That was a decent episode of Sunday Night Heat...errr...oh wait, that was RAW! Seriously that was one weak ass RAW. The ending this week was worse then Smackdowns. RAW really feels less special without Bischoff, and the whole Lawler thing was pointless, it didnt even lead to a match.

For the main event am I the only one who thought they would go with Orton/Flair/Batista vs. Dudleyz/Lawler? It would of been much better. The show was sloppy and you could tell it was quickly put together.

Easily the worst RAW of the year! (<---- You get it?! Its only the first RAW of the year...HA HA HA HA HA! I kill myself!)

    HERE HERE!

I can't understand the total apathy and outright hatred he seems to get from the IWC these days.

I've been a fan of his for over 10 years now, had the pleasure of meeting the man, so maybe I'm biased, but I'll probably never get tired of his routine. Quite simmilar to Hogan actually...

Roy, you nailed the key word - routine. That's all Austin seems to do nowadays; that being walk out, say "ass" a few times, give a stunner, drink beer. Repeat next week. Austin gets tremendous heat for this, don't get me wrong. But it's doing no one but Austin any good because there's no way to siphon that heat to someone who could actually use it (read: an active wrestler). So Austin gets more over than he already is, but since he's not going to wrestle it provides zero net effect to Raw in general.

Now if Austin were to "show a little ass" every now and then (much like the "legends" that Randy Orton has "killed") then I think the IWC would be more sympathetic to Austin's case of being a focal point of Raw. However, Austin is still booked to make everyone else look like a jackass, so I can see where the apathy comes from.

An OK Raw....Teddy Long as GM was a little disappointing since you figured he'd do more to help out Mark Henry then he did...I share the sentiment that though I like Austin (and for those that say he should go away, listen to the pop and look at his T-shirt sales, he isnt going anywhere), but sheriff Austin needs to switch over to maybe commissioner Austin or something less lame than sheriff...count me as another person that was expecting Christian to be in the shower with Trish, or Lita to come out touched by Jericho's sincerity and try to get some vitamin C...that Mark Henry vs RVD match was a lot better than some online are giving it credit for, I especially liked the jump through the ropes on top of RVD move that Mark Henry did, that looked brutal...I also laughed at coach falling over after the Kane pyro went off...I think coach needs to learn that the heel annoucer tries to legitimize heel actions of the heel wrestlers and cheer for heel wrestlers, and not make fun of the face announcer constantly, because that gets annoying...HHH cracked me up, and I dont know how Austin kept a straight face, I think HHH and HBK can have another classic match at the Rumble, which combined with an unpredictable rumble match may make this a definite must see PPV....good to see Jazz back, but I was hoping she would save Trish and they could do a whole respect sort of thing...that was some intensity from Booker that is nice to see again...I think the main event could have been better with a little more time, it seemed rushed...overall a decent show

    HERE HERE!

I can't understand the total apathy and outright hatred he seems to get from the IWC these days.

Maybe it's because he's treated as the biggest star on the show despite the fact that he can't wrestle?

That they don't use him to put over or benefit other guys?

That the only person who seems to benefit from Austin's role is Austin?

That he's never made to look vulnerable in the slightest?

That he makes any heel he goes up against look like shit (save for precious HHH)?

Anyway, pretty poor Raw. I enjoyed the Jericho/Christian vs. Helms/Rosey match, but everything else was "blah" or worse.

--Spike over Dupree why?

--Stevie over Test by rollup (for the 34rd week in a row)? If they want to push Stevie, have him actually win w/ a finisher.

--What the hell was Mae Young doing there? She just happened to be in Memphis, so she stopped by the arena for a shower??? What the hell was the point of that? The Jericho/Trish storyline has been one of the highlights of the show, and they stick that crap in there? In SK's Raw rant, he mentioned it should have been Lita, who would relay the info to Trish, who wouldn't believe her, and I have to agree. Instead they go the "comedy" route.

--where was Matt Hardy?

--all the "racist" stuff was unsettling, especially when they have the redneck character chase the black man, drink beer, & then kick the black man's ass.

Thumbs down.

As stupid and corny as it may be (and it is very stupid and corny), the people love it! The people still say "What?", the people still buy F*ck Fear shirts, and did you see all those "Sheriff Austin" signs last night?

