Went to get my Tuesday Morning Quarterback fix and there is an announcement that it is no longer available to ESPN.com - anyone have any idea where we might find the TMQ ? ESPN has purged their files/archives of his columns.

I tried a google search but only found the reason for his dismissle. Seems Mr. Easterbrook took offense to Kill Bill and went off on a diatribe agaist the Jews who run hollywood being out to make money, or something like that. check out www.slate.com for an article. I have enjoyed his column since the days it ran on slate.com, hope it comes back in some form soon.
Now you will receive us. We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry. We do not want your tired and sick. It is your corrupt we claim. It is your evil that will be sought by us. With every breath, we shall hunt them down. Each day we will spill their blood, 'til it rains down from the skies. Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior, and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over, in to true corruption, into our domain. For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it. And we will send you to whatever god you wish. Collin & Murphy MacManus
Well, according to Slate , he made some comments in his Easterblogg column at New Republic that were seen as anti-Semetic:
Disney's CEO, Michael Eisner, is Jewish; the chief of Miramax, Harvey Weinstein, is Jewish. Yes, there are plenty of Christian and other Hollywood executives who worship money above all else, promoting for profit the adulation of violence. Does that make it right for Jewish executives to worship money above all else, by promoting for profit the adulation of violence? Recent European history alone ought to cause Jewish executives to experience second thoughts about glorifying the killing of the helpless as a fun lifestyle choice.
He has since apologized for the comments, but Disney-owned ESPN decided to let him go anyway.
(edited by Battlezone on 21.10.03 1045) Does this make any sense? Let's say you're at a restaurant, and you see a man stagger away from the bar and walk directly into the wall, mistaking it for a door, banging his face and falling down, only to pick himself up and walk into the wall again, and then again, over and over. Would you say to yourself: "I admire that man! He is loyal to the tactic of walking into the wall, in the hope that it eventually will turn into a door!"
No! You'd say: "He must be a Cubs fan." -Dave Barry
I, too, went for my TMQ fix today and did the Google thing to find out why it was missing.
This sucks. I may not be sensitive enough, but I can't see how his comments were anti-semitic. He wasn't saying anything negative about Jewish people in general, he was saying something negative about 2 specific Jewish people. Does that make someone who criticizes two specific females sexist? Does that make someone who criticizes two specific people who are members of an ethnic minority racist? This is just more PC garbage.
I totally echo the sentiments of dunkndollaz, TMQ was turfed because he was critical of Disney. Of course, Disney is champion of all things PC, and TMQ made the mistake of violating PC protocol. I sure hope Bill Simmons doesn't slip up and do something to make Disney mad, if he makes them mad, Caple will be about the only one left on Page 2 that is worth reading.
I'll miss TMQ, I just hope that it winds up somewhere else on the web, and that I can find it.
I think it was strange that Easterbrook got dropped for the reasons that he got dropped(much like how silly it was for them to bury Rush) but let's face it.
TMQ sucked.
It was a horrible column. Even by page 2 standards. The laste place I want to read a politicized version of football is ESPN(and that goes for Rush's stint too. Potomac Basin Indiginous Peoples; get off your high horse asshole).
Dropping Easterbrook was no loss, but the reason he was dropped was strange. Of course, there has been no widespread rage of Easterbrook's obvious an rampant anti-semitism....at least that's what it would be if you replace "Easterbrook with Limbaugh".
I consider it a tremendous loss since he and Simmons were the only reasons I went to Page2 or espn.com for that matter.
Hopefully the column will surface elswhere. 411Sports maybe?? ;-)
Edit: And my suggestion to call the Cleveland Browns the Cleveland Pylons after the debut of thier new orange unis (which I like)this weekend will go on deaf ears.

I found TMQ to be on-and-off with it's entertainment value, but fuck Easterbrook for getting all high-and-mighty about cinema violence. What about his obsession with, and objectifying of "cheer-babes"?

(edited by Broncolanche on 21.10.03 1534) You think WWE now is bad? Some of us had to live through 1993-1996!
I'm with DrewDeuce on ESPN.com... the two big reasons to read it were TMQ and Simmons. One of 'em's gone.
Oh, and Grimis: Maybe it was because it wasn't rampant anti-Semitism. Two sentences that he really didn't write as well as he should have. Hell, check out the end of that entry. He goes to a church with a joint Christian-Jewish congregation. Hardly what an anti-Semitic person would do. Face it: Rush had the track record and Easterbrook didn't.
There are other columnists at Page 2 besides Bill Simmons? Well how about that.
Seriously, TMQ was always barely coherent. The guy wrote more in one column than most people do in a month of anything, and Easterbrook just went ON and ON and ON.
Greatest moment in TMQ history: The photo of him with the Philly cheerleaders, since I had no idea the guy was so old. To quote Simmons, was the American Beauty score playing in the background?

At least Easterbrook apologized and expressed regret that he had phrased his words so poorly as to have caused offense. Rush, on the other hand, remained defiant that he was right and showed no remorse for causing the controversy. (Of course, he was hopped up on painkillers at the time... :))

Who exactly has excused Easterbrook? His column was dropped from ESPN.com.
This shouldn't have been a massive surprise though. It's funny that Rush vs. Easterbrook comparisons are occuring, when actually Easterbrook is a prolific poster on Beliefnet (beliefnet.com) so it's not like we're dealing with some funky lefty here.
I have to agree with some other sentiments, TMQ was very stupid. I found it unfunny, his team nicknames were very stupid, and it was one of the most pointless columns on page 2. But Simmons is the bomb on page 2 yo.
Mr. Burns: You are of course familiar with our state usury laws? Homer:U-sur-y? Mr. Burns: Oh silly me, I must have just used a word that doesn't exist.
Maybe the real reason he was dropped was because he was too stupid to appreciate Kill Bill.

Um, no. What I took away from the game (other than DENARD!!!~!!!111) was that our secondary still blows, the defense as a whole needs work, we badly need a Steve Slaton running back for our Pat White, and good god we need a kicker.
