For those of you who wondered why Sparky was getting a run at Brock, the answer is here (wwe.com)

Also his comment on Crash's passing.

Editorial: I guess these guys do need an unquestionable self belief to do what they do, but.... (I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions)

Warrior Quote: "Presuming initial consensualness, where exactly do we draw the lines of our judgment pinning down the responsibility and accountability inextricably attached to each human life? "

In June 2000, Holly had his left arm shattered during a match with Kurt Angle, when the Olympic gold medalist landed on it while executing a moonsault. Holly returned in 2001, but the pain from a surgically implanted metal plate became so excruciating that he had to have it removed, forcing him to the sidelines for six more months.

One thin I can say about Holly. He is no Luger that's for sure!

Seriously folks......I hate Holly so fuggin much. He thinks cause he's such a stiff and tough worker, that the fans give a shit about him. Sure the smarks and the other superstars do, but he doesn't have the casual fans. Plus he beat the shit out of that kid on Tough Enough. Sure he needed to be roughed up eventually, It's a tough business. Holly could of at least said he was gonna work stiff ahead of time, or apologized later seeing as how the kid was visibly confused. He doesn't and never will be over in my opinion. I hate his arrogance with a passion and hope he get's injured in some horrible spot involving Nathan Jones. Kill two birds with one powerbomb.

Sorry about that, but I truly hate him. Is his assholeness a gimmick or what?

My only problem with Holly is that he takes up a spot on a roster that would better serve someone else. Someone who hasn't failed to get over in 8 years. I mean, seriously, he and Mark Henry are in this special class of unimpressive workers who have had forever and a day to connect with a crowd and have always always always failed to do so. Yet for some reason, they keep getting chances. I realize Henry was signed to a ten-year-deal or something like that, but what's Holly's excuse? If he's "legit tough" let him and Meng go stiff each other into oblivion and sell out the silverdome, or, accept the fact that this is a business and not a barroom "punch me in the face" competition.

I think Vince feels guilty about the whole Thurman Sparky Plugg debacle. :b

Holly's just a big tool. Most wrestlers got the same treatment as Tough Enough Matt but THERE WEREN'T ANY CAMERAS! Also, most of the good trainers/tough guys knew how to beat someone up and stretch them without actually injuring them. Like Fit Finlay could beat the shit out of someone and not leave a mark.

Don't forget, there was a time when Holly was over -- the Superheavyweight gimmick, where he was deluded and believed he could hang with the likes of the Big Show. (Which just further divides cruisers from heavies, which annoys me, but that's another story.)

But that's basically it. Other than that he's never been over, certainly not with the 'tough bastard' gimmick he has now.

I have to agree with disliking his attitude, especially in the TE3 incident. Maybe it "ain't ballet" but that's no excuse for the kind of unprofessional behavior he was showing there -- this isn't a frathouse, these people are trained experts who try their best not to hurt each other if they can avoid it, and beating the hell out of someone as an object lesson flies in the face of that.

Notice when they talk about Brock's powerbomb that WWE blames the situation on Brock because "apparently he had the flu."

"Alright, now I'd like to show you one of my favorite cartoons. It's a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a sadistic roadrunner, who mocks him and laughs at him as he is repeatedly crushed and maimed. I hope you enjoy it!"

That made me laugh harder than anything else I read yesterday. Hey, WWE spin doctors, I SAW that match, and so did a lot of other people. Can't rewrite history to THAT extent!

It's beyond me why BOB HOLLY of all people suddenly has a rocket strapped to his ass and is getting shot into the main event. He's been given vignettes and giving tough guy promos. WWE actually tried to sell the Team Angle/Team Lesnar match as Bob Holly's triumphant return to get revenge and he got DQ'ed about two seconds in, thus creating a scenario for a blowoff match. Yet the fans couldn't give two shits. Why?

It's SPARKY FUCKIN PLUGG!!! Who the hell would take him seriously as any kind of threat to Brock, especially after how Brock has been pushed as a soulless machine for the past few months?

And for those who ask why Holly's such an asshole, think about this. If you had to spend years as a grinning, race car driving idiot who never won a single match (save for a fluke tag title win), wouldn't YOU be bitter? Not trying to justify, but I'm just asking is all.

Isn't it a bit hypocritical to try and get one guy over as a "tough guy" when the business tries to sell itself on the fact that they're all tough guys? I mean, it's almost Russo-ish...sure, they're all tough guys, but this guy is actually tough, we don't just write it that way. It rings a little hollow, don't you think? It's more or less the same as when WCW used to try the "everyone hates each other, but these guys even hate each other outside the script" angles.

It's the same mentality that bookers used to push Meng. He was the toughest guy in the locker room but it never really translated on screen. It's a case of the bookers/writers assuming the fans see a person the same way they see him backstage or in the bar.

At the very least, the casual fan can connect all the Holly "tough guy" references to his long string of hardcore matches. But even then he was a joke for the most part and a heel who thought he was tougher then he actually was.

It's what you call the "welcome back" pop. Don't get your panties in a bunch - Holly still will never be anything to the mainstream audience. If you think within a month or two that anybody is gonna give a crap about Holly, then you're kidding yourself.

Anybody remember the huge Steiner pop/chant at Survivor Series last year? Yea, that turned out well. It's just the welcome back pop, I promise you.

This is according to TVTome.com, which I visited due to a referal from TheCubsFan: -Smackdown's aired 259 episodes since the first show on August 26th, 1999. And yes, that number does include the Smackdown pilot on April 26th of that year.
