Sting

I always thought the Stinger was good if he was inspired. For the most part I saw him as kinda "eh."

Shawn Michaels

Shawn can still cut a good promo. He's not quite Ric Flair, but he could be in the top 10 of all time.

Jeff Jarrett

I always saw him as the guy who always cuts the same promo with Wrestler X's name inserted where applicable. Good for what it is, tho.

Mike Awesome

Giving Mike a mic was a mistake. He sounds like a 12 year old with a reading problem.

Kane

Decent. Considering that he had to use a voicebox for a while and then had to express emotion through a mask is pretty good. Now that he's mask/voicebox free, he ain't half bad. Now if they would give him something to really work with.

Hulk Hogan

Bruddah, take you vitamins, Yappapai Strap Match, double Strappage, bruddah! Blah...blah...blah.

Lex Luger

Promo skills? Huh? Lex is a guy that should not take any more bumps on the head.

*funny story. while playing a tag match in No Mercy, I was Lex, my friend was a CAW. I tried to do a move off the top rope. Instead Lex just poses in the corner. I was like, "hey, why can't I get on the top rope?" My friend says, "Dude, you're Luger."*

Randy Savage

I love to hear his voice. He's like a sideshow attraction. Sometimes he borders on Warrior wackiness with his content, but that MachoMan voice makes it too silly to take seriously.

Ed Leslie

The Bootyman? You're kidding right?

Rob Van Dam

I loved his cocky-ness when he was in ECW, but they let him go out there stoned out of his mind. Granted, I think pot is like spinach to Popeye with RVD. Now, he's just there.

Molly Holly

I think Molly is allright. She needs to sit with Ivory and Moolah to sharpen her mic skills. I loved her in the Mighty Molly times. She had a character to protray.

Christian

Christian is sooo under-rated. His in ring skills are allright to Holy Shit!!! I think he plays a great CLB. The whole, "Excuse me...EXCUSE ME! Intercontinental Champion here!!!" and the "Peeps" thing were awesome. Too bad he's always regulated to be a mid-carder.

Teddy Long

"That's one cocky crack-a." Gold. teddy can do no wrong on the mic. "Now let me holla at ya playa!"

Honorable Mention:

Mick Foley - No matter how stupid hsi storyline or gimmick was, he could make it all work with his promos. I don't think I ever saw him give a bad promo. And there were many that made me actually "feel" his emotion.

And Finally,

The Man, Ric Flair. Always gives a good promo. He can do cocky, anger, sympathy, whatever you want. That's why he is still "The Man." WHOOO!!!

I would like to congatulate Al Snow on his contact with La-Z-Boy. Because we all know Al doesn't sell chairs. - Mick Foley

Hogan's promos were always pretty cheesy, but once in a while, they became so cheesy that they were great. His promo before the match with the Warrior at WMVI was one of the most bizarre/awesome things ever.

Pepa: Hello. I'm the mother of the notorious Crossroads Killer. When my son comes home after one of his famous crimes, his clothes are just filthy.
[Pepa holds up a bloody shirt. The police arrive.]
Policia I Spot: Where are the clothes your son wore -
Policia II Spot: At the time of the murder?
[Pepa takes a clean shirt out of the dryer.]
Pepa: Right here. Sparkling clean.
Policia I Spot: No trace of blood.
Policia II Spot: Or guts.
Policia I Spot: Unbelievable!
[Pepa holds up a box of detergent.]
Pepa: Ecce Homo. It's unbelievable.

-- from "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown"

I'm sick of Irish Americans, who haven't been home in twenty or thirty years, come up to me and tell me about the glory of the revolution. The glory of dying for the revolution. Fuck the revolution! Where's the glory in dragging a man from his bed and gunning him down in front of his wife and children? Where's the glory in that? Where's the glory in bombing old age pensioners as part of a remembrance day parade, their medals polished up for the day? Where's the glory in that? -- Bono, "Rattle & Hum"

Little Bill Daggett: You just shot an unarmed man!
Bill Munny: He should have armed himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend.

Sting-Sting was good for what he was, a early 90's white bread, picket fence, babyface.

Shawn Michael's-When HBK said he wasn't going to be HBK on confidential he meant it. I think Michael's has been horrible since he returned. That NWO promo he cut when they turned on the Big Show had to be as bad as Trish's debut promo. His old stuff, I enjoyed.

Jeff Jarrett-Average

Mike Awesome-Very Bad

Kane-Let me make a suggestion, bring back the voice box.

Hulk Hogan-Yeah, Hogan could be so cheesy it was good. My favorite Hogan promo is Survivor Series 90, when he said him and his teammates would go to Iraq, destroy the Iraqi army, and march on Baghdad. If only we would have listened.

Lex Luger
Bad

Randy Savage-Savage promos were like his wrestling, it could either be really really good, or have no semblance of reason.

Ed Leslie-Cheesy

Rob Van Dam-Horrible now, but I liked it in ECW when he would whore himself to Vince, and Sabu would slap him.

Molly Holly-Haven't watched recently, has she ever cut a promo, besides those horrible skits with Spike?