We think we know what's good and what's not, but in this case we're dead wrong. WWE is, above all else, a company designed to make money. And out of the 15,000 people at that show, if even 1,000 of them buy a $20 What? or F*ck Fear shirt, WWE has amde $20,000 off of Steve Austin in one night. That's not too shabby, and it would simply be bad for business to take Austin off of television until someone steps and proves that they can bring in $20,000 in one night.

I loved Triple H's spiel about all the famous inept sheriffs. But Austin's not one of them; how many times did Barney Fife make Mayberry $20,000 in 3 hours?

Thoughts on the show:

*Did anyone else get the feeling that Spike and Stevie were both competing for their jobs last night?

*RVD/Henry was a hella good match, RVD changed up his moveset and actually sold a move for more than 5 seconds (maybe someone FINALLY beat some sense into him)...was anyone else scared as hell when they saw Henry jump on RVD on the ropes?!?!?!

*Man, does Dupre have "it", that dance will make him the perfect heel, too bad they saddled 2 pretty talented guys (him and Conway) with such a shitty gimmick....Dupre really should have got Orton's spot, he is 1000x more entertaining and better in the ring, furthermore he is 4 years younger than Orton

*HHH was hilarious making fun of SCSA last night, that was a classic HHH promo

*I laughed my ass off at SCSA screwing up on the ATV and then Long just standing there, the Coach was awesome falling out of the chair

*Why is Kane not up there w/ HHH and HBK?

But they don't need to take him off TV. Scale back his time a bit, and use his popularity to "give the rub" to other guys. So, instead of 1 guy making them $20,000, they could have the $20,000 plus make money on whomever else Austin can benefit.

It will be even worse for business if the fans turn on Austin the way they turned on Hogan once the act goes stale. Since WWE spent their TV time putting Austin over everyone else for the sake of merchandising, there will be no one believable to pick up the slack should Austin get X-Pac Go Away Heat™.

Haven't seen the whole thing because I was working on the computer doing upgrading. HHH's promo, best he's done in a while. Most else was pretty humdrum, but JAZZ! WELCOME BACK! MISSED YOU, GIRL! YOU LOOK GREAT! KEEP THE BANG! Give Steve Richards the ol' Heidenriech push, and all will be right with the world. Uh, like I said, Raw was pretty nothing happening, though I appreciate seeing Teddy run the show.

I'd say that whole Mae Young thing wasn't so terrible. I could tell she was wearing one of those strapless bras (black I believe). Under a towel? Must be saving that for somebody. I know the sight of an 80 year old lady in Victoria's Secret lingerie could still be terrifying, but an 80 year old Torrie Wilson? Now that's scary!

Warning: Another boring TV report

-Long/Lawler/Orton interview- Start off with Long cashing in on Henry's favor (Didn't Henry use it the day after on his Booker T match! I swear that's what they said the day after SurSeries, whatever) Bisch accepts and takes off(wow thanks for coming! would pre plan good enough to do that last week backstage and show it this week, naaaa)... Long comes out and calls every one a racist and says the Mayor of Memphis was black (ahh the only way a black man can get into office is when he goes up against someone like Lawler, kind of a shame). Lawler comes out and confronts but gets RKO, Add the Memphis legend to Randy's list(and nice to be Lawler free for the night, or was it? it' wasn’t').

-Spike vs. Dupree- The show an incident that happen 4 months ago, yup that had to be the scariest bump of the 2003. It's almost impossible concentrating on this match with J.R and Coach yelling back and forth. Spike rolls up Dupree for the pin at just under 4-minutes, which seemed much longer... Spike celebrates with the other Dudley's but Batista and Flair attacks them. Flair (or anyone) t-shirt and little tights combo is always a little disturbing

-Jericho/Christian vs. Rosey/Hurricane- Yippee Lawler is back already. The fans don't know what to make of Jericho now, either do I. Hurricane got a brutal haircut for Christmas. Rosey lost his mask during the match OMG Rosey is actually umm Rosey!... Why is every other move by Christian, J.R calls it the "Unprettier". That reverse DDT move is not the Unprettier. Christian and Jericho actually WON with no miscommunication at all, this turn to nowhere gets more and more complex. Pretty decent match and good action for the 5-minutes and a pretty clean and solid finish

-Richards vs. Test- What's the bigger shocker. Rico winning continually vs. John WhatsHisName or Stevie going 3 and oooh vs. Test. I dig Stevie a lot glad he's getting a push... I dig Victoria as well, she looked very very umm solid tonight. Did the fans pop more for Test booting Victoria then they did for Stevie going postal on Test afterwards. Gawd I hate our fellow wrestling populous sometimes (well most of the time). Come on don't pop for a woman taking a boot, it's not like she refused to drink beer or anything.

