Vince's head, in pink shirt (top two buttons open) and black suitcoat, talks. Taker, in open black vest, comes by to threaten.

It's my life, my time, my rights, my rhyme. It's Ssssmackdown!, from the University of North Carolina, and a Fashion Report, too!

Rey, in black sleeveless "Club 619" plate tshirt, pink/black/silver mask and "619" pants, and Benoit, in blue "Toothless Aggression" tights with wolverine head, vs. Tajiri, in black pants with gold dragon and red flaming left hem, and Rhyno, in black "Rhyno" singlet. Tazz misuses "angst". Corderas in blue. Mist misfire, 619 to a german suplex, and a West Coast Pop to a pin for Rey. A nice opener.

Torrie, in translucent cutoff white tanktop (and white bra), white short shorts and legwraps with garters, and Nidia, in black sparkly top, Daisy Dukes, and genuine imitation mock mink coat, with Dawn Marie-Wilson, in cyan top and black pants, vs. Shaniqua, in silver zip-up shorts and bikini top. Sparks is in the blue shirt. Powerbomb on Nidia to a pin for Shaniqua. An average match. Post match beating on DMW. Heh - "schoolgirl rollup".

In her office, Steph, in black v-neck, drawing horns on a picture of Sable, is interrupted by Vince, in same, BigShow, in blue shirt and black pants, and Sable, in black latex. Vince procedes to spell-out his evil plot. Steph must quit.

Brock/Angle FOOTAGE! of Wrestlemania and Summerslam. Hype! (I believe it)

In their lockerroom, Eddie and Chavo say...something. They're next.

Earlier today, Cena, in Braves jersey, ontop of a roof, raps-out the Guerreros.

Benjamin/Haas, already in the ring, in maroon singlets with silver trim, vs. a green Cadillac, with yellow paneling, with Eddie, in green "Latino" tights with silver/red blades, wearing the US Title, and Chavo, in green tights with red starbursts.Chioda has the power of blue. Holy headscissors by Chavo! And Adbreak joins in. Now the heels focus on Chavo's bicep. Chavo gets a leapfrog into a dropkick - holy cow! Haas gets a HOLY FUCK! award when he takes a two-man suplex into the pretzel position. Frogsplash to a pin for Eddie. And we have new Tag Team champions. The match we were supposed to have months ago. Tazz was on, Chioda was on, and the wrestlers were REALLY on. A good (bordering on greatness) match. Eddie continues onto greatness.

Tazz, in grey suit, maroon shirt and maroon tie with yellow squares, and Cole (shaved), in yellow shirt (top two buttons undone), commentate. The Heel B-teamers watch for the Ironman Match in the lockerroom. The Face B-teamers (and some ladies) watch in the APA office.

(the real) Brock Lesnar, in black undies with white buttskull (no horns), vs. Kurt Angle, in white singlet (red back right and blue/stars back left), wearing the gold medals and WWE Title. Hebner the Younger is in the blue shirt for this match. A scoreboard graphic goes up on the screen. Brock is in control, but he stalls once Angle gets on a roll. And he stalls some more, to much booing. Lesnar starts selling the knee early (and often). Chairshot to a DQ, Angle:1, Lesnar:0. F-5, like a sack of potatoes, to a pin, Angle:1, Lesnar:1. Lesnar grabs an anklelock! Submission, Angle:1, Lesnar:2. Adbreak!

Almost 20 minutes in, and both competitors are sweating like MEN. Brutality ensues, sulminating in an F5 on the outside (to a minor "Holy Shit" chant). Lesnar makes it back to the ring, but Angle gets counted out. Angle:1, Lesnar:3. Adbreak!

During the break, Angle comes back, but Lesnar quashes that effort easily. Out of nowhere, Angleslam to a pin, Angle:2, Lesnar:3. Angleslam, countered to an F5, countered to an anklelock, countered - wow! MASSIVE clothesline drops Hebner. At about 30:00, Lesnar uses the Title for a beltshot to a pin, Angle:2, Lesnar:4. Adbreak!

We're back, just as Angle rallies. Double axehandle off the top rope, to the outside! Then Angle pulls-out the moonsault, but Brock rolls out of the way. Last Adbreak!

During the break, Superplex to a pin, Angle:2, Lesnar:5. Angle F-5's Lesnar's knee into the ring post. Many holds. Belly to belly off the top rope to a pin. Angle:3, Lesnar:5. Up with the straps, down with the straps. Anklelock right in the center of the ring to a submission, Angle:4, Lesnar:5. Lesnar stalls. The crowd is HOT. Angle hits four germans, but Lesnar gets a low blow. Angle rolls into an anklelock, but Lesnar WILL NOT TAP OUT! Lesnar wins, 5 falls to 4 - we have a NEW WWE Champion. This match had me yelling out, cringing in pain, and TOTALLY enjoying it. Great to classic - only time will tell.

