Are any wieners watching the World Junior Championships? Its great hockey and looks as though Canada and the USA will meet in the gold medal game on Monday. Canada beat the Czechs 7-1 today and the US is currently ahead of Finland in the second semi-final.

Watching the WJC is something of a tradition in Canada amongst hockey fans, and I wonder whether its televised or reported on in the US. If not, our American cousins are missing out on some great hockey and the chance to see tomorrow's stars on the world stage for the first time. For Canada, Jeff Carter, Anthony Stewart and 16 year old Sidney Crosby have impressed greatly, while the US' Zach Parise, Ryan Suter and Ryan Kesler have really caught my eye. Both teams' goalies, Montoya and Fleury, have been exceptional.

I used to watch the tournament religiously when I was a kid and a big junior hockey fan, but now I only watch it when it's on at reasonable times. If I'm home and they're playing in the evening I'd watch, but it's not the Olympics, I'm not waking up at 8 AM to watch a hockey game.

I will be watching on Monday morning, though. The only thing that worries me is that Team Canada has more or less blown through everyone they've played so far, and since the Americans were touted as the favourite going in, the first encounter with tough opposition could come as a bit of a shock.

Congratulations to the US Junior squad on their 4-3 victory over Canada in the gold medal game at the World Junior Championships. Down 3-1, they pulled off a big upset by scoring 3 goals in the third frame. Canadian or American, you have to respect that kind of tenacity and that kind of heart.

Canada had a great tournament, and we should all be proud of this exciting, young team.

Here's to a great two weeks of hockey, and I can't wait for next year!

That goal sucked. Marc-Andre Fleury's probably gonna be kicking himself for MONTHS after this. On the plus side, Flames prospects Greg Moore [USA] & Dion Phaneuf [Canada] had good games & tournaments. Heck, Phaneuf got named to the All-Star Team! I betcha he'll be bashing guys into the boards with reckless abandon come next year...hopefully.
