but how do you get "Sock Tease" instead of "Socrates"?

triple h being afraid to hit benoit made my night and (in my opinion) gave benoit a lot of credibility. although i thought for sure that michaels was gonna super kick the daylights out of him instead of shaking his hand. i'm actually excited about seeing where this goes next week.

Eh, a couple average matches (Book/Hardy, Chrises/Evo, Orton/HBK), and furthering of the (groan) Benoit/HHH/HBK feud. Show was pretty so-so, nothing really grabbed me.

This Taker supernatural stuff, however, has got to go. Everybody shit all over the Warrior/Hogan stuff in WCW, and this (to me) is no different.

Did anyone else catch the booger that flew out of Benoit's nose at the beginning of the show RIGHT before it cut to commercials? I had a good laugh over that.

I'm glad to see that the Highlight Reel is still around.

Yoko Stratus? Heh...I believe I'll be calling her that from now on.

Yay! More old school Undertaker goodness!

Matt's chest hair grows swiftly. Okay, good to know.
And that's my completely random Raw thoughts.

Can't say I was very impressed with today's Raw. I liked Kane/Goldberg...but Benoit/Henry sucked. I'm also digging the Jericho/Stratus angle, too.

No Dudley Boyz, no Lance Storm, no Hurricane... can't say I like that too much!

Oh yeah....I totally love Bischoff's glasses. I want a pair of those!

Yep. That was a Hacksaw Jim Duggan moment if there ever was one.

Blue Man Kane is my favorite new wrestler, even if he is all about nothing but great facial expressions and running off through the crowd. Nifty lightning bolt trick.

Not a lot to say, but I thought it was a good show.

Raw Thoughts:

Nice specs worn by Bischoff. Gives him that "I can't see, I'm such a heel" look....Benoit v.s Henry was suitable, though Benoit struggled to get Henry's ham-hock in the Crossface....Test is SUCH a bad actor....Okay Rico-Dupree match, but it seems a waste of time when WWE.com already admitted Sable/Torrie in the next playboy, and this match (and last week's) seemed to be to advance the idea that it's gonna be Jackie/Stacy....Great promo by Christian on Yoko Stratus....Jericho saves Trish again, injuring his knee. Damn that Bischoff!....Why was Jericho not looking Christian in the eyes during that promo? That seemed a bit odd....The Kane/Goldberg match was a bit of a train wreck, but the visuals were awesome....

Hey, I've never run out of gas either! I knew Matt and I had something in common....A losing streak angle for Hardy perhaps?....I don't get the squash match. It certainly doesn't make Spike look good, and it doesn't make Trips look good, cuz Spike is perceived as a jobber anyway. Strange....Nice Austin/Goldberg encounter backstage....Decent tag action, and some more Trish/Christian/Jericho storyline advancement....A bit too much resting for my tastes in the Michaels/Orton match, but a nice visual with Chioda on the back of Austin's ATV....Okay match, and some nice respect given by Trips to Benoit at the end. I fully expected Michaels to nail Benoit though.

Great Raw.

Mostly because they're booking Foley/Orton and Taker/Kane flawlessly. I even warmed up to Jericho/Christian for the first time tonight.

And while I have enjoyed it so far, I have one logical problem with Raw--and that's the main event. I am enjoying the dynamic of HBK being involved comparable to Foley's involvement of Rock vs Austin at WM15, but knowing that it may become triple threat ruins it. Benoit versus HHH, despite getting a shaky start with Benoit's lame promo last week, will do perfectly fine by itself. The best way to go would be to give Shawn a diversion for Mania and then let him get back in the title hunt afterwards. Have Flair take him out and then set up their match. As it is, it should be Chris Benoit versus Triple H in the main event.

Holy crap! Goldberg and Kane wasn't a total car wreck. Heck, I was actually enjoing the massive sloppiness and brawling.

Version 1.0 finally back on RAW only to lose to Book.

La Resistance with another distraction loss.

Foley continues to hunt Orton

Kane continues to get haunted

It all seemed to flow very smoothly tonight. I think this might have been a perfect show. I hope the rating is still strong this week...yet my prediction is 3.8

OVERALL: ***** PERFECT!

Couple other things I've thought of:

Would someone tell J.R that the term "CLB" IS NOT, WAS NOT, AND WILL NEVER BE OVER.