-Austin/HHH/Michaels interview- I first have to say I don't hate Austin, I supported him for the longest time. I never minded what role Austin played, I like him on my TV. But this Sheriff thing is the SurSeries stipulation IF HE WON. He has authority AND can kick anyone’s ass, what was Survivor Series for. Add insult to injury he comes back before of freakin Linda McMahon, Yep lets not bother actually putting any legit wrestling personality over in getting him back. NOPE lets get over a faceless board of directors and Linda McMahon... Saying all that I did laugh at the little badge Austin had. And Austin is just so good acting in what he does, he looks so proud of his little badge. I also have to give props to HHH, he was pretty funny running down Austin and his badge. HHH and HBK in a last man standing. ahh I'm not crazy about LMS matches, the delay 10 counts are lame IMO.

-Trish vs. Molly- Good match by these two. I like that reverse Trish did on her own Stratusfaction into a sunset flip. And that chick kick from the apron looked solid too... Jazz returns and attacks Trish, deja vu all over again. Jericho comes out and saves Trish from an attack deja vu all over again (wow did I just say that, talk about your deja vu!!)

-RVD vs. Henry- Gawd Mark you are 450 pounds you can't bother catching RVD when he dives over the top rope. Of course right after RVD gets smacked in the head with a chair. Austin comes riding out in a ATV of all things, he crashes into the ring, this SOB better not crash into Lillian. He chases Teddy around and around and around and to the back... We come back to a NO DQ match. Yikes that Jumping on a guy while his neck is resting on the ropes is one of the most sickest wrestling moves right now. Henry Hulks Up after the Van Terminator(This is like the most bizarre match ever!). RVD finally hits the Van Damanator along with a 5Star splash on the cushy Henry for the pin. Austin comes out to get more spotlight on himself and dragged and teased a Teddy Long beating which eventually happened.

-Kane/Booker interview- Coach falling of his chair when Kane fire hit was one of the best things on the show! I didn't remember Undertaker eliminating Kane, that must have been one of Kane's dozen heel teases last year. Kane give a pretty good interview. Booker comes out and attacks Kane and dumps him to the outside... Booker has goals, like eliminating Uncle Fester looking ass and win the Rumble and go to Wrestlemania to fight for the World title. Because we all know how well that turned out last year.

-Flair/Batista vs. Dudley Boys- Kind of a lame pep talk backstage. "Lets go for 18 times". Seriously after a dozen doesn't it all get commonplace. What's with the new Flair graphic, he's doing some odd body motion... Vicious chops by Bubba on poor Flair(becareful with him, he's not a Team Green or La Resistance member). Flair bleeds from the most unusual places these days (Yuck). Dudley's get the advantage but we get a boring and predictable ending with HHH distracting the ref as Batista hits a sit down(err more of crouching) OVW Hoss Special powerbomb. HBK runs in and gets the last laugh with Sweet Chin Music on HHH. During the match Coach came right out and called Ross a racist and actually apologized to him a few second later. Did he cross the line and forgot who his boss actually is.

-OtherStuff- Jericho and Christian make up backstage... Exactly what this angle needs an appearance from Mae Young. I remember when this angle used to be interesting, now I hardly care, good job WWE. They could have done something with Lita or Stacy being in there and Trish walks in with Jericho and another girl and confirms to herself Jericho is no good as Jericho and (Stacy or Lita) explains. But they rather go with the Mae Young "humor". Who cares this angle lost all it's steam the night the bet talk happened. BTW When did Trish get her own lockerroom and why was Mae in there, and why couldn't it be Lillian in there, even if she was at ringside announcer, it will make as much sense as Mae being there... Speaking of singers and Trish. Trish actually seems to have a nice voice in that WWECD ad, if your into generic pop she doesn't sound out of place.

