"Tommy Chong , who played one half of the dope-smoking duo in the Cheech and Chong movies, was sentenced to nine months in federal prison and fined $20,000 Thursday for selling bongs and other drug paraphernalia over the Internet."
"Chong also forfeited about $100,000 for his arrest on federal drug paraphernalia charges. He'll spend a year on probation after he's released from prison."
"His Nice Dreams Enterprises , which made a line of marijuana bongs and pipes, was to be sentenced later Thursday. Under federal law, the business itself can be placed on probation or face other sanctions."

Well damn. I guess we won't see Tommy Chong on That 70's Show again for a while. Damn, he is always funny and great on screen. Fight the power...who whatever.

Not only did this cost him his role on That 70" Show but it also cost him his shot at the Cheech & Chong reunion movie - this will at least give him time to devote to his new passion - Salsa Dancing......

Last October he did a signing at the Love Shack in Norcross and I had the pleasure to meet him and get autographs, pictures, etc. But as for the bongs--he had a special where if you bought a Chong Bong you got more free autographed stuff. The guy never really cleaned up I guess, but he was a funny, nice guy--it's just that when your hawking Chong Bongs it's kinda obvious what you are doing. I'm sure Chong will be ok in jail, just because he's pretty famous and most prisoners probably like Cheech and Chong.
"These are the same arguments, the precise same arguments that were being made before the war. It’s going to be a quagmire. What is the plan? When do we get out? How much is it going to cost? Someone in the military might get his hair mussed. We heard all these arguments." ----Ann Coulter, supporting our troops. Click here for a tribute to all Iraq's bad hair days to date.
It's absurd that time and money is being spent trying to rid the streets of a 65 year old pothead! If they had to do something, take everything away and fine him but throwing him in jail for nine months for selling some bongs, is idiotic.

'But if one is struck by me only a little, that is far different, the stroke is a sharp thing and suddenly lays him lifeless, and that man's wife goes with cheeks torn in lamentation, and his children are fatherless, while he, staining the soil with his red blood, rots away, and there are more birds than women swarming about him.' Diomedes, The Iliad of Homer
I read the article, but I thought they always sold these under the premise that they would be used to smoke tobacco. He pled out to a lesser charge, but I wonder how did they make a case against him?

I don't know about the Cheech & Chong movie, but he hasn't been on That 70's Show in a while, and I heard an interview with him months ago wherein he said he wasn't planning to anytime soon either to be due to contract disputes. I know he wasn't on this past season, and he I'm pretty sure he didn't show up the season before, either.
NickBockwinkelFan, at the store I met Chong at and all other tobacco stores/porn stores I've been to that sell bongs and pieces they have noticeable signs up saying "For tobacco use ONLY!" and if you even mention pot they kick you out, so it is weird Chong got busted. Perhaps it was his naming it a ChongBong and not a pipe?

I was just wondering if anyone else saw Bloody Sunday last night on ITV., as it was one of the best British made films I've seen in yonks beig both power and emotive.