Overall: This show is exactly what a show should be - solid in-ring action, effective and unobtrusive backstage and promo bits, and nothing that makes me feel stupid to be a fan. Better than any PPV that Raw could put on.

Good, good show. Still can't believe people still prefer Raw to SD.

--Rey/Benoit vs. Tajiri/Rhyno - good, but a bit too short. Understandable considering the Iron Man match.

--Women's match - next!

--Guerrero's vs. Haas/Benjamin - very good match. Both teams were kinda loose w/ their moves, not as crisp for some reason. Still a good match, but something I noticed. It'll be interesting to see what they do w/ Haas, since Benjamin is supposed to be out 4-6 weeks.

--Angle vs. Brock - very, very good match. Started a bit slow, which is understandable considering the time & Brock's knee & Angle being banged up some, but really picked up over the last half of the match. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a "classic", but it was definitely better than any match at Unforgiven will be.

--Misc. - Cena's John Ritter mention in his rap was kinda in poor taste; was that Alexis Laree in the face lockerroom?

Chavo's just coming back from the injury and Benjamin was injured going in so that's probably why it wasn't at the level of their matches a few months ago.

I'd like to see more of that Rey & Benoit team. The 619 into a german suplex spot was great.

That would probably have to be the best free wrestling TV show of 2003. I can't think of one better from top to bottom.

Yeah that looked like Alexis Laree in the face locker room, but there was another woman too, anybody know who that was?

I agree that was probably the best free show although it was also better than any ppv i've seen too, but I haven't seen many.

The tag title switch was great too. I was expecting maybe a Chavo turn and playing the "you didn't visit me while I was injured" card. But i'm glad they didn't break the Guerreros up and I hope they don't. The two moves where it seemed Haas and Benjamin both looked brutal and I think actually added to the match. Now if one of them had been injured then obviously that would have been bad.

If Benjamin is out for 4 - 6 weeks then they should have Haas look for a new partner which leads him to teaming up with Cena.

Nobody has mentioned it yet but I actually enojoyed the women's match. No screwups, nobody looked horribly slow or unathletic, and it was nice and short. Easily the best match the Smackdown women have had.

The Iron Man match was good but I was tired of Brock countering the Angle Slam the same way every single time. Either learn another way to counter it, or don't have Kurt do the ANgle Slam so much. I was surprised that Brock won though.

Even the McMahons were ok tonight because it was nice and short and Steph didn't go into shriek mode.

I think Benjamin *did* get hurt. I've read his knee already had some minor damage, and that this aggravated it enough to have it cleaned out.

And I'd rather not have Haas courting Cena. Just have Benjamin in Haas's corner for singles matches. Benjamin can use a crutch to help out Haas.

I have a feeling that the tag titles will be going to the Basham Brothers within the month, so there's no need for Haas to find another partner. As awesome as TWGTT are, I think either one of them can stand alone just fine. Leave Haas on Velocity for a couple of weeks where he can have technically enjoyable matches. (I would expect Haas vs Chavo next week, if Eddie is wrestling Cena.)

I've had this major craving to see Haas & Benjamin teamed with Jim Cornette lately, especially if it was tied to Paul Heyman returning to TV, but I don't expect that to happen.

Only got to see the Guerreros/SPWGTT and Iron Man matches... still, daaaaaaaaaaamn. Taped the Iron Man match, and from what I saw, everyone involved was on point like they were Strong Bad. (Quezzy... so Brock countering the anklelock the same way was better?) And the tag title match was quite swank, too.

But something to keep in mind: Last year, around this time, we got the Billy and Chuck wedding. Ain't progress grand?

For the second consecutive time, SmackDown steals the thunder of a RAW PPV. Last time, they gave us the broken ring after Show/Lesnar. This time, WWE's first non-PPV Ironman match.

Haas looked truly out of it following the double Mexican Stretch Buster. I haven't seen any news about him, and I hope he's alright. I enjoyed the Dashboard Cam; SmackDown continues to find interesting camera angles. There was a set camera that looked to be in the third row during the Angle/Lesnar match. Gave a new look at the ring.

Shaniqua out-Jazzes Jazz as the women's division monster. A Shame she has no ringwork competition on SmackDown.

I'm a little surprised that Rey pinned Rhyno. He gives up about four tons in that match-up.

A tight show tonight. Glad I was able to catch it.

Random Smackdown! Thoughts --

This could also be titled...

OMFG LIEK SMACKDOWN RULED SO HARD I LOVE WWE 4EVA!!! <3!!

