Storyline wise, One on one, in the ring. Nobody has ever beat him CLEANLY. He has plowed thru everybody from lower to mid to upper to main-event, everyone has tasted the jackhammer and no one has kicked out yet. Bret Hart was the only one that Goldberg hasn't pinned (Bret didn't pin him either)but had they continued to have matches, he would have succumbed to the inevitable. Storyline wise,ONE on ONE, Is there anyone that can beat Goldberg cleanly, anybody?
Yes, wrestling is scripted but I'm talking script-wise.
Well, they're hoping you'll pay to see Kane try for the next month or two. And if/when he fails, continue to pay to see who will be "next" and if he can actually be defeated. After Kane, perhaps Brock? It'll be interesting to see where they go, and when people are interested to see how things develop, that's always a good thing.
Originally posted by astrobstrdIf you're counting WCW, Booker beat him clean, and for a heel Steiner beat him pretty clean. The Book's the cleanest 1-1 loss I've ever seen him take.
Nobody ever counts WCW, unless it's convenient.
Storyline-wise, nobody will be able to beat Goldberg clean until he turns heel. Then every face will be able to beat him clean, but he'll continue to win by cheating. That's the way WWE treats every face/heel. The heels have to cheat, the faces don't.
I remember the Booker T match and Goldberg kicked out *IMMEDIATELY* at three but they tried to say he lost anyway. You're right as far as it being the closest thing to a clean lost he'll ever receive. Whether he be face or heel, no one else in wrestling has even come close to that.

Hogan had this minor run from January '84 through April of '90 when he was only pinned once, and that was because of an 'evil ref' counting when his shoulder was up at 1. And, despite my hatred of Hogan, at least he made money for his company during his indestructable run.
(edited by redsoxnation on 20.11.03 1501) Why Pro Wrestling proves the INS cannot keep terrorists out of the United States: If a felon like Nathan Jones is allowed into the United States with no special skills (unless being totally inept in the ring counts, but I think there are enough totally inept people in the US to keep that skill from being unique or special), then how the hell can they justify keeping anyone else out?
For the life of me I cannot remember Goldberg and Booker T wrestling. I assume this was toward the end of wcw, but can anyone refresh my memory of teh details?

Did Goldberg not make money? Granted, they were getting beaten by WWF at that point....

What about Andre The Giant who was undefeated, both as a heel and a face, until he faced Hogan at WrestleMania III.
There is no way that any wrestler will go their entire career without being cleanly defeated at some point, and once it happens it will happen more regularly to him.
That's the way things went with the Undertaker who wasn't cleanly defeated until he had been with the company for at least 5 years, but has been pinned a number of times since the late 90's

That's WWF-hype. Andre lost a whole bunch of times in the US, Canada, France, Mexico, and Japan before then. He'd usually lose cleanly on his way out of a territory to put over the local guy as a big deal seeing as he had to stay and draw while Andre got to move from territory to territory.
And Undertaker lost a bunch of times on house shows to Ultimate Warrior early on.

I guess I'll just stick to my day job, as the continuity man for WWE!
The smartass in me wanted to simply say "Roddy Piper and Hector Guerrero...DUH!", but the more sensible part of me answering the question won out
As long as they don't start using words like "win streak" I'm perfectly fine with them building Goldie up as the unbeatable babyface. That's always been more the WWF/E's speed anyway than what the booking at the top has been on RAW for the last year.
But I lose all hope for the Goldberg push when they start using a W/L record. As WCW proved, there is no good that can come from it.
If Martha Stewart's obituary had a typo in it, would it read "Beloved Aunt"?
And that is why I hate Goldberg. He just doesn't deserve it. He brings nothing special to the ring. He is not the largest wrestler. WHY HIM?! Because WCW picked him? Great reason.
You Samoans are all the same. You have no faith in the essential decency of the white man's culture.
Goldberg's WCW run is a microcosm of why they're not a company anymore. They totally flubbed his 100th win, had him lose the belt in incredibly stupid fashion, pulled one of the most dunderheaded heel turns in wrestling history with him (and then never really had an angle to turn him back, just a "oh he's good again, please cheer him" transition), and never really tried to develop him beyond his time in the ring because he wasn't a member of the NWO.
By all accounts, his stint in WCW should have been as unforgettable as Hogan's back in the 80s. Instead the only thing most people remember are his Georgia Dome win, accidentally ending Bret's career and Stephen Regal schooling him and almost killing the whole gimmick (which was funnier than hell).

I watched that match with Regal, I'm a big fan of Goldberg but Regal was killing him and I laughed my ass off especially when they lock up and Goldberg look lost but a spear and a jackhammer quickly end the match (And Regal's WCW career as well).
I remember watching wrestling over at my cousin's house for the very first time ... Can't remember the exact year, but it had to be around '84 or something (wow, that's a long time ago).
