I mean damn, he's being pushed like a damn main eventer on RAW. He gets a shitload of TV time and just picked up a win against Jericho this Monday. He even main evented a few times. Am I the only one who cant stand this guy. He's so damn boring yet he still gets a monster push. And speaking of undeserving pushes, what about Hardcore Holly?! Does anyone like or care about this guy? He is just plain annoying and now WWE is making it appear that Lesnar is afraid of him. This Holly/Lesnar feud reminds me of the Big Show/Bossman feud. Both were crap and Show beat Bossman in about 5 mins. I really hope at Rumble Lesnar beats Holly in 5 minutes. Does anyone else agree Henry and Holly should not be getting pushes?

I'm not too fond of Mizark being booked as a monster; I enjoyed him more as a comedy act. Because of the comedy stigma, I feel like I'm being force-fed the new Mark Henry.

As for Bob Holly... I've never really been a fan. I haven't been watching SmackDown! lately, so when I saw the ad for the Royal Rumble promoting Holly/Lesnar for the SmackDown! main event... I laughed for a while.

I dont really mind Mark Henry the character its his awkwardness in matches that bother me. Holly on the other hand is someone who I can't stand with a passion. Speaking of stigma i can picture him now with his mullet. Gotta love Sparky

Mark Henry's fine.....he has more intensity than any other hoss currently on the roster

Holly.....well, Holly was way better as a heel. Way too much of a jackass for anyone to want to cheer

I can put up with Henry if it means more TV time for Teddy Long. Henry's got a 10-year contract, and he hasn't been humiliated out of it like I'm sure Vince tried to do with all those crappy angles he was in....I say, if he survived the Mae Young and Sammy angles without putting up a fuss, he deserves a push.

Hardcore Holly sucks. Ever since his TE3 performance and his "I don't know him so I don't have to respect him" line about Matt, I just can't stand the guy. He's a bully, plain and simple.

I do LIKE and CARE about Hardcore Holly and watching the crowd reaction on the past SD...I would say that the crowd is behind him too!! I realise that he was in his home state but he was getting a pop like he was in his home TOWN. What the hell is the problem with this push against Brock?? I'm a Holly mark...I'll be the first to admit it...but he's drawing people in even if that includes people who want to see him get squashed...any fan love is fine by my books and it seems that half the guys posting here have a hard-on against him EITHER because Holly started out with a crap gimmick or because of the "ACTING" he pulled on TE3...this is entertainment folks...and by the way...it must have worked because you guys still moan about it!! If I had a buck for every guy who had a crap gimmick in their early years in the WWE...I'd be one rich grrl

Get over posting crap that tries to get folks to stroke your ego!!

There's a difference between hating the character and hating the man. "It must have worked because you guys still moan about it".....what worked?

And finally, what's meant by the comment "stop posting crap that tries to get folks to stroke your ego!!".....I don't get where you get that from this thread.

TE3 was what I was talking about mate...and no one here knows any of these men and women personally so I was refering to the character

Tioabmf seems to like posting junk that he thinks will get people to agree with him without an argument...ie whats the point of this thread other then to moan without actually posting any thing of note or interest...its getting a little old...

Cheers,

Erin

It's funny, because I think Ta2grrl has a point. It is pretty easy to start a thread that you know most people will agree with. It's as if I wanted to start a thread about hating on Steve Austin beating up on the good workers. Then again, I saw a lot of opposition to TIO's thread hating on Smackdown.

Now at the same time, I completely agree with TIO in this case. I have never masked my hatred of Mark Henry or Hardcore Holly. Mark Henry has shown no real willingness to improve, and he has only even been somewhat over when he was placed in a comedy role. Most of us cannot take Henry seriously as a killer heel because we all know better. I want to suspend my disbelief, but in this case I just can't.

Hardcore is another guy who just hasn't really ever improved. He was a dud out of the gate, had about two months out of 9 years where he was actually over at all (ironically when he, like Henry, did a comedy gimmick about being a "super heavyweight"), and is still getting a push in spite of it all. From all accounts, he also happens to be a jerk in real life.

I respect Holly for being loyal to the WWF/E all this time, but the truth is that he is just not very charismatic. I know that I will be rooting very hard for Brock when I go to the Rumble in Philly. Holly, like Gunn, is just not someone I would build a brand around.

Damn you WWE for making me change my sig. I'm sure you have good enough reasons to get rid of Shannon, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Let me thus be the first to say: BRING BACK DAFFNEY!

He was well on his way to the IC title and being over...back when it meant something...before his arm break to Angle. He never REALLY has been pushed before so I don't understand why all the opposition to it now?!? I don't think the idea is to make Hardcore the next Golden Boy...like Brock Lesnar...but simply to to allow a hard worker...and someone who has made drastic improvement to his mic skills in the last couple of months alone...a chance to be AROUND the spotlight. Let him have a go at Brock...let's see the big boy bleed a bit...MAYBE even drop the title to Hardcore for a month and then pass it off to Benoit or Cena or even back to Brock. We all agree that the lack of title defence is killing us all as fans...why not give it to a guy who would like nothing better then to fight for his shot every night??