Vince & 'Taker - I turned it on just as this was ending, so I have no clue what was supposed to be said or done. Vince's Big Gulp Of Fear (TM) is still hilarious.

Rey Mysterio & Chris Benoit vs. Tajiri & Rhyno - Awesome match, way too short. I liked the way Benoit and Tajiri eyed their enemies warily while circling each other. It's the little things. Frankly, they could have ditched the women's segment and lengthened this match and I would have been in heaven. Beautiful 619 into a German Sup.

Torrie Wilson & Nidia vs. Shaniqua - Okay match! Plus, feeding the hoes to Shaniqua is ALWAYS a good thing (tm DDP)! Powerbomb was flawless.

Steph & Vince & Show & Skankle - Steph drawing on the poster was funny.

Eddie & Chavo - It's gold whenever Eddie rants and raves in Spanish.

John Cena - Wow, he really irritates me. Fuck the censor person for bleeping out the John Ritter remark but not the one about Hussein's children. Fuck him right in the urethra with a rusty icepick. And fuck John Cena. But I wasn't sad for too long, because his stupid ass was followed by...

WGTT vs. Los Geurreros! - My god. This one will go down in history (tm JR). Incredible tilt-a-whirl headscissors takedown by Chavo. Leapfrog into a dropkick was amazing. GODDAMN THESE MIDMATCH COMMERCIALS! Chavo was just mindblowing. Holy fucking shit! Double suplex on Haas was insane. I see they're using the old rule of using the turnbuckle ropes again. Nice touch. I heart Chavo + Eddie + Haas + Bejamin in a big, big way. Excellent. I could go on forever and still not get across how much I loved this match.

APA & Various Heels - Okay!

Brock Lesner vs. Kurt Angle - I read the match results, but not the full spoilers. Because I'm a jackass. Anyway...incredible match. Brock was puzzling me with his jerking off outside the ring for a few minutes, and then I bit hook, line and sinker. Put it this way -- I was sitting in front of the TV brushing my dog when this match was going on, and I brushed the carpet for a good 2-3 minutes before I realized she had left. Wonderful, wonderful competition. I liked Brock attacking Angle with the chair and giving away a fall. The end of the match had me screaming like a banshee -- I was absolutely positive Brock was going to tap one more time and send us into OT. Biggest possible props to both men -- Brock for competing with an injury, and Kurt being able to put his loss out of his mind and perform.

I didn't tape this show, again, because I'm a jackass, and I'm sorely regretting it. Excellent performances, superb pacing. I would have paid a good twenty bucks to watch this on any given night.

Huge ups to Vince & Co.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I thought that was a novel angle, but as I was watching it, I thought i'd never figure out how to describe it on Wienerbord to see if anybody else caught it. Right at ring level, so you were looking up at the wrestlers, a row or two back. It was a sweet angle.

Smackdown could have been called smarkdown tonight because it was a smarks fan fantasy.

-Rey/Benoit vs. Rhyno/Tajiri- Well this certainly not a bad way to start the evening of professional wrestling. Real quick paced stuff, not much time given being just over 3 minutes but understandable considering the last two matches of the evening. Good spot with Benoit running behind Tajiri into the ropes with Rey hitting the 619 into the German.

-Shaniqua vs. Nidia/Torrie-I liked this. Shaniqua most interesting female full-time addition since Victoria. Now don't know how good her wrestling is, but I like her presence. The 2 faces tried working together but Shaniqua is too overpowerful. Nice bodyslam of Torrie on Nidia. Powerbomb finish with authority by Shaniqua(now that I think of it CRZ is right! Lita using the powerbomb is kind of a rip on this newcomer)... Digging Shaniqua alot but I wonder, where are they going with this? Please don't pull a Chyna and have her start wrestling men. But who is there for her to wrestle. I'm starting to think Lita should have gone to SD and confront Shaniqua and maybe take the 3 girls and tutor them (okay I know but it's just a storyline LoL) on how to be tough and get back at the amazon.com. Naturally have one of the girls turn on Lita and there's a pretty even feud. Of course that's not happening now

-Los Guerreros vs. Worlds Greatest TagTeam- Chavo looked fantastic in his first TV match back. Ohh did I mark for the twirling revolving headscissor spin by Chavo. Then both Guerreros diving over the top rope onto Haas and Benjamin one right after the other. Go to break and come back with Eddie having the tag rope around Haas' neck (haha) Man that back-bodydrop which resulted in Haas going straight down upside-down was scary stuff! But an amazing match, and the Guerreros won it for Grandma! 13 and a half minutes of 4 great wrestlers doing their thing

-Lesner vs. Angle- First off them going an hour is enough to earn my respect, and I would never complain having these 2 athletes putting it out there on free TV for an entire hour. I got so into it, I didn't mind Lesner stalling, it's a marathon, he's trying to play with Kurt's head plus he's the bigger of the 2 men, he'd figure Kurt has better stamina then him. Tazz should have gotten the reason Lesner got DQ quicker, I know you don't want to sound too "inside" but it was pretty obvious. Didn't like Angle tapping out in record time when he gets placed in the AngleLock, I understand not wanting to risk injury but a babyface shouldn't think that and try to fight for ever fall. Lesner gets the 3rd fall via countout(wait if we are going with Hart Foundation-Bulldogs logic from SNME that was shown on Confidential last week the fall shouldn't count as a title switch LoL)...

