Friday marks the start of the NFL free agent signing period. Though it's been called a "thin crop" - with the prime target being a CHICAGO BEAR (center Olin Kreutz) - some names and play-makers are available. With this in mind - who would you like to see your team acquire?

Personally, I'd like to see a recent Pack tradition continue by stealing Kreutz from the Bears (if for no other reason than to disturb their team harmony). Additionally, I'd like to acquire Garrison Hearst (ex- of the 49ers) to help flesh out the backfield.

As for the Bears - they're obviously going to make a play for Bledsoe. They indirectly lost Wuerrfel to the Redskins (courtesy of Houston) - now Spurrier is making a play for Shane Matthews as well. Unless I'm forgetting someone, that would only leave Jim Miller - and the Bears are rumored not to be pursuing him that heavily. After they acquire Bledsoe, perhaps they should think about acquiring a tight end as well - I don't think that the Bears have had a good tight end since that "Robocop" guy. I hear that Shannon Sharpe will be available - maybe they can make a play for the hometown player.

da Rams managed to have almost all their key people under contract for next year with a couple of exceptions. most notable hakim. i dont see them making a huge play for a big contract player unless a free agent could solidfy one of our corners..... we'll see

I would like to see the Eagles try to upgrade their WR position a bit. Bringing in Antonio Freeman for a year to make a run at the Super Bowl would be a nice idea. He is familiar with the West Coast Offense and would provide much needed depth at that position.

I'de like to see the Raiders resign Grady Jackson and Pick up LeRoy Glover to solidify their defence. If one of the Veteran safeties will come for the right price that would work for me aswell. If they can pick up 2 or 3 solid players with their Darrell Russell is a crack head money they could fix the D,make one more run at the superbowl and use the picks they got for Gruden to get a head start on the rebuilding that will have to start next season

I was under the impression that Bledsoe was under contract (fairly recently, if I remember right). Now, I know the Pats have found another quarterback and all, but I'm not sold that the Pats will get rid of one of them, and I'm not sure why.

How old is Sharpe, anyway? Could he even get a contract for any real length of time? Of course, I've never liked him (off-field... talks too much for my liking) too much, so I may be slightly biased. ;)

Steph, the pack don't need a center. I would love to piss to bears off as much you do, but Sherman and co need to spend smart. Hearst (or is that Worst/Hurt?) will want $millions, and that's too much to pay for a backup RB. They need WRs. I wish they would trade for Terry Glenn, or sign him if the pats cut him, but I don't think the team wants him. Maybe they should sign Donald Hayes. Crowell is too injury-prone to spend money on. I wouldn't mind them signing McCardell if he gets cut.

And they need help on the d-line. Dotson and Thierry are gone, they need to replace them. Also a middle LB, Harris has been cut. I don't think Marshall will be ready to start in his second year.

I'm glad Sherman cut the deadweight on this team.

I realize the Pack doesn't need a center (at least currently) - I'm just for disrupting the harmony that is the Bears' offensive line.

Hearst may want millions, but few teams will give him that based on his knee. However, he's both a good runner and a threat for catching passes out of the backfield, which I believe would help solidify the offense and give Favre another tool to use.

Yes, the Pack could really use at least one good wide receiver of Sterling Sharpe caliber. Unfortunately, there are few quality wide receivers available - perhaps Graham out of San Diego could be acquired inexpensively. More likely, they will need to find a good receiver in the draft.

Shannon Sharpe is 33, I believe - still good for another season or two (enough to train a replacement).

I still think the Bears have their eye on Bledsoe; that's not to say they couldn't make a play for Trent Dilfer, but Bledsoe presents the better package. Even though the Patriots would like to keep both Bledsoe and Brady, I question whether Bledsoe would accept a backup role.

Bears are not going to go after Bledsoe. They *might* go after Dilfer is the price is small enough, and if they can do so after getting as many of their FA's back this year, since damn near half the team seems to be either restricted or unrestricted FA's this year. The big ones though are definitely Kreutz and Booker. Kreutz is a rock in the middle of that line, and Marty Booker will be recognized as one of the top 5 WR's in the NFC after next year. I'd love to see the Bears go for Dilfer, and then draft Antwaan Randle El and let Dilfer teach him how to be a QB, as Randle El is probably the most physically gifted athlete out there today. If someone will take a chance on making him a NFL QB, he'll turn out better than McNabb, Culpepper, Vick, or the rest.

Drew Bledose is still under contract and was not released. All signs point to his career being buried for the Bungles. He will go down history with Dave Klingler, Akili Smith, and various other bevy of one season wonders at QB to pass through the Queen City.

Personally as a Steeler fan I would like to see us get London Fletcher. Earl Holmes is as good as gone since the Steelers coughed up $5 million on Gildon. Fletcher only wants around $2 million. What a Linebacking core we would have then, Gildon, Bell, Fletcher, and Porter.

Rod Woodson wants to come back to Pittsburgh, and I would lover to see him finish his career where it began. Deion Sanders couldn't hold Woodson's jock strap, in his prime Woodson was argueabley the greatest cornerback to step on the football field and still is an All Pro at Safety.

As for Randle El, he is an amazing athlete, but he is only 5'10" and 185 lbs. Unless your name is "Flutie" that height won't cut it a QB. I think he will be a premier receiver though.

BDC, that was the best post I have read in months.

When do you think they will change the name from Redskins to Gators?

The Bears should sign Rob Johnson...

I would like to see him with a decent team, especially with a decent offensive line. It would be the ultimate to see him sign with the Bears and take them to the Super Bowl next year.

Then I could laugh more and more and more at the Bills...

Thanks haha, yeah, I was thinking about how it would be the perfect way to appease all the people who want the Redskins to change their name because its so racist.

Plus, I heard that Gainesville, FL doesn't have an NFL franchise.

Bah. FSU should thank the Skins for going away from those uniforms. My boys are just taking it back to the way it should be. Those uniforms are sweet.

Anyway, the tally is on.

1)Chris Doering
2)Danny Wuerffel
3)Reidel Anthony

Okay, what is it with Spurrier and teams that like to use Native Americans as sporting mascots? Should we already expect when his time is up that he will move to the Chiefs, before going back to college to coach the Fighting Illini?

fletcher and ryan tucker of the rams would be good grabs if anyone can sign them... although i see tucker re-signing for less and the rams maybe trying to sign fletcher still.....

also hakim would be a great wide receiver if you could get rid of his buttery fingers.

I don't quite know what you mean.

Played college football at Florida, the Gators.
Played pro football with the San Francisco 49ers.
Was an assistant at GA Tech, the Yellow Jackets.
Coached the USFL Tampa Bay Bandits.
Coached the Duke Blue Devils.
Coached the Florida Gators.
Coaches the Washington Redskins.

Not seeing a huge Native American pattern here.

If you're looking to improve your league, why even think of adding Villinova? Does nothing for football. As for TCU, I think they'd likely wait and see what the Big 12 does.