Christian-Christian seems to work better when he is working with other, see Edge or Jericho. I don't think I've seen a straight, "I'm going to kick you ass" promo by Christian that I've found memorable.

Teddy Long-Teddy has been great, where was he during the original NOD days. Imagine if they got him and New Jack were put into that stable, they would have been far better than the NWO.

Sting-- Sting was pretty good at times. But overall, I thought he was kinda' bland.

Shawn Michaels-- I LOVED Shawn Michaels' cocky dick-heel promos. However, his face promos bore the shit out of me.

Jeff Jarrett-- Okay, but nothing special. Of course, turning the word "Slap Nuts" into a catchphrase has to count for something, right?

Mike Awesome-- He always seemed nervous on the mic, as he'd constantly stumble over his words. Needs to be a quiet killer with a manager to do his talking.

Kane-- Same as Mike Awesome.

Hulk Hogan-- As easy as it is to make fun of Hogan's promos, the guy was the master. One of the key factors of being a success in pro-wrestling is having the ability to talk asses into seats. Well Hogan talked MANY asses into many seats, so there ya' go.

Lex Luger-- Bland and boring.

Randy Savage-- Savage could cut some great promos when he was focused. Unfortunatley, more times than not, his promos would be non-sensical ramblings about nothing.

Ed Leslie-- Horrid. However, I loved when he'd put over the blades of his hedgeclippers. I mean, who acts like that?

Rob Van Dam-- Great when he's allowed to be RVD. Unfortunatley, he's not allowed to be RVD in WWE. Horrible with a script. But when he's allowed to cut loose, he' great. Had excellent chemistry with Fonzie and Sabu, as well.

Molly Holly-- Okay. She's had some entertaining promos, but nothing over the top.

Christian-- I love Christian's mic-work. He can be entertaining as all hell, yet still get his point across. Once he split from Edge, I think he showed that Edge was the weak link in the mic-work department, IMO.

Teddy Long-- I FUCKING LOVE TEDDY LONG!!! And I'm not afraid to admit that, either. The guy's promos have been one of the most entertaining things on RAW over the past several months. The guy's a genius on the mic, and I'm glad he's finally getting a chance to prove it. He get's my highest approval as far as mic-work is concerned.

Sting:
I've always liked the man's delivery; of course he was very "typical pro wrestler" in his promos, he always gave off the impression that he was trying to make you believe.

Shawn Michaels:
Seema to have that certain "thing" as far as speaking to a crowd..... the DX deal was great when he was involved.

Jeff Jarrett:
Way too southern to me.... and this is coming off his last promo, which i saw a mere 3 hours ago. Basically, Jeff doesn;t speak in a manner in which I am in fear of..... when he was calling out Hogan, he did it in such a way that if I was Hogan, i wouldn't even bother to show up and fight the guy.

Kane: the voicebox lent a more creepy tone, and without teh box at the very least you have to say that he is doing his best with what they are giving him

Hulk Hogan: in the 80's his promos were like ridiculously bad acid trips; with the earth opening up when he slammed someone, or with the entire fabric of human existence dissolving if he faced a really tough opponent.... i will say though that he is very good at making the crowd eat his spoonfull of weirdness up.

Randy Savage: Weirder than Hogan, if that can be possible; the voice alone made his promos stranger than strange.

Ed Leslie: a horrible talking robot.

Rob Van Dam: in ECW he was great, but that could have been that he didn't get a lot of time to speak between the Fonzie whistle blowing/screaming segment. hard to tell if the fact that he was the guy who stopped that tirade was what made him desirable.

Molly Holly: seems to be really into the acting side..... so far she has been good, but of course it's all about the lines they are feeding her.

Christian: has been great all around.... "excuse me, Intercontinental Champ speaking...."

Teddy Long: a very underrated voice... should be on par with Jim Cornette in the manager promo.

and, to honorably mention..... Taz in his ECW days; with the close face shot, and the towel over the head, that guy gave some scary promos, especially at 2 in the morning when i used to watch the ECW show back in the day. with that hand-held, gritty presentation aspect, it didn't matter if Taz was 2 ft. 8, or 8 ft. 2, he still sounded like he would seriously fucking break you into pieces if you dared look at him funny.

I think the most positive thing about that whole Kane/Shane restaurant segment was that, to me, Kane showed that he has promo skills and can actually do a good job.

I'd like to add an honorable mention of Brian Pillman. The guy was great. His acting ability was second to none (as far as pro-wrestling goes). The "Loose Cannon" promos he cut from 1995 until his death are some of my favorite mid-90's memories. I still get goosebumps whenever I watch his famous "smart-marks" promo in his ECW debut. He really made me (and a lot of the boys in the back, as well) that he was insane and could snap at any minute. Tremendous stuff. Brian will always have a special place in my heart, and his "Loose Cannon" promos is a big reason why.

If Nate can't wrestle, don't make him wrestle. Am I the only one who can figure this out?! Pull a Gayda. Nate would be perfect as a Mattitude follower, serving as an intimidating bodyguard.
