Was the clothesline executed with the arm that has the steel in it? Could this have had any effect on Morgan's injury?

The WWE ought to play up the bionic, surgically repaired forearm of Holly, as was done with Luger after his bike accident. Luger would knock people cold with his forearm shot.

They took the steel out about 6-9 months after it was put in.

Screw Matt Morgan. Screw The Undertaker. In fact, screw wrestling.

I only watch because each day I hope and pray that Macho Man will make his long awaited return.

It's almost impressive how "While the concensus among Morgan's fellow workers is that it was an accident, some in the Smackdown dressing room feel it was only a matter of time before something like this happened" turned directly into "a lot of people backstage are blaming Bob Holly" in the course of one cut-n-pasting.

It was probably an accident but take a look at this from a recent Holly interview (http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/ wo/news/headlines/default.asp? aID=9521):

"Chris explains how “paying dues” is an overused expression in the business today and asks whether Hardcore Holly feels it is necessary to have the large background and experience or whether that theory is overrated. “I think it’s important,” Holly responds, “because nowadays, they’ve got guys coming in that take the business for granted that weren’t really wrestling fans.” Tough Enough is an example Bob uses describing the lack of respect some of these young guys have when they come in to the business. “They haven’t paid their dues; they don’t respect the guys that have and they don’t belong where they’re at.”

As far as Tough Enough and whether there should have been a fourth season, Holly feels that there are some pros and cons to the idea. It was good entertainment, did a good rating for MTV, and if they did another one, he would like to do it if he isn’t involved in anything, but there’s a lot of stuff that he disagrees with. “Some of the cast members that do win that clearly aren’t in the same league that we are, they don’t have to pay their dues. Yeah, for ten weeks, they go through a lot of training and stuff like that,” he explains, “but they didn’t go through the years of trying to make it, sleeping in your car, or driving for three, four, five, six hours and making no money. Some of these guys that are in the business now just have everything handed to them and I disagree with that. That kind of irritates me a lot because there’s some of the guys in our locker room that are like that and believe me, if I get a chance to be in the ring with them, I will eat them alive.”"

Once is an accident, but 500,000 times is closer to a trend.

Out of curiousity...is this comment in relation to the fact that Matt Morgan keeps getting hurt or that Holly keeps bumping people??

If everyone in the dressing room is aware that Holly...or other wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin...are "stiff" in the ring...then why the hell aren't they staying on their toes and expecting some rougher treatment when they are in the ring together??? If it's been an issue for such a LONG time...then why haven't Holly and Stone Cold been punished for being too hard in the ring??? Is it perhaps because...THIS ISN'T BALLET!?!?! Or because they sell their shit like nobody's business and that in turn sells tickets??

*And please don't get on me for comparing SCSA and Hardcore...I am simply using SCSA as an example of a well known "stiff" competitor...I'm not trying to suggest that SCSA and Holly are on the same level with the fans*

Hardcore believes that these new kids coming in have little to no respect for what they are being taught...I have to agree with my guy. I know what its like to stand in front of someone with 10 years experience and get admonished for not respecting what they were trying to teach me!! It made me understand how much they loved what they did and that if I didn't feel the same...that I was in the wrong place...I needed to DESERVE what I was being offered FREE OF CHARGE.

As for the Matt Morgan incident...I don't wanna see anyone get hurt...that's not why I watch wrestling...but to ASSUME because Hardcore was stiff on a kid on TE...that he's going all nazi on everyone's ass is a bit much. Holly's a tough competitor...no one knows that better then the guys who wrestle him. This incident with Matt Morgan...IF IT IS INDEED HOLLY'S FAULT AT ALL...would be the FIRST time he's ever hurt ANYONE in the ring despite the fact that he himself has been injured several times...both times by NEW GUYS (Angle and Lesner)who hadn't paid their dues!!! I think Hardcore's got an honest point about respect

SEADAWG -> "It's almost impressive how "While the concensus among Morgan's fellow workers is that it was an accident, some in the Smackdown dressing room feel it was only a matter of time before something like this happened" turned directly into "a lot of people backstage are blaming Bob Holly" in the course of one cut-n-pasting."

