Now, most of the time when the WWF has a gun involved in an angle it's really lame. Probably almost as lame as pregancy in wrestling, but has anyone ever used a net gun?

Watching Austin hobble up the ramp all I could think of was how dumb it would be if he started beating both Hall and Nash down. When he started to reach in his coat I was afraid he'd pull out a tazer or something equally lame. When Nash screamed, "He's got a gun!" and turned to run I was afraid my fears had come true, but when he fired a net out at him I couldn't stop laughing. That was probably the greatest thing Austin has ever done to an opponent. Yes, it's even better than throwing Triple H in a dark bathroom with a snake and throwing Angles medals off a bridge. Priceless!

I'm gonna go with no. Things are getting so stupid and cheesy. Exploding cinderblocks and net guns? Is there something I'm missing here? The nWo killed The Rock--great. Superb heat-builder. But for Steve Austin they decided the best thing to do would be to see who can out-gay the other from show to show? Is it supposed to be stupid on purpose?

Who the hell ISN'T a comedy figure at this point? Pretty much every guy in the promotion is a complete joke or a parody of himself. It's a complete outrage.

I have to say that it was a cool visual even though they'll get nailed for using a gun in the WWF. While, I agree guns and the sort sould be kept out of the WWF, it was neat. I also liked Hogan's vidoe montage, it worked really well especially with the Bash at the Beach moment.

Other than that it was an average Smackdown. Its hard to guage Smackdown since I read the spoilers. Since the element of surpise is lost on me,I find most Smackdowns ok compared to Raw.

A Fan- Anyone else notice that Smackdown is live in San Antonio, I wonder..

I thought the gun angle was stupid, and as poorly carried out as it sounded like it would be in the spoilers.

I thought Big Show's accidental win on Regal was hilarious. Now THAT'S entertainment. And seeing Edge be goofy again was nice as well.

Aside from that, the highlight of the night was "Tough Enough 2". Great show.

I also liked the "Tiiimber!" win of the Big Show. Funny stuff, that. And the final tag match was pretty good.

The gun bit though was a bit cringe-worthy, though I think using the word "outrage" is taking it all a bit seriously, don't you?

And A Fan, just out of curiosity, why do you read the spoilers?

Oh, hell, I'll be the one to break down and say it. I'll free you all. That Hogan Epic Highlight Reel was the greatest thing in the history of all ever.

There, I said it. Hogan with Carson and Joan Rivers, the first Nintendo video game clip (that was hilarious), all the classic clips of him in the WWF, getting to hear both "Real American" and "If You Only Knew" in one segment one last time, the Thunderlips clip, the shot from Deadly Assault on Shadow Death Island With Shadows and Death (or whatever it was called), Hogan legdropping the crap out of everyone, the staged tickertape parade, the juxtaposition of the original Right Guard commercial and the nWo parody, Hogan on the Harley from Rock 'n Wrestling, the "Hulkamania Will Never Die" signs, Hogan saying "Truth, Justice and the Hulk Hogan Way"...I loved it. I loved every minute of it. I am filled with love. That's right, I'll admit it. Now, if they can tack the Wrestlemania IV interview where he talks about the Earthquake that flooded Atlantic City and slap it on a DVD, I'll buy it.

My soul is clean now.

Of course, I'm able to admit without apprehension that I still love all that goofy stuff, but the newer goofy stuff from SmackDown did nothing for me. Austin's net gun just didn't get it done. They should have Austin feud with The Predator when this nWo thing is done. Show falling on Regal was OK - I wonder if that's the way out of the brass knuckle angle? They had to write him out of that somehow.

Steph's 50%, as we've bounced around elsewhere on the board, is the beginning of the Split Angle. I don't see how any of this helps Jericho, but if they're going with the split, it had to start somewhere, so here we go.

It looks like Booker and Edge will insta-feud for Wrestlemania now. I can't help but think this is building to a poor man's Mr. Sparkle taped spot the next few weeks.

