What we have here is a failure to communicate. You'd at least think these guys would call each other to work this out beforehand....

Tagliabue to decide on Broncos' uniform flap

DENVER (AP) -- NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue will decide whether the Denver Broncos will be punished for wearing the wrong uniforms in San Diego on Sept. 14.

The Chargers filed a complaint after the Broncos showed up with only their white uniform tops, forcing the Chargers to wear blue. The home team chooses the jersey color and San Diego wanted to wear the light color.

The usual penalty in such a case is a fine.

Tagliabue already has decided not to fine coach Mike Shanahan for lying about an injury in that game. Quarterback Jake Plummer was injured while diving for a first down midway through the second quarter. At halftime, Shanahan told CBS that the quarterback sustained a concussion instead of a separated shoulder.

Shanahan came clean after the game, saying he didn't want the Chargers to have an advantage if backup Steve Beuerlein got hurt. The Broncos had just two quarterbacks at the time.

The Broncos won 37-13. Since then, they have added quarterback Danny Kanell to the roster.

I wonder if San Diego would've filed the complaint if they had won. . .

Well, if uniform colours ever result in a 24 swing we might have something here. Otherwise, the Chargers should worry a little more about scoring some points and a little less than what colour their shirts are. Besides, after seeing what they wore on the field yesterday, the Chargers are the last team in the league that should be calling attention to their uniforms.

Hey, don't mock the throwbacks. Those things are awesome. Of course, if the Chargers would win in them they might wear them more(NFL rules aside)

EDIT: And they're better than these abominable new Dolphins unis:

A 4th jersey for the Fins?? I actually think that looks spiffy, but I'm a Seahawks fan who like their uniforms too, so I probably don't have much in the way of sensible uniform taste.

Edited to say sorry, but I was temporarily blinded by those new Miami jerseys. Good lord, it's like Hulk Hogan painted a 9 on his chest.

Euwwwww. Between them and Oregon (in the college ranks), I wonder if teams are deliberately trying to fugly up their uniforms.

Some teams can pull off the dark tops with dark pants look, some can't. I thought the Broncos looked cool last night. I like the Seahawks, but better since they played their preseason games with blue tops and white pants. Maybe the all-blue has grown on me. The Patroits and Bills look pretty good too. The Saints and Bengals looked good with black-on-black, though I prefer their gold and white pants, respectively.

Bad looking teams: Eagles and Jets. And the Dolphins all teal look. Blah. And the Rams looked wrong woth blue pants, as did the Falcons with black. The Bears didn't look right in their all blues, either.

Teams that should stay away from the all dark look: Any team with red as the predominant color. The Colts. If someone messes with the Steelers or Cowboys or Packers unis they should be summarily killed. The Panthers and Lions. (Are the Panthers wearing blue all year? Those are sweet.) Jacksonville. And DEFINITELY the Vikings.

The Dolphins orange jersey? I'll need to see it in person. I thought Oregon's yellow color was cool when I saw it on their website, but the color looked totally different on the field.

Washington Huskies, 2-1. Why, oh why, did the Ducks have to beat Michigan? Those Duck fans will NEVER let us hear the end of it.

I don't understand why so many teams are wearing the light colored jerseys at home. Used to only the Redskins and Cowboys wore white at home and now half the league does it. Does this annoy anyone else?

Sigh. As long the Steelers keep trotting out in Black and Gold I shall remain happy.

WIENER OF THE DAY! July 6, 2002!

If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.

It all has to do with teams playing in a warm climate (TB, Miami, Houston, etc). Teams wearing white will absorb less heat than teams wearing dark, putting the road team at a supposed disadvantage. Of course, Tampa is known to go back to wearing their dark jerseys at home as the season progresses.

I would put the Giants in this group as well now that they have gone back to ny logo on the helmet. Classic style never goes out of fashion.

Rumor has it that the Vikings will be trotting out their purple pants this year, something that they haven't worn since the early 60s. It's only a matter of time before someone thinks that all purple would look good.

Blech!

All I gotta say is that those all-blue Broncos unis last night were SWEET.

A frank discussion of HHH's chances in Hollywood:
Dark Renegade: "I can see it now...Freddy vs. Jason vs. Triple H. Both Freddy and Jason are much better, but Triple H will screw Satan's daughter and he'll get Satan's help in going over both of them."
Canadian Bulldog: "That's just such an unlikely scenario. Obviously, it would end with Triple H running Jason over with a car, then invading his nightmare so that he could wallop Freddy Krueger with a sledgehammer."

Remember during Dallas' big run of NFL dominance (a period that still makes me retch)? The Cowboys changed up their old blue "road" jerseys (which they hardly ever got to wear) by adding the star on the side, and goofing with the traditional 2 thick gray stripes.

And as for my beloved Packers...I was rather incensed when Nike, for the 1997 season, got rid of the 2nd stripe on the sleeve. I mean, some linemen already had their jersey cut that way, but that's TRADITION they were messing with.

It could've been worse...in 1993, Ron Wolf was talking about changing the Green and Gold's gold color to a Saints-type, and removing the stripes from the pants, jersey, AND helmet. Those stripes predate the "G" on the side, folks, which came about per Coach Lombardi's orders for 1961.

But then again, you're talking to a guy who thought the 1994 throwbacks should've said "ACME PACKERS" on the front.

Star wipe, and...we're out.

In the hockey forum, there was a link to a great hockey site that had picks of all the teams uni's year by year.

Does any one know of a football site that has football uni's year by year with pics?

I have ton's of links with helmet pics, but I want uni's

I tried google, but got 2000 hits for sites that sell uni's...not sites with lists of uni's, unfortunatly.

OHH!!! You're awesome...thanks a bunch!!!

EDIT:::

Still need help...trying to find out what the skins uni's are this year. I didn't hear about the move to all white until i saw their first game, so what's their alt uni? or is that a "3rd uni"?
from that site, it seems that teams are mixing and matching the home/road pants and jerseys. guess the skins took their home white pants and mixed it with their road white jersey.

Some teams have had 4 jerseys by the mix/match and then a 5th all-black uni.