As for Robert Howard as a person...I've never met him and I have no idea what he's like. To assume that Bob Holly and Bob Howard are synonomous (sp) seems a bit niave though. This is STILL entertainment people...chances are they played it up for the ratings and continue to do so now when it pleases them.

I quite like what they are doing with Mark Henry. he's being used the same way that the Big Show is, a big, strong, immobile monster. His ring work isn't great, but it doesn't really matter. You get a sense that he would destroy anyone he got his hands on, but lacks the agility to really get the job done. Craftier wrestlers can get a win out of him due to skill, but if he uses his strength, he wins. If nothing else, it puts a fresh face into the main event mix, as opposed to the HHH show every Monday night. And more Teddy Long is always a good thing.

I do rather like Bob Holly. He's intense, has a believable persona and years of backstory and is as good on the mic as anyone on Smackdown. And if you're really having a hard time understanding his push then you must not be watching with the sound turned on. He's not going to win the title, but both he and Brock will come out of their feud looking better than they did before. The measure of success in this one is more on how ready they can get Brock for WrestleMania than it is in making Hardcore Holly the next big thing.

As far as if he's a jerk in real life, if he is, I can't particularly blame him. He's been in WWE since 1993 and didn't get a decent gimmick until 1998. Then, just as he got rolling, they killed him off by introducing Crash Holly as his cousin. Then he went down with an injury caused by the sloppiness of a new guy getting a main event push because of his amateur credentials, and still managed to finish the match (with a broken arm) and put the guy over like he's supposed to. Then after that rehabilitation, he went down again with an injury caused by the sloppiness of a new guy getting a main event push because of size and his amateur credentials, and still managed to finish the match (with a broken neck!) and put the guy over like he's supposed to. The guy deserves a title shot as much as Benoit or Guerrero do, and has been getting as good a crowd reaction in the last 2 months as either.

Usually when there is an accident, there can be blame aportioned to both parties. I didn't see the Angle one so I won't comment, but as has been stated on this site on numerous occasions, Holly was not quite the portrait of innocence you would have us believe in the incident with Lesnar.

Is the man a jerk in real life, or is he not. Personally I don't really care. I don't know him in real life, and thus I don't have to deal with him in real life. He can be the biggest asshole in the world, make an asshole cake and walk right through the middle of it for all I care, so long as he entertains me. I remember watching CHiPs as a young fella, and my cousins would ask "why do you watch that show? You know that guy is an asshole in real life" Because it entertained me, and Poncho wasn't an asshole at me.

Which brings me back to Bob Holly. The man doesn't entertain me - never has.

I agree, but I have doubts it would entertain me. That said, will I buy the Rumble? My oath I will, because the quality of the leadup matches is not important in my decision process to buy the Rumble. The Royal Rumble event entertains me. They could have Jarrad before Subway vs the crazy homeless guy from up the street fighting for the WWE title and I would still buy the rumble. So by that rational the WWE has timed the 'push' of Holly well. I'm not entertained, but I've still got my wallet out, thus they can give a title shot to a man "who's paid his dues" and not miss out on my dollars.

Summary
I don't find Bob Holly entertaining.

I wouldn't trust a lot of the pops you hear on Smackdown.

Be that as it may, Holly seems to be over enough. I think he worked better as a HEEL, but that's just me.

Henry is finally being used in an interesting role.
As someone said he is now a monster, that overpowers everyone. He doesn't have to be agile, he doesn't have to be fancy. He is brute force. They are playing to that side of him now. It makes for fun moments (And Teddy Long rules)
Do I believe he is a main eventer? No. But he isn't really used as such. So what that he beats Jericho. I haven't seen Raw yet (Being in Europe) but I believe it was via interference/misunderstanding/andwhatnot due to Trish and Jazz..

As for Holly.
Strictly looking at the storyline it is interesting.
Lesnar injured this guy, taking a year from his career who comes back and wants revenge. Holly doesn't care about the title, he doesn't even really want a match. He wants a fight and injure Brock.
Lesnar knows this and thus runs like hell. I would too..

In reality it sucks. I am not interested in Hardcore Holly. No emotional connection. Add to that the fact that apparently he is an ass and the rumor that he deadweighed himself on the powerbomb -thus partly being responsible for the injury- makes him very easy to dislike in this feud..

So the verdict on him is I don't need to see him at all..

*sigh* Why bother?

If that was acting he did on TE3, it was good enough acting to convince a lot of people that he really did brutally stiff a poor kid who couldn't defend himself.

There's no conflict for me with Bob Holly. I see nothing in him as a wrestler, and it looks like I wouldn't care for him as a person either.

Mark Henry, on the other does nothing for me, but I kinda feel for him. I'd like to see him and Jazz get together. Compared to what he's had in the past, she probably looks good to him.