Announcers say UPN will stick with it, but I'm watching on "The Score" and hour before it's actually happening on UPN, what will become of me LoL. REF BUMP and BELT SHOT combo (okay there forgiven this time LoL) to make it 4-2 Lesner. A pinfall happens during an ad break(dont' know if that's forgivable, but more I think of it I think it adds believeability to this match) with a superplex to make it 5-2 Lesner. BABYFACE RALLY TIME. Kurt takes it to the air! Machoman double axhandle to the outside, missle dropkick & the AngleSault which is one of the visually beautiful moves in wrestling. Lesner goes up the ropes, Kurt catches him and belly-belly him from the top to make 5-3. Locking the ankleLock, Lesner scrums but Kurt keeps it TAP OUT 5-4. Lesner on the defense, kicks Kurt low but makes the mistake of walking to him. Get's caught again but holds out and time expires. WOW That was Something!

-OtherStuff- On an otherwise perfect show, Cena had to be the skid mark on it. What a pathetic rap, putting Ritter in it. How cutting edge, what a piece of sh*t that is. Hey why don't you make a rap about Kurt's sister who died young with a heart condation, COME ON DO IT GUYS, show how hardcore you guys are. How really in your face! I say f*ck you Cena and the WWE for that pathetic and no-class remark...

Well Steph drawing devil face on Sable's poster was cute, hmmm wonder if Vince is going to put Steph in the ring with Shaniqua. I wonder if Steph will go toe-to-toe with her... Yes pretty certain that was Alexis sitting with APA but couldn't tell who the other girl is, but she did have dark hair and a recent signee named Daphane has dark hair so could have been her.

-Line of the night: Tazz "Look at the Rock, he's cute"
-Sigh of the night: For this night it's shirt of the night for the guy who broke out the Quebec Nordiques jersey!
-3stars of the night: 1)Angle. 2)Lenser. 3)Chavo.

Ignoring Cena(which I'm going to do more often). What a perfect show they done tonight. The tag title and WWE title switch was as good a match I will expect from Free TV and beyond! The women on SD all of a sudden are a lot more interesting then they ever been. Oh yeah and the opener had some guys named Benoit, Mysterio and Tajiri in it LoL... I can't see any way Raw-Unforgiven could even touch this show. Heck this SD might have been on par with SD-Vengence. Just major applauds to SD this week.

I thought the general idea of a heel was to irritate you so you want to see the face whoop him even more.

Not quite. I mean, let's say a guy came down to the ring, and then to show everyone what a strong heel he was, dropped his pants and urinated on the first two rows. After I was done laughing, I would be pretty pissed if that's the best that the WWE (the greatest promoters in the world, if you believe them) can do to get someone over.

Yeah that was kinda tacky to mention John Ritter ... who cares if he mentioned Hussein's sons ... they're probably burning in Hell right now anyway ... but John Ritter, c'mon.

So I wonder who made the decision to mute Cena ... Vince or UPN.

So now we hate Cena for riffing on a dead guy? What did say, exactly?

Oh, and Steve Austin beat his wife last year. Isolated incident, of course, but...do you not pay attention to him because of it? I mean, doing something like that in real life is a lot more tasteless than throwing out a recently-deceased sitcom star's name for some cheap heat.

And this isn't hating on Austin, before anyone starts that shit up. Just an example-I have no problem watching him on my TV right now.

it wasn't really pointed at you, Spiff, because you were right in what you said-it's a tacky line, and something probably best used later than a little more than a week after the guy's death. but spouting things like "fuck you WWE" and "I'm ignoring John Cena from now on" are just...wow. I mean seriously, when things like this happen, I don't jump back from my set and exclaim "Well hot damn, am I offended by that!". Do things really leave people fuming like that? It's a throwaway line on a wrestling show about a guy who you had no personal connection with. As Spiff said, tacky for sure-but outright offensive? Naaaaah. Particularly as it didn't exactly insult or mock the guy-it was just a particularly untactful way of speaking about an unfortunate and recent death.