AMEN! This could also be construed that the "fellow workers" of Matt Morgan feel that perhaps HE was an accident waiting to happen...a bit green...it really depends on how you want to spin it folks

Cheers,

Erin

I agree with him that many of the Tough Enough kids probably weren't even wrestling fans(I won't go even go into my lack of respect for that show and the contestants), but that doesn't give him the right to knock them around in defenseless states. If I was so annoyed by someone's presence I'd just stay clear of them, until they provoked ME directly. Hasn't Sparky learned his lesson after Brock?

Actually, I was referring to the number of times that places like 411 lift a story from another site and change the details in the process.

Well, the 1wrestling story went on to say that Bob Holly is a dickhead and it wouldn't be surprising if he had done something stupid like this. I'm paraphrasing. But it clearly started off saying "the concensus among Morgan's fellow workers is that it was an accident", which somehow didn't make the 411 cut-n-paste.

I hate to bring up this Bob Holly stuff again, but wasn't he in the match where DDP screwed up his back and had to retire?

Yep. Either a stiff clothesline by Holly, or a superplex where DDP landed wrong, or possibly a combination of the 2.

Also, Holly wasn't over at all tonight. I even heard the "hey, hey, hey, goodbye" chant when Kurt brushed him off.

The fans need to get some sort of chant going that conveys, "This is not good heel heat we're giving you, this is bad heat. X-Pac heat, even. Please go away."

Or maybe some sort of big, big sign. I think about this every RAW when I get all HHH-hatey.

The solution would've been easier a couple years ago. Perry Saturn vs Bradshaw vs Bob Holly vs RVD. No DQ.

From the Wrestling Observer website...

"DDP feels that he got his big break after turning on the nWo the night he was offered a spot into the faction by Nash and Hall. From then on, his most prominent memory was winning the WCW title on April 11, 1999. To him, winning a wrestling title is like winning an Oscar. He also states that he used his diamond-cutter sign as a signature, and it became so popular that Karl Malone actually "performed the gesture" at a Utah Jazz game. The two became friends, which led to the big DDP and Malone v. Hogan and Rodman match a few years ago.

DDP wishes he could have left as his original DDP character and feels upset about it. His injury occurred on April 16 of this year after mis-performing a superplex on Bob Holly, which led to severely injuring his neck. After surgery, DDP still wanted to wrestle, but his lawyers told him that the insurance companies would not cover him if he made such a move, so he had to retire."

So DDP screws up and...once again...Hardcore is blamed

I'm sensing a pattern here...I wonder if everyone will find a way to blame Holly for his arm break in that match against Angle...hmmmm...

SEADAWG...thanks for clearing that up...didn't realise what you were writing about

Cheers,

Erin

Atleast DDP kicked him in the dick.

I believe that it was DDP's fault, but he got injured trying to make sure Holly landed flat. It was a fluke.

Holly has had the reputation of working stiff and trying to be a "bully" to younger talent for years.

Many wrestlers took great pleasure in seeing Fit Finley attack Holly in a stiff manner during the recent pull apart brawl on Smackdown.

Wow, Someone getting stiff with bob...its about time. Being a trainee (almost awrestler now) I had no problem with him roughin up matt on TE3. The kid had to pay his dues right? But the more time goes on the more i realize that bob is just a bitter man. Bitter at the business, bitter at life...bitter about having to get his neck broken to get an angle. God forgive me for saying this but he should have learned his lesson when Brockberg broke his neck. Pretty soon another hoss might have to do the same to get some respect!

In reply to mercer - there is a very clear line between "training" and "abuse." It all depends on the motive.

Take Stu Hart as an example of a harsh taskmaster. Did he cause pain? Hell yeah. Did he injure his students? Not according to what any of them said on Confidential. Pain and injury are two very different things.

On the other side of the line you have bullies who try to "teach respect" to kids who "haven't paid their dues." Holly's own comments reveal that his purpose is not to give the rookies some tough love - it's to punish them for having it easier than he did.

Wrestlers *have* to trust each other. They put their lives in each other's hands. There are some things that they simply cannot do, and deliberately causing injury is one of them.

I'd like to give Holly the benefit of the doubt, but if I were booking, I would keep him away from the rookies.

Well, there's 2 hours of my life that I'll never get back ... John Cena just sucks now ... that was the lamest promo I've ever seen in my whole life. I can't think of one good thing to say about tonight's episode except that it's now over.