As much as I like Booker T., I hate his finisher. The guy has to be bent over in an unnatural position for the axe kick, and it looks lame more than it looks effective.

Closed captioning still has a way to go...

Or ton? Efflution?

Lawler had a great line tonight talking about Miss Jackie last week was twice the show than Janet Jackson's half-time.

Overall, I'm digging the Foley-Orton build. Nice touch for Test to be p-o'd at Foley for taking his spot at the Rumble, setting up the Orton sneak attack. Did Foley try to say it wasn't him? If so, who? Also, very solid delivery by Orton to Foley on the ground "make no mistake - you are my bitch!" Way to get your heat back after the performance last week. If Orton failed this promo, the entire feud would become tiresome in a hurry, instead, its building nicely.

Did Michaels win the IC title, or was it a non-title contest?

The difference is that it actually makes sense with the characters and even the storyline. Whereas, with Warrior/Hogan, it was just Warrior thinking everybody else was as crazy as he seems to be.

That's odd, it was just a couple of weeks ago when someone was complaining about Orton winning a non-title match.

But Spike never got eliminated from the Royal Rumble, so he was owed a title shot, based on the precident set when 'Taker took Maven out 2 years ago without actually putting him over the top rope. Inadvertent or not, it's continuity!

And for my random thought.... Why does Rob Conway have a French accent if he's just an American who sympathizes with France? And they did a surprisingly good job having Kane and Goldberg both look strong and neither guy losing any heat for their big Wrestlemania matches.

I enjoyed most of Raw, and was digging most of the matches. My only thought of any import is this: JR, Lawler, and Coach are completely killing the Taker/Kane angle. "What the hell is going on here?!" "I don't know!" "I've never seen anything like it!" "It's paranormal!"

Undertaker is only 12-0 at Wrestlemania, guys. I really don't buy this whole, "Who is that man? I've never seen him before!" thing. So unless the surprise is that it's not the Undertaker, please stop insulting my intelligence. And hell, if it wasn't UT, it'd be a lot more surprising if everybody kept saying it was him before the twist.

Bah.

I actually think that we're going to be seeing Version 2.0 soon (or perhaps, 1.1 beta... ) Just the way they mentioned that as his nickname in certain places.

I also love the Undertaker angle. I wish they'd stop the bullshit with "Who is doing this???" but it's been apparent for a few years now that J.R. and The King can only kill a storyline or gimmick, not get it over.

I also wish they'd take the NWO opening out of the Undertaker's video. Everytime it hits (complete with sound effect) I think Nash is coming out.

It makes HHH look like a weaselly bigmouth, especially if he continue to fight the likes of maybe Dupree, Cade, Jindrak and some of the Raw jobbers every week while Benoit has to contend with Henry, Flair, Batista, etc. If this leads to a big Benoit/Michaels showdown in a couple of weeks, a Benoit victory would cement him as a main event threat. Michaels can then wrestle Flair or the Rock at WrestleMania.

Wait…if it’s MLK Jr. Day AND Pat Patterson’s Birthday…who gets the token win here?-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking on a match between Mark Henry and Rico

MH: What’s a clever way to say that I have a penis?
CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt.
MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…?
CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department.
MH: I know! I’ve got it!
CJ: Got what?
MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!!
CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”?
MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt.
CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say.
MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.

You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT!

Am I the only one who thinks no one should ever job to Ric Flair? Let Batista get the finishes, and let Flair be involved, but no one in their prime should be tapping out to Flair's figure-four. I just can't invest in that emotionally. Mad respect for what Flair's done, can't begrudge him that but I have no desire to see him go over anybody anymore, and I can't suspend my belief that much.
He's still a good worker but I just hate having to explain how an old man just beat someone in shape and in his prime to whomever might be in the room when I watch wrestling.
And he looks awful with his shirt off.

Next week, it's him and Benoit. Instead of Benoit messing him up, I'm sure they'll try to do a 20-minute classic. It's too late for that. Again, a big Flair fan here, and he was great once, but just because Foreman was great a long time ago doesn't mean he can take Lennox Lewis today.

Other than that nothing really sucked. Okay show. Still hate Orton.

He's saying that Jericho should have no-sold everything.

His selling would only be better if he did a kick-up towards the end of the match, completely ignoring hours with of devastating chinlocks that made up the bulk of the match.

Yeah, the main event wasn't so hot.
