If there's ever a time for Clemens to utterly implode (like he often did for the Sox when he pitched playoff games for them), it's tomorrow night.
NOMAR! NOMAR! NOMAR!

Note to Mr. Hernandez: the ball has to actually HIT THE BAT to be a foul tick into the catcher's glove for the out. Mr. Ortiz can enlighten you further.
Still, whatta sweet comeback. Cowboy up, Sox! Aw hell, Red Sox Nation, let's all rock to the Rally Karaoke Guy! (requires RealPlayer...thanks, NumberFifteen.com!)

Angel Hernandez: Come here so I can demonstrate a foul tip. Call him out if you will (and he did swing), but at least get the call right.
Oh, and the new Red Sox slogan is not Cowboy Up, for that is passe. The new slogan comes from the lips of Kenny Blankenship and Vic Romano:
Don't Get Eliminated!
Seriously... 4-0 staring at elimination? Can we kick the reaper in the sack once more? I hope so. Although the adage about two teams entering and one team leaving might actually be literally true this time...
Originally posted by Freeway420I personally think Major League Baseball should lighten the f*ck up, or at least get their acts together. Remember a few weeks ago, at the end of the regular season? Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, a Cy Young contender, was pitching well and looking for his team record 22nd win against the Tigers. He let a pitch get away from him and hit a batter...and he was IMMEDIATELY TOSSED. This is a guy with no history of throwing at batters intentionally. He got tossed with no explanation at all.
And then you have Roger Clemens & Pedro Martinez, two Cy Young winners, throwing at batters...and what happens? Do they get tossed? NO. The umpires let a Donneybrook kick off because they don't want to get involved in the outcome of a League Championship Game. If the umpires had some sack, we wouldn't be arguing about whether or not Pedro was justified tossing Zimmer to the ground (he was, by the way).
You seem to be having a case of sour grapes because your boy Halliday (I'm assuming he's your boy) got tossed and Pedro didn't. First of all, not all umpires are the same. If they were, baseball wouldn't be nearly as exciting (perish the thought). Every strike zone would be the same, eliminating the intricacies of the sport. Second, Halliday was gunning for a personal record. He wasn't pitching in a highly anticipated, highly energized LCS game. Nevermind that the Blue Jays have no history of animosity toward the Tigers. That played a role in the way things worked with Pedro. The umps understand that there's a lot of bad blood between the two teams and are somewhat more lax on the rules because of it in order to not let one moron ruin the whole series. So in other words, you're comparing apples to dogshit. Nice win by the Sox tonight. Why isn't Garcia forced to wear that god awful chain underneath his uniform or at least take it off? That thing is an eyesore and has to be somewhat distracting to a pitcher if the lighting is right.

Tables are still broken. I will attempt to rectify the situation. I believe there's something in the FAQ about how not to break the tables when using backgrounds.

Edit: He shoots, he scores! Fixed the Page. Palp's post looks like crap though... he should probably check the FAQ (The W) and then check out the test forum...

The less I post, the fewer chances I have to look like an ass.
Oh I checked the FAQ, buddy. Your tables simply can't contain the might of Red Sox Nation. Your tables are more fragile than a Yankee lead in the 7th inning.

Okay, that made me laugh right out loud. "Office Space" reference = gold, Jerry, GOLD!
Okay, here we go. Game 7, Pedro, Clemens, Yankee Stadium.
Martinez to Little yesterday..."I've never gone on 3 days rest before, skip."
"Pete, we need you. If we don't win today, it's over."
"Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, skip. I've NEVER gone on 3 days rest before."
I could not believe I was seeing John Burkett on my TV yesterday afternoon, but there he was. McCarver and Buck making excuse after excuse for Pedro. Yet, there he was, sitting in the corner of the dugout.
Nomar "cowboy's up". Sox win. Can't. Take. Much. More.
So, here we go again. One more shot at it. Possible wild card vs. wild card WS. Now, I have to root for Pedro. Alright.

A few thoughts on your argument:
* "If we don't win today, it's over" has to be coupled with an equally true statement -- "If we don't win on THURSDAY, it's also over."
If you have two must-win games, why not use your strongest pitching asset in the one where he'll be properly rested, instead of on short rest where he'll likely be less effective?
* If Pedro pitches Game 6 on short rest and wins, who pitches Game 7? (Wakefield, maybe, but they've already gotten lucky with him twice in this series. Knuckleball pitchers are an unpredictable lot, and the Yankees have seen him twice already in the past week or so.)
Burkett or someone like him had to pitch _sometime_. If the Sox were so weak that they couldn't win without Pedro pitching or sheer luck, they wouldn't have made it this far to begin with.
* And would you rather have seen Burkett against Clemens, instead of against Pettitte (who was less than overwhelming in his Game 2 win)?

A Yankee loss tonight and Mr. Contreras will be on the first raft back to Cuba courtesy of George Steinbrenner. Now, onto Apocolypse Now Game 7:
I'm scared, because for one of the few times in my life history favors the Red Sox. 1-0 All-time in ALCS Game 7's (California '86.) During the modern Yankee run (beginning in '95) the Yankees are 0-3 in all or nothing games (Game 5 Seattle '95, Game 5 Cleveland '97, Game 7 Arizona '01), with all games being lost by the Yankees in the opponents last at bat. During the same time period, Boston is 2-0 in these type games (Game 5 Cleveland '99, Game 5 Oakland '03). Of course, the great equalizer is in the Yankees dugout, as the Gerbil will see another one of his teams go down in flames. I said before the playoffs 6 classic games leading up to a Game 7, with Clemens imploding in Game 7 and giving up 8 in 1 1/3 innings before ending his career in infamy, and I'll stick with that pick. Side note: Anyone think Smackdown breaks a 1 in New York and a .5 in Boston or the rest of New England tonite?
Edit: One other thing that has flown under the radar screen: This season, Clemens has pitched extremely well at Fenway against the Red Sox, while getting lit up at Yankee Stadium. Conversely, throughout his career I can't remember Pedro pitching a great game against the Yankees at Fenway, while he has pitched many great games at Yankee Stadium (actually, the only bad game at Yankee Stadium that comes to mind was when that mental pigmy Joe Kerrigan through him with a blown out arm in September of '01 with the Red Sox dead in the pennant race).

Whee! I love it when Sox fans conveniently forget history. Kind of like the Division Series in 2000 and 2001. Remember? 5 games each? Yanks didn't lose those last I checked.
Yeah, but those series were against Oakland. That shouldn't count; Oakland always loses.
