So, I go over to WWFTitleHistories.com and take a look at the front page. Consider this list.

WWF Champion: Chris Jericho
IC Champion: William Regal
Women's Champion: Jazz
Tag Team Champions: Billy and Chuck
European Champion: DDP
Light-Heavyweight Champion: X-Pac (more on this below)
Hardcore Champion: Maven

Has there ever been a weaker lineup of champions? I seriously can't remember a time when the list of champions in the WWF was ever weaker.

And X-Pac hasn't defended the Light-Heavyweight belt since August and he is still listed as the champion of the division. Tajiri, meanwhile, is defending the WWF Cruiserweight title. I still think that's the WCW belt, but there's a graphic before matches now with "WWF Cruiserweight Championship." Why isn't THIS the "little man" title that is listed?

Hmm. I can only come up with two that might be close.

Late 1999: (11/14 - 12/12)
WWF Champ: Big Show
IC Champ: Chyna (hey, I thought she was great, but since everyone else hates her I figured I'd go with popular opinion here).
Euro Champ: Bulldog
Tag-Team Champs: New Age Outlaws
LH Champ: Gillberg
Hardcore champ: Bossman

Also late 1983 - Early 1984 (I think 12/26 - 1/24, but don't quote me on that)
WWF Champ: The Iron Sheik
IC Champ: Don Muraco
Tag-Team Champs:Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas

And you know this...Man!

Because it`s not technically a WWF belt with a WWF lineage behind it like the rest of the belts on the site. I`m assuming/hoping that they`ll unify the belts a la Survivor Series when X-Pac returns, for the sake of simplifying things.

Is this lineup really that week?

Jericho is over as the world champion. People really want to see him lose and he keeps on winning. I really think he should win at WM. Hang onto the title for a few more months and lose it around King Of The Ring.

As far as Regal goes. His matches are painfully boring, and he clashes with just about everyone else's style, but his brass nucks gimmick is getting heat. Plus is anyone else really more over than Regal to take the belt? RVD maybe, and Edge too. That's about all that comes to my mind. Maybe Booker, but he seems above the IC to me.

I think no matter who you put the women's title on, no one is really going to care.

Billy and Chuck have only been together for a small time, but they are a very entertaining duo outside of the ring and they don't totally blow in the ring either. Look at your alternatives to them: Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz... been there, done that. APA? They're better without the belts.

DDP as Euro champ... No one really cares about that belt, it's safe to say Page is not over. He's never on TV. I would consider him a weak champion. Lots of people would be better with that belt than him.

X-Pac as WWF light-weight champion. He's never on tv so to hold it against him is not really fair. Maybe if he were on tv he would be putting on good matches, maybe not. But since he's not there it wouldn't be fair to say he sucks as LW champ.

Maven as hardcore champ. I'm not really sure if Maven is that weak of champ or not. As a wrestler i'm told that he really sucks, but i'm not expert and he seems fine to me. I'm not saying he's Flair, as far as his ability goes, but he seems to be able to hold his own. The storyline is really fun too, so i'm fine with it.

So in my humble opinion, this line up of champs isn't really that weak... you may disagree with me though...

WWF Late 2000:
World Champion: Kurt Angle
Intercontinental Champion: Billy Gunn
Tag Team Champions: The RTC (yes this did happen.)
European Champion: William Regal
WWF Hardcore Champion: I'm pretty sure it was Raven, don't quote me on that.
WWF LW champion: I think it was Dean, but does it really matter.

Anyone remember that last time X-pac was even on TV? I think October was the last time we saw him. Man, this was the guy that helped turn thing around for the WWF in 1998. What the hell happened? Anyway after Tajiri became popular he became a whipping boy jobber just like the Dudley Boyz early on in the WWF. He's hardly ever even on tv now defending whatever title he has, and his longest ppv match in the WWF to date was 9 minutes. That's just sad. Maybe Tajiri would be better off in the WWA b/c he might actually get a chance to perform there. But I guess there isn't a big difference between performing in front of a House Show, Heat, or Jakked crowd than at one for WWA.

This is a weak lineup? Ok, so maybe Billy and RTC are both weak and those are two of the big three titles. But I wouldn't say it's the weakest lineup ever. Angle is definitely world title material. Regal is a decent choice for European champ, not as good as Christian, or some past guys like HBK, HHH, and Owen (ok so that's way in the past) but still not bad, and Regal fits this spot better than being IC champ. Raven is probably the best choice to be Hardcore champ other than maybe RVD and Dean is probably easily the best lightweight champ they've had.

As for X-Pac, he WAS injured, but i'm pretty sure he's been ready for about a month now but I think they were giving him a break, mainly holding him out in case they use him for the nWo, X-Pac along with Credible, Raven, Hugh Morrus, and some others are currently working in HWA so I wouldn't be surprised to see them back soon.

They may have been the best promo I have ever seen by Bryan or Cena. I loved the final segment too, and am wondering which match will go on last. The one that has HHH, maybe? I also thought the Shield promo was killer as well.
