Ernest Miller has been removed from his color commentary position on Velocity. He was replaced by Tazz in the first week, but there are currently no permanent plans in place.

Miller was not released by WWE though, and is expected to return to WWE TV as a wrestler or bump taking manager. No word on when he would be back on TV in a physical role.

It's about time SOMEBODY realized how God-awful the Cat was on Velocity. And now they can put him where he belongs! Nobody's better on the mic than Ernest Miller and this guy can go a long way in getting some poor, untalented (mic-wise, anyway) schmuck from OVW over. If they INSIST on putting Orlando Jordan on Smackdown, there are worse ideas than letting THE CAT~! do his talking for him. Why not make Jordan a student of CAT-BO? (There's your obscure Thunder reference of the month)

LS: You're sure going into the women's locker room will get us on TV?
GD: Absolutely! And if it doesn't, I've got Max Mini ready to come out of retirement. HE'LL get us on Raw! Nothing spells ratings like MIDGETS!

I have no problem with Cat-Bo, just as long as he wears the ruby slippers...

No! No! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Seriously - Ernest Miller was USELESS as an announcer. He's not funny, doesn't seem to care about the subject matter and can't even get his charisma across which is probably the only REASON they hired for that job.

This isn't (really) a knock against Ernest Miller. He was an okay wrestler, commissioner type and all-around performer. I have no problem with him moving to managing or whatever, but PUH-LEASE keep him away from the announce table. When Josh Matthews is the stronger link of the team, that's generally a sign that things aren't working out.

So, he was GOD AWEFULL on Velocity but is great on the Mic?

Anyhow, let him get other wrestlers over. He is good at that, and he can be funny and entertaining as hell when he wants to be. Let him be Orlando Jones' manager, or, have him try to go to Raw and set up an angle where he tries to take the Mack and Henry away from Peanut head.

Cat's better as an announcer than a wrestler.

On the other hand, he's probably more likely to be let go as a wrestler than an announcer.

Points for thinking outside of the box, guys...

Why not have the Cat manage Tajiri or Ultimo Dragon, two guys that can benefit from a trash-talking martial arts enthusiast doing their talking for them?

Dave said on his show a couple of weeks ago that he had heard that Vince was off house shows for a week and got to finally sit back and watch Velocity and heard just how bad Cat was and ordered him off the show immediately. Hopefully that does NOT mean he is going to be in the ring instead.

Maybe he could be a part of Teddy Long's Player's Club on RAW.

As long as they don't try and sell me Ernest Miller as a wrestler, everything will be fine. Seriously...if Sean O'Haire and Ultimo Dragon are stuck on Velocity, I don't need such a poor wrestler as Miller on Smackdown.

As a manager, though, Miller could be effective. He was entertaining as WCW commish as long as he wasn't trying to wrestle. They key, though, is to find something he would care about. He clearly enjoyed being a principal player during the final days of WCW; it was just as obvious he didn't care for being an announcer on a B-show. Putting him with Ultimo doesn't fit, and I don't think he adds anything to Tajiri. Orlando Jordan is almost too obvious. What about using him as a mouthpiece for the Basham Brothers?

Holy crap, Vince watches Velocity.

Here's a nomination for somebody to work commentary with Josh- Chris Nowinski. Everybody already knows the chemistry they have. I imagine they'd come off as a more likable Heyman and JR.

I know the brands thing wouldn't make sense, but they did this with Lita too and nobody really cared. Plus it looks like Mark Henry has eaten the spots left in backing the Mack by Chris and Jazz anyway.

Oh yeah, Cat minus Sonny Onoo equals worthless. Maybe Ultimo needs him too.

Am I the only one who actually LIKED the Cat's commentary?

Not that it was particularly good, but him and Josh worked well off of each other (to my ears, anyway) ...

I think Cat COULD have been a good commentator, but let's be honest, he sucked. He couldn't make up his mind if he was a face or a heel as he would often applaud and condemn the same person for the same reason on the same show. Most of the time he sounded like he was half asleep and couldn't care less about what was going on in front of him. I don't know how many times I heard Josh (who I think is very underrated as an announcer) have to correct him or say something that was clearly over Cat's head. He should have been fired from Velocity a long time ago; whether making him a Smackdown character is a good idea remains to be seen.

As I've mentioned many a time, listening to the Cat's commentary was a guilty pleasure of mine. I just thought it was hilarious.

Shit, the Cat was awesome in the last days of WCW. He's a good Velocity level player I think, especially if you bring in Ms. Jones?! She'd be a great Diva.

And if you don't believe me when I say Cat was good (pretty DAMN over), just watch those last months of WCW. Whoever was booking knew how to use him. He was in a main event six man on Nitro with DDP (I think) versus Ric Flair's cronies when Booker T came back. So, I dunno, main eventing? Why not.

You mean Mortis? I don't think he'll last very long. WWE didn't come up with the gimmick, so Vince won't get behind. He'll be jobbing to A-Train on Velocity in a few weeks, no doubt.

Ms. Jones? You've gotta be kidding me? She could be the least attractive woman a wrestling company has ever tried to promote as hot.

I'm not so sure about that. I mean, someone had to approve Kanyon to work under the Mortis gimmick on recent house shows and dark matches. I doubt Kanyon just showed up at a house show one day with the costume in hand and decided "You know what? Tonight...I'm MORTIS." Someone (other than Kanyon) must have thought it was a good enough character to give it a trial run. If they thought enough of it to give this trial run and it got a good enough crowd reaction, Vince might get behind it as a lower mid-card or mid-card character.

I know there's already a Rumble "Live Report" thread going, but damnit, I need my own thread, too. First off, they actually let us in at a decent time, maybe 6:30 or so. Not sure exactly. Anyway, I get in and head straight to the bathroom....
