Sure, the Yanks have lost the first game of every other series this postseason, but it's still sweet to see them drop a Series game at the "house of mystique" or whatever kind of poetic bullshit that Nepotism Buck is spouting tonight.

I wish Buck and McCarver would be replaced by somebody who doesnt talk down to the viewer. Just call the game and stop making yourself seem so fucking better than everybody.

Nice game BTW for Florida. This is going to be a tight series.

I don't think that Buck is the problem so much as McCarver. I don't have a problem with Buck, he usually does a decent job of calling the game straight and not favoring either team a ridiculous amount (just my opinion). McCarver, however...that pathetic little Yankee-cockslut needs to be shot before he leaps from the press box to jump Derek Jeter's bones. Really, could there be anyone more biased than this asshole? Plus, his "insight" on the games stinks. Give me Joe Morgan as a color man any day. Sheesh

That said, I agree w/ ESPN.com...Fish in 6.

As much as I despise McCarver, Joe Morgan might be the only announcer I hate even more. The old Joe Morgan explanation of a pitch: See, the ball is a sinker, you can tell by the ball moving downward, thus it is sinking, and because it is moving downward you know its a sinker because the ball leaves the pitcher's hand and moves downward as it tries to get to the batter, thus there is a sinking motion to the pitch and it goes downward, thus its called a sinker.

I'd have to agree with you, here. Morgan is the John Madden of baseball announcers: He talks constantly without actually saying anything. Babbling on and offering no insight would seem to be a bad thing in a sports announcer, but people love Madden, so what do I know.

Actually, I would prefer them both to Bob Costas. For some reason, he irritates the shit out of me. Seems like he thinks that he is so above everybody else, and that his is the only opinion that matters. His tirade on people stepping out of the box was enough for me to want to kick the shit out of him.

Holy shit... a Yankee fan and a Mets fan agreeing on something?! Costas is trash. You hit it right on the head when you said he thinks he's above everyone. My hatred for him stems from his basketball announcing, but his baseball announcing is no better. The only thing that's lacking from baseball is a superstar's ballsack for him to firmly attatch his mouth to. Costas sucked Jordan's dick so hard in the 98 finals against the Jazz. It seemed that he knew it was an important time in basketball history and he wanted to put his stamp on it, hoping that his voice calling Jordan's last shot would be as memorable as so many other famous calls.
As for McCarver, it hurts me to hear him calling World Series games the way he does (extremely pro-Yankee). Not just because I hate them, but because way back when, he used to work WWOR and call Mets games with Ralph Kiner. I didn't like him that much back then and now I can't stand him. Deion Sanders was completely right in dousing him with water. Fuckin prick.

How about we get Fred Willard to reprise his Buck Laughlin character from Best in Show. It'll be better and more insightful than McCarver usually is...

Is Vic Romano available for color commentary?

No, no - Vic is the play-by-play guy. Kenny Blankenship is the color guy.

Also, if you're going to do it this way - we need Guy LeDouche around to interview the players between innings and Captain Tenneal to throw out the first pitch and say "Gititawn!" before the game starts.

Yes, MXC does, in fact, rule. :)

Never thought I'd say this....

But GO YANKEES. No way I want Loria to win. Backstabing dolt who helped killed my team. I hope it goes to seven, just so he gets a taste, then Rivera and the gang SLAM THE DOOR right in his face.

Eh. Dunno about that... the best outcome would be the Marlins winning, then someone drills Loria with the trophy. And, of course, the rest of the team turns (face? heel?) on him, stomping twenty-five individual mudholes in Loria (still wearing spikes). But since that can't happen (or probably won't), I'll take Marlins in 5.

I think I'm rooting for the hand of God to fling Loria out of his owner's box. Once that happens, I'll take the Marlins in 7.

(Otherwise, Yankees in 6. Boston burns effigies of Grady Little for a week straight following the win.)

And Clemens has his second consecutive sub-par performance in a postseason game. Way to end your career, you disgrace.

ALEX GONZALEZ hit a walkoff??? Wow.

Clemens only had a rough 1st inning - he shut us down the rest of the night. If he never throws another pitch though, he went out the right way - with a strikeout.

As for Alex F'n Gonzalez? This team has a new hero every game - his turn came around.

FLorida is simply outplaying the Yankees. If they go back to New York and win, they deserve it! Yankees are just stranding a lot of runners on base and not stopping Florida's early inning outbursts.

Damn that Bernie Williams...he NEARLY went yard again in the ninth. Thank you, badly-unsuited-for-baseball Pro Player Stadium!

I have to disagree with Torre's decision to play Enrique Wilson over Alfonso Soriano. Soriano's been struggling, sure, but within every game he has the potential to have a breakout like Nomar in Game 6 of the ALCS. Playing Wilson, you pretty much know what you're going to get...average at best, terrible at worst (though I don't think that error last night was his fault).

Come on Marlins!

Incidentally, if Soriano was the best option to play right field in the 8th, then the Yankees aren't nearly as good as a lot of people think they are...
