TOWNCRAFT PLUS RN43804 - 100% polyester - dry clean only (that seems a bit excessive - it's POLYESTER) - and it's another Penneys tie.

You were right not to wonder, but I didn't wear a tie to work yesterday. Since I was the only guy in the building except the security guard, I wore a rugby shirt and gold sweats. By the way, do you know how hard it is to find gold sweats? That's pretty much how I handle Sundays, too - anything close to pajamas is really the way to go when it comes to dressing for work.

Apparently there was a huge round of layoffs during my weekend last week - people were told on Thursday and shuffled off on Friday. That could be a little disconcerting, but I prefer to look at it as a LOT of new space to explore - as in my (seemingly many) spare moments, I like to go mining for office supplies left behind. For instance, every time there's a round of layoffs, I get upgraded to even larger monitors - so, see, it isn't ALL bad around here.

In 1998 my company closed down a division that took up 99% of the space in the wing of the building I was working in - for six months I was the only employee on the floor - there wasn't a desk or supply room that I didn't scavenge at least twice - I didn't need to order office supplies for over a year - my expense ratio looked great.......unlike your tie - yikes !

I don't know. I think this tie had a nice wavy pattern going there...until it got attacked by a 70's guitar strap.

That one is pretty bad too.

I must ask the inevitable question though. What color shirt do you wear with that piece of fabric? Yellow again? Do you own any clothes that are not yellow or gold?

Oh come on, its just gotta be white for that puppy. Yellow's gonna clash in all sorts of nasty ways.

The wavy lines once again have a curiously hypnotic effect which aids the neckwear in removing focus, if only briefly, from the unfortunate paisley patterns emblazoned across its centre.

Ginger has a QuickCam from the stone age and somehow managed to make it work with her XP, so here now at no one's request are some very poor (both in quality and in subject matter) digital photos PROVING I am not just making up the fact that I'm dressing this way:

Here I am leaning against a chair and excitedly asking "does it work yet? Does it work yet?" Also, you can see my boss PIMP WATCH and wedding ring

After we figured out how to make all the tint settings approach real life, we tried again with me sitting IN the chair. (This isn't my cube, and that's not my gun) Actually, as I look at it now it doesn't look much different from the other one, except there aren't a bunch of fluorescent ceiling lights behind my head as if I were Jesus. Also another lovely look at my wedding ring!

Thanks Ginger

But the real question is:

How do manage all that hair? Sheesh, I start to feel overheated after about a month's worth of growth from my latest barbershop trim. And I just cannot imagine the time it takes to wash all that.

I'd make some kind of wiseass remark except that I have two dress shirts like that in my closet.

The tie, however, is all you.

It's EASY to manage...I guess it's one of those "You'd have to have it to understand what I'm talking about" things.

Chris's hair is about...half an inch? longer than mine, so I know what it's like. Mine is thick and I usually keep it in what I call a Samurai tail. A pony tail that starts up near the crown area I guess.

If I were a clock, and facing 9 o'clock, the tail would be up near 2 or a little closer to 1. I call it a Samurai tail because when I was younger and growing it out (it was down to my ass in 2000, but I cut it ALL to a buzz cut because my girl at the time said she'd take me back if I looked more professional. Oops...she didn't take me back and I was left with no hair. So picture Chris's length, and that's what I've grown in 4 years (started regrowing in jan 2000) and I saw a japanese movie with my mom (she was part chinese, part japanese) and the main character had that type of pony tail, and I thought it was awesome.

I think Rain from Big Trouble in Little China (One of the 3 furies, the one with the sword who was not the one with the lightning, nor the one who spoke english and took our heros on the tour) has that tail too...

I actually wear mine a bit longer than his, currently it is waist length, but mine is almost always pulled back into a ponytail which makes it easier to manage but managing that much hair isn't any different for a man than it is for a woman who has long hair. Quite frankly, you simply become accustomed to it.

If his hair is anything like mine, washing it isn't a time problem, drying it is the real problem. I can't blowdry mine unless I want to look like I stuck my finger into a light socket and it takes at least a couple of hours to airdry completely. Since I've now got an hour commute, I generally don't have frozen hair anymore but I used to have it all the time when I was at Indiana University and had to walk about a mile from where I parked to my first class of the day.

Oh no....now I must disagree. This tie is classy!!

This is the '56 Buick Roadmaster of ties. If you get it dirty or get killed in it, it should be fine. Just hose it off and re-sell it.

Very nice sir. Nice contrast to the mane too!

That'd be one hell of a user pic, actually... the first one of you with that huge grin, and the whole Jesus nimbus behind your head. The second one's a bit too evil for that... maybe for the token "lookit me, I'm a dictator" posts.

Hmmm. I see it too. But that doesn't really mean that you haven't gone mad.
