I don't mean wanting them around for competition to make the WWF product better. I mean missing WCW.

I want a 3 hour show back, that starts with cruisers, moves on to mid-card fueds and finishes with the main event. I miss best of 7 matches. I miss The Flock. I miss 3 way cruiserweight title matches. I miss power plant guys getting occasional shots on prime time TV.

I just miss having something to flip to during commercials or big boss man matches.

I miss them, quite a bit. I miss being able to see a lot of the guys that either aren't utilized by the WWF or aren't in the WWF at all.

I miss having The Four Horsemen around. I miss getting to see Lance Storm have a huge push. I miss the excited feeling I used to get starting a half-hour before Nitro. I miss all the outstanding cruiserweight matches-- particularly ones involving Rey Mysterio Jr., Psychosis, Eddie Guerrero and others.

I miss Jericho coming up with new nicknames for practically every opponent he ever faced. I miss mark-out moments like when the Horsemen carried Bischoff to the ring so he could get his ass kicked by Flair. I miss the nWo being put over as a very, VERY dangerous threat to WCW's existence-- and the huge celebration that would ensue when WCW scored big victories over them. (Particularly at Starrcade '97, when WCW won the three big matches on the card-- the World Title match, U.S. Title match and the match to decide the fate of Nitro).

I miss Booker T's spinarooni being put over as something outrageously cool, instead of JR saying, “Spinarooni, please!” I miss the massive face pops that DDP used to get every time his music played. (Although it's slowly starting to come back). I miss watching Lex Luger defeat Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Title-- I marked out like a five-year-old girl when that happened.

I miss being able to watch a Monday show without having to hear sexist comments by the color commentator every five seconds. I miss being able to watch wrestling (particularly in '98) without having to watch the outrageous Attitude gimmicks of guys like D-X, Val Venis, The Godfather and Mark Henry.

I miss Chris Benoit's brutal feud with Kevin Sullivan. DDP's brutal feud against Randy Savage. Sting's (for the most part) psychological warfare with Hollywood Hogan. I miss the beginnings of the promising New Blood angle (which unfortunately degenerated before too long).

I miss Sting, in general.

It's all cheap nostalgia, folks. Go back and watch a tape of a whole WCW show. Or a week, or whatever. You only remember the good parts, not the entire amount of suck surrounding it.

I miss the WWF having competition, because that makes both parties fight to stay on top. I don't miss WCW with its boring fights and lamer than lame angles. (Judy Bagwell on a Pole match anyone?)

I'm with ekedolphin big-time. I was a big WCW fan--and I too miss that feeling of getting excited before a Nitro show came on. The feeling I *don't* miss is when WCW went down the tubes are started getting very boring to watch. But for awhile everything, including the NWO, was extremely cool.

I could have done without the Nitro girls, but I *was* in love with Kimberly.

I miss the first hour of Nitro. I kind of miss the second. I don't miss the third at all. I miss the first match of their PPV's. I REALLY don't miss the rest of it.

There's little things about WCW I miss. For example, I really enjoyed the Cruiserweight Tag Team Tournament.

A few of the things I don't miss from WCW have followed everybody over to the WWF...

I don't really miss Nitro or Thunder much, but I really miss WCW Saturday Night. For a while, it was the best pure wrestling show on TV.

The funny thing about this thread is that pretty much all of this could be said a whole year before Nitro even went off the air.

Hahaha

Yeah, aside from being exposed to different wrestlers and the WWF actually having to throw out a good product out of fear of losing to Ted Turner, WCW has basically sucked since they completely botched Starrcade '97. When Hogan and Sting *finally* had at it, and Bret Hart interfered protesting over Nick Patrick's phantom quick count,WCW jumped the shark.

I still stand by my claim that wCw was actually clicking at the end, with a good angle and a good story and good in ring work from most, but, it was too late by then. So, I guess, I miss what could have happened had wCw been bailed out.
Really, the Steiner/Flair thing was done well, Booker coming back was building to a good feud, have Steiner retain, Sting then comes back next, and... oh, well.
Oh, and I really miss the crusierweights as well. The crusier tag thing was cool.

Insert clever comment.

I miss it a lot. Up until the very end, I watched Nitro, and flipped to Raw during the commercials. How much do I miss it? I mark out big time for Chuck & Billy, solely because of the presence Chuck Palumbo.

You have to admit, Steiner *was* an awesome monster heel (so I guess the WCW wasn't all that bad at the end). Probably one of the best I've ever seen. Even if he is a roided-out freak who is probably going to break down in a few years, I would *really* like to see him come back as a dominant monster and even hold the championship. He NEEDS to be brought to the NWO as soon as possible, soon after X-Pac.

I miss WCW alot, though from the second russo as the man, 'til the end of Russo/Bischoff era was pretty lousy. After that they were starting to turn it around, one has to wonder what they could've done, if the company had been behind them, not forcing them to cut the roster, and picking up some of the ECW stars after ECW went under. Seriously, had WCW been able to land guys like Rhyno, RVD, Jerry Lynn, ect... to add to their roster of guys like Storm, Saturn, Crowbar, Booker, Steiner, Sting, the Cruisers, ect... they could really started putting on good shows.

Most of those guys you just named are on the active WWF roster, but only RVD and Booker are going anywhere. WCW could have easily acquired all that talent and then jobbed them out to Big Sexy.

I agree about WCW really starting to improve towards the end. Steiner was killer in the monster heel role and is probably the only heel other than HHH to be viewed as dangerous against ANY opponent to develop in the last few years. My favorite angle towards the end of WCW was the Shane Helms cruiserweight reign. They slowly built him up with solid wins over other cruiserweight contenders, built a short but solid feud between him and Chavo and then *gasp* let the face go over at the pay per view. Both the Vertebreaker and the Sugar Smack were incredibly over. The Hurricane's cool and everything, but they just don't measure up to Sugar Shane with me.

But, yeah, I -really- miss WCW. It's not just the performers, it's the flavor. Nitro had a different look, a different feel...the suckage was just kind of part of the package, and you learned to roll with it because the cruiserweights and the wrestling were worth it a lot of times. I'll never forget Jericho's heel cruiser reign, the Best of 7 series, Raven just being cooler than everyone else in the building, Saturn as a legitimate bad-ass and even Goldberg's gigantic monster routine. I loved it all. Sure, I still enjoy the WWF, but it was WCW that got me into wrestling again as an adult.
