UNBELIEVABLE!!!

The Vikings with a Boston Red Sox/Chicago Cubs level collapse!

Only question is, who had the biggest choke??? Was it the Rams for losing home field advantage by losing to the Detroit Lions or the Vikings who eliminated themselves from the playoffs with a total 4th quarter collapse vs. the Arizona Cardinals?

After all that breaking down of the playoff situation, it was as simple as Packers win the division because they won and Minnesota lost.

It's Dallas at Carolina Saturday night and Seattle at Green Bay Sunday afternoon.

Wow. Is Mike Tice on the hot seat now?

I was hoping it would be the Vikes that would lose since Tice showed nothing in his coaching debut a couple of years ago in a game that could have propelled the Hawks into the playoffs that year had they won (I believe it was against the Rams on a Monday night).

Bottom line, the Seahawks were/are going to have to attempt to avenge a bad road defeat in the playoffs. Of course, having to go to Lambeau with the specialness surrounding Favre right now doesn't spell good things for those of us who are Hawks fans.

Good luck to fans of the teams who got in!

It all comes down to a basic fact... any team that can't keep the Arizona Freaking Cardinals from converting a last-gasp fourth-and-25 _should_ be staying home in January.

Move 'em to the Philippines and rename them the Manila Folders. Sheesh!

It's not like we would've signed that pick before the season began anyway.

But seriously, there hasn't been such an outpour of Cardinal love since Jerry Maguire.

Being an Eagles fan, I'm happy that the Lions played spoiler for the Rams concerning home field advantage, but with the tide of emotion swelling under Green Bay, is there really anyone who can keep them from going to Houston this year?

In the NFC? Honestly, I don't think so - the Pack's biggest fear is St. Louis getting to the NFC Championship game, with the Pack coming off a win in Philly. (Of course, if they get a 98-yard TD run followed by a TD fumble recovery on the ensuing kickoff, that'll be an equilizer, too.)

They just said on the mighty SportsCenter that the Vikes are the first team since '78 to miss the playoffs after a 6-0 start.

Also, Boomer pointed out that they lost to FOUR 4-12 teams: Oakland, San Diego, Detroit, and Arizona (I think).

I can't believe the Patriots are the dominant team in the league right now. I'm going to hide under a blanket for the playoff games. (Not really.)

Yeah right. I wouldn't get my hopes up and start looking past the Seahawks. That Lambeau mystique got booted out the door last year by Vick and the Falcons. That said, the NFC Norris division was by far the weakest division in football.

I think that the Pack will get by the Seahawks but the Cowboys beat the Panthers. That sets up the Pack returning to St. Louis and the Cowboys and Eagles in a rubber match.

I'm very much hoping for a Carolina win, since I think the Pack have a much better shot in Philly than they do in St. Louis. Then again, if Mike Martz does something really retarded and starts Warner over Bulger, who knows.

Irvin Favre is smiling down.....go Pack go!

Of course Hungry Hungry Hippos is a rather capitalist game isn’t it? No self respecting communist would play Hungry Hungry Hippos. Except Stalin. He LOVED Hungry Hungry Hippos. Absolutely amazing! The least likely scenario is what played out in the end. I thought SF could have beaten the Seahawks at home. Best bet would be the Cowboys beating the depressed Saints. But the odds of The Cards beating Minny was slim and none in my mind... And I wouldn't be that upset at Arizona for losing, they looked like they put up a good fight in the first half. I was really upset at the Cowboys for totally putting up a stinker and putting up just 7 points.

I can't even bring myself to bragging, as a Pack fan I just feel we are so fortunate & lucky how things worked out. I had some hope seeing 6-0 halftime lead by Arizona, but still had no confidence in them until they get a double digit lead(which never happened). When Minny started scoring in the 3rd quarter it was what I expected. Then Zona scored a 2-minute warning TD. I went to the radio to listen to ESPN radio and do my shock the game was on radio. So I listened in the last drive and the last play TD add in of the Ref review was just amazing... To make this even more amazing, IF The Cards converted th 2point conversation when it was 17-12 at the 2minute mark. The game would be only 3 points difference coming down the end & The Cards would have gone for the field goal tie at that 4th down play and who knows what would have happened if it went to overtime or if the kick would have even been successful

Perhaps the coolest thing about the whole Desert City Miracle (I'm copyrighting that one, ESPN, send the royalty checks to ME ME ME) was that back in Green Bay, the fans heard about it and roared...and the players wondered what the heck they were cheering about.

From what I understand, after the big roar, they finally put the Arizona/Minnesota info up on the board. Mike Sherman had kept it off of there the whole game, to avoid player distractions (a end-of-season tradition started by Holmgren in '92, I believe.)

I seriously cannot believe the finish. Way to book, NFL! Now THAT'S ratings.

Wow. And to think that no station here had the Arizona-Minnesota game. So we just had to keep watching the corner of the screen for the score. Fortunately, ESPN showed the hilights plenty of times.

Tell me about it. That had to be one of the stupidest things Mike Shanahan could have done. Sure you can rest some of your players but you can't let your team get its ass kick the last week of a season. If they were playing anyone except the Colts next week Denver would have NO shot at all. But thankfully for them they are playing Mr. Can't Win in January, Peyton Manning, so it could be a close game.

I'm not the biggest fan of Shanahan's, but there are two ways to look at what he did. On one hand, Denver locked up a playoff spot in Week 16, and the result versus Green Bay would've made no difference in their seeding, so why risk playing the starters? I sure as shit wouldn't want Danny Kanell leading the troops into Indy.

That being said, this could kill whatever momentum Denver had heading into the playoffs. Back in 96, when Denver had the AFC West locked up early in the season, Shanahan rested his starters for the remaining games (one of which was a 41-6 thrashing versus the Packers), and they ended up choking against Jacksonville.

Regardless of what happens this coming Sunday, I'll still be jacked for next season, because I think the Broncos will be very scary.

I'm still pretty sure that distinction still goes to Shanahan running the ball 2-3 more times than he needed to in overtime versus Cleveland and getting Portis injured as a result.

So YOUR Seattle Seahawks get into the playoffs, and no Strength of Victory scenarios cost anyone a playof spot. Seems good.

Now onto Lambeau Field, where Mike Holmgren needs to get REDEMPTION for his past failures on the frozen tundra this season. At least he's undefeated at Lambeau in the playoffs, as opposed to Mike Sherman...
