Once Grady Little gets fired, I will enter completely into Fire Ty mode, as he now has the third worst record in Notre Dame history after 20 games, and is only half a game better than Faust at comparable points. And before people scream that it's unfair to fire him after going to a (lower level) bowl last season, the nitwit Davies was fired the season after going to a BCS game. We need George O'Leary to save us now.

In all fairness to Notre Dame, they at least came back and made a game of it - they were down 24-6, came back to take the lead, and lost on a last-40 second FG.

The game actually wasn't televised here. Then again, that might be because it was an ABC game (I guess?) and Penn State was "playing" early. What's shocked me about Willingham's team this year is they're sloppy. I'm not a ND fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't remember ever watching them miss as many tackles as I've seen in two games this year. I think they give Ty at least another season, just because this team has among the last of the players recruited by Davies (I think). They might give him the chance to show what he can do with players recruited specifically for his system. But then again, I'm an idealist and I dig the stoicism with sunglasses look he's got goin' on.

PSU 2-6 (0-4 Big Ten). Nothing says "ricockulous" like one INT return outgaining our entire offense in the first half. Super job there, guys.

Yeah I agree Phil, I understand the tradition and the following but Notre Dame football these days is just brutal and having NBC broadcast all their home games is pretty much unwatchable (NBC hasn't had much luck with football this decade have they LoL)... But it's even worse when Notre Dame is playing away from home and one of the national broadcast pick it up for my area.

If ND gets any bowl game out of this laugh of a season it would be a travesty.Heck Bowling Green could wipe the field with them and it'll end up They'll miss a bowl game due to ND making it on name alone.Plus they do have a somewhat easy schedule left with Rutgers and Navy among others.

Notre Dame's remaining schedule is Florida State, Navy, BYU, Stanford, Syracuse. The State University of New Jersey is not on the schedule. And, up until losing to BC, every team Notre Dame has played this season has been ranked at some point in the Top 11 in one of the two polls.

I think that ND has been sucking this year so bad that Navy actually has a chance to beat ND.

True, they lost to I-AA Deleware, but they are 5-3 (1-1 vs I-AA teams) and they're on pace for their first bowl game since like 96 in the Ahola bowl when they beat Cal.

ND (2-5) will be lucky if they finish at (4-8) (I'm predicting they lose to FSU, NAVY, and Stanford.)

You can't completely blame Ty. He has had to replace 11 starters from last season and this was his first recruiting class. The fruits will start to show next year when players have three years in the system.

For my money, I have _never_ seen any reason why Notre Dame should have all of their home games televised.

Knute Rockne's been dead for seventy-two years. Can America move on now?

Notre Dame Alumni and Followers/Detractors count for big $$$'s in all the right demographics - thye watch them on TV, they listen to them on the radio and they follow their team to any and all bowl games - no matter how bad they suck (and boy do they suck this year) they will always have that following - it's all economics

now if Nebraska played Notre Dame I wouldn't know who to cheer for since I hate them both equally......

Exactly. Any bowl would love to have either Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, or Notre Dame on their list. Any of those 4 schools can easily fill the bowl by themselves. Most bowl games are half empty or filled with comped tickets but put those schools in and you have instant sell out, hotel rooms and restaurants filled and the local economy pumped with $'s.

Oh come on. The only colour they care about at Notre Dame is green, as in money from high-profile bowl games, high NBC ratings, etc.

This season is a wash because they're still getting Davie out of their bloodstream. If Willingham has another poor year next season, he'll very likely get fired. Race has nothing to do with it.

I don't know if Notre Dame will fire him or not, but you cannot deny that there will be racial fallout if they do fire Ty, particularily if they don't hire another black coach to replace him. (I do think he was a good hire for them, and I don't think he was hired due to racial reasons, considering he was like choice #3 or #4 for them) But this black coach issue is a big thing to some people, they just did a story on it this morning on Cold Pizza.

I have to agree with Big Bad. Bobby Williams was constantly singled out as one of a handful of black coaches when he was at Michigan St. Despite that high profile, the regents at MSU didn't think twice about booting him out last year. In hindsight (considering their current record), that may have been a good move.
