Just a quick look at the sort of people who are going to keep me off this board for the next two weeks. You all remember Georgy Russell, don't you? I don't think CRZ ever actually got to her, but she had an interesting run-in with a bunch of Arnie's supporters over the weekend.
Oh, and the same thing happened this weekend to some nuns.
This happens all the time, I don't know what the big deal is. I'm not saying it's right, but most politicians travel with security, especially during election campaigns, because this sort of thing is way more common than it should be. During his time as Ontario Premier Mike Harris could hardly appear in public without threats being made against him and debris being thrown at his supporters. It's a sad fact of political life. And again, while I'm certainly not condoning it, if Georgy isn't prepared for a skirmish like this she's not governor material.

Georgy Russell is at best a fringe candidate and at worst a much younger and prettier version of that harmless crank everybody knows who runs for President every four years because he saves up the money and he wants to do it. Comparing her to a democratically selected leader of a political party, who bears actual responsibility for his party's actions in the governance of the state (to say nothing of his responsibility as premier of a province) is slightly disingenous, to say the least.
I think you're missing my point...Georgy wants to be governor. Dealing with disgruntled, sometimes violent people is an unfortunate part of being in such a position. I'm not saying that as a fringe candidate she's like the American Mike Harris, nor am I by any means saying that violent protests are acceptable just because they're common. All I'm saying is that they come with the territory and if not for the fact that she's hot, young, and female (and her assailants support Arnold) this wouldn't even make the news. If she can't deal with it, she's not governor material.
Where was this at? It says that Maria and Arnold did nothing to stop the attack, which would indicate that they must have been in the immediate vincity. Did she actually have the gall to show up at another candidate's rally?
If so, she clearly got what she was looking for, publicity. It doesn't excuse the behavior, but she was certainly looking for a 'fight' so to speak.
BTW, I just saw a story on her on TechTV. How did she raise funds for her campaign? Why by selling thongs on the internet of course!

Well, if you're running as the hot chick candidate, I guess that makes sense. People who would vote for a candidate based on looks are probably a lot of the same people who would by underwear over the internet. When you're competing with legitimate candidates for campaign money, sometimes you've gotta be creative.
