I found the Clerks Animated Series DVD at Suncoast the other day and I was wondering if it was any good. I saw Clerks the other night and I really loved it so I'm wondering if I should buy the Animated Series of DVD or not. Any ideas?

I own it and I think it's pretty damn funny. If you liked the movie, you'll probably like th cartoon. There's not a whole lot of similiarities between the two, though, since the cartoon is a lot goofier than the movie, but still, I think it's really funny stuff. If you liked Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, then go get the cartoon DVD. I think you'll be pretty happy with it. BTW, I wouldn't recomend buying it at Suncoast. I'm sure you can find it cheaper at Best Buy or somewhere online.

Thanks for the input.

I'd buy it somewhere other than Suncoast, but that's the only video store around here with a good supply of movies. The only other place around here with a good selection of DVDs is Target who for some reason DOESN'T carry "vulgar" DVDs like that one...

Like much of the View Askew verse, it's funny, but the commentaries may be funnier.

Personally, I may best like the Charles Barkley episode.

"The best reason for committing loathsome & detestable acts -and let's face it, I am considerably something of an expert in the field - is purely for their own sake. Monetary gain is all very well, but it dilutes the tastes of wickedness to a lower level that is obtainable by anyone will an overdeveloped sense of avarice. "Well played Clerks."

My favorite line from the cartoon. I heard MTV was going to pick the series in the fall? Any new word on that?

Holden: Judging by the buzz, that movie's gonna make some serious bank.
Jay: What buzz?
Holden: The internet buzz.

Well, I got the DVD for the low low price of $20. I only got to watch the two first episodes so far seeing as I've got a Western Civ 2 midterm tomorrow, but what I saw was really funny.

Someone posted that they thought MTV was going to pick the series up in the fall. Has anyone else heard of this, because what I've seen of this show so far is GOLD!

Isn't Barkley in about every episode?*grin*

If you like View Askew it is worth getting.
It's NOTHING like the Clerks movie although in one episode they comment on that and they promise to stick more to the film..only to turn into the weirdest eppie of em all!

Best Buy just dropped the price on it. It's down to $14.99 so I grabbed it, yesterday.

My favorite lines:

"PLAAAAYYY BALLLLLL!"

"We don't have to talk about the Matrix, Neo. We can talk about other things: Girls you've loved, bands you like...the Matrix."

"Who is driving? Bear is driving! Car full of midgets!"

"Look Tom Cruise. 'You want truth, you can't handle truth. Show me the money!'"

"I'm Dante, and I'm the world's biggest idiot!"

and of course Charles Barkley, after getting denied a five by Yoda, Darth Vader, and Obi-wan, "That's cold Obi-wan."

"Your mother ate my dog!"

"Well...not all of it."

Why yes there is, right on route 37. Mmm...White Castle...

And the greatest moments in Clerks: The Animated Series are "Oh my God who's driving?! Bear is driving! How can that be?!" and the whole "Flashback" Episode

Dante: What? Caitlin has a kissing booth, like for charity?
Jay: Yeah. Only it don't cost nothing, and it's not for charity.
[Jay leaves, comes back in] Jay: And there's no booth.
[Jay leaves, comes back in] Jay: And there's more than kissing.
[Jay leaves, comes back in] Jay: And you don't have to be a guy.
[Jay leaves, comes back in] Jay: Dude, she's cheating on you.

ROFL
And (without trying to spoil everything for those that haven't seen the series)
This is the episode that due to popular request is most like the Clerks movie..
Jay: "the vampires are attacking the president and the secret services is fighting back using the limbs of the brazillian soccer team and Caitlin is in the ferris wheel kissing everybody whose name starts with the letter J"
(or something like that)
see..it is exactly NOT like anything in the movie! Hilarious!
