There has been question as to what IS AUSTIN?
Well here it is; What I think at least...

Austin is not a "sheriff" thats an expression, dammit!

He did accept the CO-GM job, but faked out Bischoff so he would start being an Asshole again; as he did.
Austin then returned giving Bischoff not only a shocker
when that glass broke but top it off with a stunner and you got great TV, more than that, he gave Shawn Michaels a rematch for the title right after we all thought he was fired! you see? Damn...it just kicks ass this way...

He is back on his terms though, because he has no "physical provocation" restriction, now all WE have to do is watch RAW this Monday and let the ass kicking commence...

Thats the problem. He should NOT be able to hit the wrestlers.

So....we're back in the same situation we were BEFORE Austin left? And back with ANOTHER authority figure? Stupid, stupid, stupid.....

I see what you people mean...
watching Stone Cold kick ass is not satisfying enough if he doesnt do it when its forbidden...

He's cooler when "the man" is keeping him down,

But he cant be a wrestler anymore! So what do you want him to be?

I really dont want to believe that there's no place for Stone Cold Steve Austin, but if nobody wants him as CO-GM then I guess its true...

No it's just old. I was never a big Austin fan and just grew tired of him after all that stupid "WHAT" crap. As much as I do like Eric Bischoff, I think they should just dump the whole CO-GM thing and just let Regal return if they need a authority figure so badly.

Off-Topic: Why do we need another one of these topics??

On-Topic: I just want Austin to be the roaming comic relief guy. That's it. He can't wrestle, so he won't. Heel Austin proved that he can be good roaming comic relief.

I heard that, at one point, Regal was supposed to return as a tweener type mediator between Bisch and Austin. That would be a perfect role for him. I loved Regal's run as commissioner, whether it was his face run or his heel run. He was absolutely hilarious. He had this whole Benny Hill thing going that I can't put my finger on. There is something about watching a dignified character dealing with indignity that Regal played to perfection.

I got to be honest, its really annoying when a semi-retired wrestler still gets to outshine and beat up the entire roster making them look like fools. If he is going to do that then he should still be wrestling, I don't think you can have one and not the other. Austin's obviously very vulnerable now since he can't go in the ring and its just too bad its a storyline aspect that WWE refuses to exploit. Would it make him look weak? Who the freak cares, its not like he's putting over talent or making others look better. The problem is that active wrestlers are still putting Austin over and trying to make him look good, which is the wrong idea. He's not a wrestler, not a world champion, what spot or credibility are they trying to protect?

Forget about kicking ass....I wanna see the look on your faces when Austin comes out wearing a cowboy hat and a big gold star and actually SHOOTS someone.

back to reality, i think that Austin should take on a mentor position.

the hell with being co-GM and us having to sit thru fued after fued between him and EB.

he shoul take someone like Maven or that big John fella under his wing, and show 'em how to kick ass texas styles.

ya know, not a carbon copy Austin substitute, but just to give one of the newer guys some of the spotlight, while also giving them a bit of an attitude boost, and a chance to really get out there an' whoop some ass. what better teacher could you give than Stone Cold Steve Austin?

Actually I really liked the Austin vs EB feud. Nearly all feuds on RAW were either started or hightened by that one.

I agree. Heel Austin was great with the backstage segments. His stuff with Kurt Angle was as good as it gets when it comes to backstage entertainment. He also did some good stuff with Tajiri, Debra, and all the Alliance members he used to interact with while he was leading the Alliance during the Invasion angle.

Fueding management makes every other feud less meaningful. Wrestlers get title shots because the face/heel Co-GM is on the side of the face/heel wrestlers.
We don't know who is actually better, because we get run-ins and beat downs and rarely any true pay offs.

An even better idea would be to just eliminate the concept of an authority figure and let the wrestlers try to get over on their own merits. As someone stated previously, it's A Bad Thing when a non or semi-retired wrestler is able to look like a million dollars in comparison to the rest of the roster. Theoretically speaking, why should I believe that someone like Randy Orton is a threat when a guy with serious neck injuries like Steve Austin is always able to get the upper hand in physical confrontations?

I wouldnt mind seeing Austin as a manager either. You can have him manage up and comers that need a little help getting a personality built up, he can still kick a littl ass behind the refs back just so Austin fans can stay happy, and more importantly some younger blood may get a little more exposure.

Please define this role of "sheriff." Is the sheriff a co-GM? Is he a special enforcer at ringside during big matches? Is he a law enforcement officer that arrests the heels for pulling tights and puts them in a cell to watch VKM Kiss My Ass Club and Katie Vick segments?

This lack of definition is the whole basis for this thread, I thought.

Okay, my mistake... I said "Austin wasnt the Sheriff,
and that was just an expression"
But he actually IS the Sheriff...my bad...
what a kooky bastard...

well, in any case, I guess its not any different from CO-GM, and any time he had the chance to tell us the difference he just went on and on about how he's "the law"
(The law? I dont even like Hunter and I was laughing at his stupid jokes poking fun at "sheriff Austin")

its the same damn thing as before except now he has not the same amount of power, but even more power than Bischoff...because he can override any decision and as he said, "Stunner anyone he sees fit"...
(Austin now also has the authority to make up words like "stunner")

So for those of you that were booing authority figure Austin; its time to boo harder.

Good questions Too Old Now I guess the question I would like answered is How long does he see himself in the business and does a long term career mean an identity change , either in direction (out of the WWE) or character ( losing the V1 etc)
