So, NWA-TNA is taking steps to really secure their growth rate, it seems. I would think this could help land them a television deal pretty soon. Any thoughts?
This is really good news, especially coming right after the announcement of the Hogan signing...if the game is fabulous, it could hook fans in, and I think it was Styles that said ECW made more off the game than they did a year of live events.
I was wondering if they have any plans to release some DVD's soon. That would seem like a logical step to me, if they couldn't get some sort of cable deal. I don't see the show due to the cost, but I'd love to be able to check out the X-division stuff, or Raven/Mitchell.
The prospect of having a game with Punk, Styles, Low Ki, AMW, Diamond and Swinger, or Daniels is awesome. I really really hope that EA does this well because it has so much potential right now.
I think TNA has said publicly that they're going to make the One-Cent Show (or Ultimate X; I can't remember) available on DVD soon. No word how "soon" it will be.
As for the video game deal, I think that's great news. Gives them some more exposure, and as long as it's not as awful as the two ECW games were, I'll buy it.
Oh, wait. Weren't EA the folks who gave us "WCW Backstage Assault"? Nooooooooooooooooooooo.....

According to 1bob, there's no deal on the table and that the two parties are just "in talks." Which all but means there's a deal, it just hasn't been signed yet.

I remember Meltzer saying back in summer they were releasing DVD's by monthly sets, starting with the beginning month vol 1 shows 1-4. Haven't heard anything yet as to when it would start.
I may be ugly, but your stupid, and I can get a job.
Supposedly the video game is tied to the contracts that TNA has been offering to talent. If you don't sign a contract, you aren't as likely to be as pushed, and consequently won't be as featured in the merchandising (such as being in the game). EA should wait until Backyard Wrestling comes out before signing a contract, to get an idea of how a wrestling game that isn't affiliated with a major promotion (or a record label) will fare in today's market. That said, I expect any EA *sports* game to sell like hotcakes.
I've been hoping for a RoH game, but this will do.

Actually, in the world of indy wrestling, "in talks" have usually proven to be about the two least trustworthy words you can hear.
The big question for WWE's future: "Will you, Stephanie Marie McMahon, accept the purity of evil and take the Lord of Darkness as your Master and your spouse?"

Yeah, but in the real world "in talks" for this sort of thing is a done deal. Every once in a while the indy feds have to join the rest of us out here, and in a business thing like this there's not much screwing around.

Why on earth are they releasing a video game?...has there ever been a fun wrestling game since Royal Rumble for the snes and sega?...wrestling video games suck, this one will be no different. Serisously, who's gonna buy a video game with a picture of jeff jarrett and some guys only a handfull of diehards will recognize on the box cover?
oh well good luck tna, as long as your doing something to compete with WWE i'm happy.

Have you ever actually PLAYED SD: Shut Your Mouth?!? Not only is it a blast (after having it for nine months, I still find it interesting) but you can spend as much time creating characters as you do actually wrestling the matches. I already have two memory cards filled up with CAW's; one with TNA/indy/retired guys and WWE guys who aren't on the current roster, and another with classic jobbers (Paul Roma, Tiger Chung Lee, Jimmy Jack Funk, etc.) Anyways, my point is, I think a lot of people have found the SmackDown series "fun".

I *loved* the Acclaim WWF Raw games for the Playstation. A variety of moves, original entrance music, animation & taunts, and recorded taunts from the real wrestlers. I even liked the ECW games using the same engine. When these games were released intitially, they were huge improvements over the NES and Sega games.