Flair jumping the Undertaker was cool. That whole segment was really good, actually, going from Maven vs. Goldust to Undertaker vs. Maven to Snow vs. Undertaker to Flair vs. Undertaker. They moved through a bunch of storylines quickly and concisely. The more I think about it, the more I like it. Flair gets to show a little of the dirtiest player in the game side again (I want a parking lot beatdown!), they can have a brief Snow/UT battle next week if they want and if not, they can go with Al and Maven vs. Goldust for Wrestlemania, which wouldn't be the worst Hardcore program in the world. And now that we know that not even beating Flair's best damn friend in the whole damn world gets the job done, UT has to go for David or Reid. The only problem with the angle is that it leads to Flair vs. UT - in a perfect world, Flair would say no all the way up to WM and say that he DOES have someone to fight UT, bringing back Benoit. But even if Flair/UT isn't the best destination, I'm liking the ride. I can live with that.

Looks like they dropped APA vs. Billy/Chuck. I wonder what the plans are for the tag match at Mania now.

So overall, SmackDown didn't do much for me. But the nifty Maven/Goldust/Snow/UT/Flair segment was a highlight, and Hulkamania will never die and all that, so you know, whatever.

Booker stole the show this SmackDown! if you ask me. I was cringing on RAW when the whole "Japanese shampoo commercial" was brought up, but he had me cracking up the whole time last night.

And an Edge/Booker feud should be really good.

I mean, Edge is great at making fun of people, and Booker, well, he's great at getting made fun of. I mean, he has a catchphrase about it. So if they give them some good exchanges on the mic, this feud could be gold.

When Nash yelled "He's got a gun!" I cringed, and that, "Oh no, not again..."
I was so afraid they were going to do a repeat of the Pillman Gun Incident that I was relieved when it turned out to be a net gun.

I don't like Hogan, but that was a great highlight video.

Still, my faves were the Big Show's win [and Regal's many attempts to kick out from under him] and Flair beating down UT. I'm surprised he still said no. Are we gonna see David Flair get beaten up next?

The Hogan video was outstanding. It reminded me about how he was much more than the catchphrase-laden, Orange Goblin of recent years. I had forgotten his Right Guard ads!

The main event was awesome, it totally sold me on Angle/Kane as a PPV match.

The Booker/Edge insta-feud may be silly, but at least they`re trying to come up with real stories again. How many PPV matches have just sort of been slapped together in the past 6 months? It has one foot in reality, as both guys have done commercials in the past. Same with DDP/Christian (I loved their skit too)..Christian will hopefully get sick of DDP`s advice and challenge him for the Euro title. I`m glad the writers are trying to come up with backstories rather than, say, the beginning of last month`s Rock/Taker feud or this month`s Angle/Kane.

Yes, if the word "outrage" was referring to the gun bit. But it wasn't.

A fucking net gun? Give me a break, that's so cartoony it's ridiculous. If someone is going to use a fucking net gun have it be the Hurricane shooting Crash Holly or something. What a joke.

To answer, your question, Punkinhead, I read spoilers, because of two reasons. 1. Is that if Raw is really good, I can't help, but wonder what they will do next. I kinda like opening one or two presents on Christmas, never happens, but I'd like to do it. 2. I'm so bored at work at times, it kills about ten to twenty minutes depending on the report.

As for the net gun thing that is being discussed I have to agree its corny, but its not like this is Austin's first time with a gun on the show. It does fit the redneck character of his to have a gun. Granted, in wrestling terms bringing a gun into a storyline is a grave mistake in my opinion, but it does fit Austin's character.

A Fan- Still wondering about that live Smackdown, next week.

Highlight of the show was Booker T calling Torrie a "Yak"! somewhere, Stevie Ray is smiling.

I for one hope that UT doesn't beat on David or Reid Flair this week on RAW. I mean, it's not like they go to every show anyway, so why would they be there?

David: Hmm, I think I'll go see RAW on the same show that his archrival has been taunted into attacking someone close to my dad.

Dr Unlikelys suggestion to bring back Benoit was the best one on this thread. I'd like to further it a bit. Bring back Benoit, and have him kick the shit out of UT so bad that he turns himself heel and UT face at the same time. Maybe have him punk out Flair after Flair tells him he's beaten UT enough. Then have UT go on a final run as a babyface, ending with a retirement match at Summerslam or Survivor Series. Yaaaaaaayyyyyyy

The net gun was lame like a thing that is lame. Austin-esque, in a way.

The highlight, by far, was Goldust's title win. heh.

Well, Lance could always take some pointers from his ailing tag team partner and shoot on Goldberg, but he's far to professional to ever do such a thing, which I suppose is a good thing.
