Well, I have to admit, in the last few months, I've been hitting a slight writers' block. But, this is something I can't keep quiet about. What is up with the WWE not acknowledging Crash's passing? I know he left a few months ago, but that's no excuse. Miss Elizabeth, Mr Perfect, Hawk, Stu Hart, Fred Blassie? They get mentions, and nice ones at that.

Crash gets zilch. Okay, maybe he wasn't a legend in the truest sense, but he was the greatest hardcore champ of all time, outside of Foley. He innovated and perfected the 24-7 rule. The champs who followed him couldn't capture that magic as well as he did. He was an entertaining guy and a superheavyweight for god's sake.

As much as I hate to say this, but it's tough to respect the WWE when they don't respect one of their underrated gems. I don't know if they'll do something on him on Confidential or not. But, they had time to do a brief tribute, but they didn't. Why the hell is that, huh?!

I am kinda glad they didn't. Lets say you were a "new" fan to wrestling, and you have been watching for close to a year now. How many "In memory of" has been broadcasted this year? It would certainly turn some heads if they noticed that "Gee, why are all these people dying??"

"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.
Need I say more?"

I think it might take the WWE to get the package together for him, it was a few weeks before we saw the hawk or stu tribute

I was thinking the same -- that Confidential will run a feature on Crash in a few weeks' time. Not because they couldn't get something together faster, but because they want to space it out a little bit. It's just pretty damn scary how many have died under suspicious circumstances this year.

Still, I am a bit surprised they didn't at least flash a graphic on the screen before Raw or SmackDown last week. Given that he was a fairly currently employee, that just isn;t right...

I'm still frigging stunned that no mention of his death was ever aknowledged on RAW or Smackdown.

Even if he left the WWE on the worst of terms (which he didn't), there was absolutely no reason what so ever on not mentioning anything about his passing by now.

I agree, a future confidential or not, at least a simple flash of his picture with some sort of acknowledgement of his passing on RAW and/or smackdown would have been the right thing to do. He was a part of the 'family'. He may not have been a legend like some, but he was entertaining to many, and will be missed. Yes, perhaps they are thinking that there seem to be too many deaths connected with wrestling lately. Thats because there are.

I agree- it should have been mentioned in some capacity. The only thing I can think of is, like someone mentioned, "spacing" the death acknowledgements out.

Honestly, it's probably because of two things: One, he was working for a rival promotion at the time of his death. In a very real sense, the corporation that is the WWE takes that to mean that his death is not their concern. Two, he was never that big of a player in the WWE, and when he left he was playing second fiddle to Shannon Moore. Not to be crass, but if I was the WWE, I'd have to look at it this way: Was Crash Holly someone that was important enough to risk connecting his death (and the suspicious circumstances surrounding it) with the company? And again, not to be crass, but I'd have to say no, he wasn't. I respected Crash as a performer, but honestly I think that's the way the company looks at it.

They also did ten-bell salutes for the man at several house shows the weekend after his death, as well as allowing Stevie to work matches as tributes to him-including one on International Heat this week. They have acknowledged his death, and those close to him have paid their respects-they just haven't bellowed it from the rooftops.

Didn't they run a brief obit on WWE.com on the day after his death? Granted, it's not TV but it's still a formal announcement from the company.

It's pretty cold that they made a conscious decision not to give him a graphic.

Why? Keep checking USA Today...

I'm wondering if or if not Molly or Hardcore Holly did anything? I read Hardcore's article on WWE's site, and he came off as being nothing more than a prick.

MAYBE the WWE is waiting for the results of an autopsy to be announced, if it was a steriod or drugs related death they might be worried about negative publicity seen as though Crash died in Stevie Richards house, especially with the steriod trials in the past.

They have announced it on WWE.com, with an obituary, picture gallery and Dr Tom Pritchard talking briefly about Crash in his column. You would think that they could of done a tribute before the shows though

Yeah, that could be the case. But no matter how big or small he was as far as pushes, they always at least show a graphic or something.

Even TNA gave the man a video package, even though he was only wrestling with them for a few weeks. Say what you will about TNA being a bush league #2 promotion, but that was a classy move on their part to pay him some kind of tribute.

WWE, on the other hand, has barely (if at all) even mentioned Crash's passing. He was a jobber/comedy wrestler for life, but he was also a human being and a loyal employee. He deserves to at least be acknowledged.

Look what I just noticed from Molly from Survivor Series, look at her wrists "CH"... That Molly is ALL class. It looked very private and unless you are really looking for it you wouldn't notice.

Lance was talking on his site about why he didn't wear an armband for Stu. Lance said he really isn't much to call public attention to himself with stuff like that and he doesn't want to give out the "Hey look at me I'm mourning"... Which I found it kinda interesting considering the Dudley's made a very exaggerated display for Hawk.

I'm not saying one person is right over the other, just different ways of showing your respect... I just thought I'd show you the very cool gesture Molly did

I seriously doubt anyone on this board would care at all if "Steve" from accounting died tomorrow and the WWE didn't do a Ten Bell Salute for him. Being a human being or how long he worked for them doesn't matter to us.

Let's be honest, we only care about Crash because he was a guy on tv that we saw for a couple years, and so they are now expected to announce his death at the start of each show, lest they be judged as being cold.

I'm glad they didn't feel the need to hold off on the show to dedicate the show to him. I'm not sure if it's because it would just seem to be forced, or if it would just cheapen the tributes they do for those that actually did affect the business like Hart, Hennig, and Hawk.

They had to draw the line somewhere, it just happened to be short of Crash.

I agree 100% with Lance there. Bubba Ray pisses me off more than anything when he does that. I know someone here went off about Goldberg using 9/11 to get himself over, but the Dudley's had no shame doing the same thing after that too. Bubba stood up on a turnbuckle pointing at his armband and may as well have been yelling "Look at me, I'm mourning" except his attitude seemed to be "Cheer for me, I care".

He doesn't deserve a five second graphic because he wasn't a big enough star? I'm sorry, that's just sick and twisted. He busted his ass for that company for four years, he deserves a mention and an acknowledgement on their TV. Considering the casual fanbase changes over about every five years, more fans probably know who Crash Holly was then Road Warrior Hawk or even Curt Hennig. Especially those fans who jumped on during the Attitude boom.

They didn't mention Michael Lockwood's death because guess what? He was 34 years old and people might start asking questions that WWE doesn't want to deal with.

USA Today is going to be doing a story on the death rate in wrestling and hopefully WWE will be forced to deal with the problem.

Bottom line is, they didn't have to do a tribute, they just had to show a graphic for a couple seconds or had Ross mention it. And mostly not for us, but for his family, friends and most importantly, him.
