Hong Kong Pop Star Anita Mui Dies at 40 Mon Dec 29, 6:41 PM ET
HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong pop star Anita Mui, well known in Chinese communities the world over, died on Tuesday less than four months after revealing that she had cervical cancer. She was 40.
Mui died early in the morning as friends, including film star Jackie Chan, kept vigil at the hospital where she was being treated, local media reported.
Mui shot to stardom after winning a singing contest in 1982. She revealed in September that she had recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer and was undergoing treatment.
She continued to work, but her condition recently deteriorated.
The only thing I enjoy more than doing the crossword puzzle is actually finishing it.
I'm shocked by this news. Anita Mui was my favorite actress in Hong Kong films. She was beautiful and extremely talented. She came to fame as a singer and became one of Asia's biggest stars. As an actress, not only was she tremendous in her action and martial arts scenes, but she was a gifted comedic actress. Her work Jackie Chan and Ti Lung in Drunken Master 2 was first class.

Most americans known her as the lady in Rumble in the Bronx that buys Jacky's uncles Market at the beginning of the movie, and she has to deal with the gang trashing it every 15 mins, and then tries to nick some diamonds, as payment to all the damage to her market.