-Sign of the Night: "LSU national champs, sorry J.R"
-Line of the Night: Booker "eliminating your Uncle Fester looking ass"
-3Stars of the Night: 1)Hurricane 2)HHH. 3)Trish. - This week was tough! No one stood out. I put an HHH interview in 2nd for goodness sake.

This show left me emotionless. Jericho/Trish time to do something or cut bait, it had potential but it seems to be in total limbo now. The constant face-feel push-back it's just going to tire the fans out and sooner then later they won't care either way. All Heels including All Evolution members with titles is just forced and boring. Austin stuff once again shows PPV stipulations mean nothing and he comes back as the exact character he wanted if he won the Survivor Series... I like the heel/face announcer aspect of this weeks Raw with Coach involved but way too much and repetitive comments about football and especially race. One real bright spot of the show is the continuous Stevie and Victoria face turn. But that's certainly not enough to call it a good show. Amazing a couple of months ago I called Raw on multiple weeks Perfect to Near Perfect wrestling shows. Now it's hard to find one or two highlights

smark/net attack wienerville advisory is on ORANGE alert - High (Due to Bob Holly WWE Title match, Kliq/Kliq PPV World Title match, Mae Young appearance) 1/6

I'll agree with Keller here- I did NOT like Coach on commentary last night. The whole night, he was calling Ross and Lawler racist. That would get old (not to mention uncomfortable) after five minutes, let alone an hour. Plus, the announcers actually called the matches LESS than usual, instead deciding to banter with Coach. He's gone from credible 2nd string announcer to one-note joke in just a short time.

The Lawler thing was used to further Randy Orton's "Legend Killer" gimmick.

I didn't expect Lawler and Orton to be added to the main event match, but I was expecting Orton to come down to the ring to get involved and have Lawler leave the announce table to stop Orton.

If you noticed, Orton was the only member of Evolution not involved in the last segment of RAW. I bet Orton came out after RAW went off and got punked out by Lawler in front of the Memphis fans.

I'm thinking that this was probably a perfectly decent show, if you were there live. Because, of course, the live audience isn't subjected to the constant blathering of JR, Lawler, & now Coach too!! Austin is kinda entertaining when you're there live -- you're drinking your beer, you're part of the party. It's Austin on TV that's sort of like watching New Year's celebrations on TV -- if you're not participating, it's just boring. The actual wrestling was perfectly fine to good.

Nice segment with Christian making nice with Jericho. That won't last very long, but it's an amusing diversion.

OK, Christian, at the end of that segment: He said something about "Vitamin C", & then I swear the last thing he said was something about, "Here come the C-Men!" That'd be what we call a really bad catchphrase. :-) (I expect it'll be on Shopzone tomorrow.)

Test wasn't very nice to Flower, was he?

HHH's promo on Austin was very funny. I do love it when he gets to do that kind of stuff. "Did that little badge come with a plastic gun, & a little plastic hat? I had one just like it -- when I was 5."

Did anybody else notice that Austin wouldn't just hand the mic to Shawn Michaels? So Shawn had to hold Steve's hand.

At one point JR actually called Coach an idiot & told him to shut up. Ironically, I'd just said exactly the same thing to JR-on-my-TV.

The Jazz appearance was cool.

"Paid for by friends & supporters of Randy Orton" was very nicely done.

Some of the RVD / Mark Henry really wasn't too bad. There was that one section where Mark dropped RVD & they clearly weren't at all on the same page. But a brief discussion while they were both clumsily laying on the floor seemed to help.

It was much funnier when Paul Heyman did the "Maybe I forgot to mention that this is a non-disqualification match." gimmick.

Don't know which was funnier: Jericho's reaction (with girlie scream) to Mae Young, Coach getting blown off his chair by Kane's pyro ("You coulda warned me!"), or an Uncle Fester reference.

Good Kane promo, but it works better when he's locked in on one subject, rather than having to ramble through several topics. Y'know, a psycho should have a certain single-mindedness.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't think we had an actual start bell for the ME. Details, details.

Hunter dozing so sweetly in the ring at the end -- awwww.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I love the opening song for RAW right now... it's distinctive and catchy. Sure, maybe its not for everyone, but enough of the core audience seems to appreciate it...
