By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."
Did you see The Rundown? I thought Rock was pretty funny in it and it was a decent enough action/comedy. I never looked at my watch, which passes the worth the price of admission test.
Walking Tall looks good enough from that trailer. I recognize a lot of the places in the scenes especially that field. (They shot it here.)
I doubt Rock is ever going to be an "Oscar-type" actor but he's already shown he can carry a film and will have a good long career in Hollywood. I also don't know what people expect from him or movies in general.
From all accounts, he's thrown himself 150% into acting and trying to improve and be really good. It's not just a cash grab, show up, read the lines, and go home deal.
I wonder who they chose him over for these roles. I'm guessing it's people like Vin Diesel, who will hopefully fade off into B-Movie Oblivion.
For the curious, the Walking Tall trailer is expected to be on...Return of the King.
FLAMES: 12-8-1-3; 28pts SURVIVOR: PEARL ISLANDS: 5 Remain [Darrah, Jon, Sandra, Burton & Lillian] TOP 10 FILMS OF 2003 [So Far]: Mystic River, Lost In Translation, Finding Nemo, Seabiscuit, Kill Bill V1, X2: X-Men United, Open Range, Pirates of the Caribbean, Matchstick Men & The Last Samurai
Has anybody who's seen the trailer seen the original movie? I'm curious if the remake looks to be at all similar. (I'm on slow dialup and live nearly an hour from the nearest theater, so chances are good that I won't see the trailer any time soon.)

I wasn't implying Rundown sucked. It was pretty good. I just think this looks worlds better. It didn't make money though, by which I mean it didn't gross what it cost to make. Scorpion King did okay. Still, Vin Diesel's not bad. A Man Apart was fairly good, and XXX, while retarded, was a smash that Rock may have trouble touching.
What do you call Albert Einstein beatin' off? Give up? A stroke of genius!
