I think it's sad that the only way I could actually get an opinion out of you was by taunting you mercilessly. For the audience playing along at home, here's the last time I pissed him off (wienerboard.com) - and for the record, he left for 19 days after that one, and I DID notice, and I never forgot it.

I mean, c'mon - I love you as much as a grown man can love an unknown cyberspatial entity, but there are A LOT of times when I'm not convinced you're just some AI automatically posting here. "Here's something I saw on television. It was (hilarious as always|pretty good). Highlights included (this thing), and when (the time that that happened)."

I think my favourite is "(Show) will air on television tonight." Not "I'm looking forward to (show)" or "don't miss (show)!!!!" or anything resembling an actual OPINION, but just this matter-of-fact straight-up announcement listing that could have come from a TV Guide for all the emotion invested in its delivery. Hell, aside from that last one, when did I see even an exclamation point in one of your half a dozen messages a day? I even asked you point blank one time, "are you getting PAID to plug this?" Nothing.

And even THAT I can forgive - information wants to be free and all that, and people SEEM to be interested - but there were SOOOOOOO MANNNNY of them. Honestly, I really feel like I've showed a lot of restraint for MONTHS because I KNEW you couldn't take a joke. Oh well, I guess I'm glad it all came out in the end...even if you end up walking out.

Anyway, so long - I'll miss ya but not that much. Please say hi to "A Fan" if you end up at 411board - highlights will include when he says "Fuck CRZ" a lot, and sucks up to Seth Monroe. Perhaps later we can release "tomvejada: Behind The Wienerboard™" on DVD. All in all, good times on the Internet. Coming up later, my fiancee will declare war on the Ladies' Forum. That will be interesting to watch.

(To answer pieman's question, I believe only Papercuts! was on a simliar posting tear back when I ended up pissing HIM off. All the other megaposters have pretty much ended up banned and gone. You know why? I AM CRZ)

jeez, CRZ, you could have gone the extra mile and at *least* kept the thread topical...

Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stain of time
The feeling disappears
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end

Or is that lacking subtlety?

Grr...to those who didn't see the awards, Johnny Cash didn't win a single award! Timberlake won the male video (to his credit, he dedicated the award to Cash) and Missy Elliot won the video of the year...not that I'm really suprised that he didn't win...

Part of me really thinks had Cash been able to make it that they would have given him one of the awards. Once they found out he couldn't make it though, they likely didn't want that uncomfortable moment of them saying "johnny is off dying somewhere. Here's Kid Rock to accept on his behalf"

I don't know if I'd put MTV above changing awards just because of who would be on hand to pick them up, but I don't see them doing it. Even though a VMA's ultimately meaningless, it isn't trite enough to change the winner just for that.

Besides, they had a pretty uncomfortable moment already when Duran Duran's package didn't air.

Chris Rock was gold.

"Good Charlotte, sounds like Mediocre Green Day"

Duran Duran gets a life time achievement award from a Blitzed Kelly Osbourne and a really bored Avril.

Jack Black---WTF???

Mary J Blige was amazing, loved the outdoor feel to it.

Production was fantastic as always. A pretty good show all around.

Beyonce and Coldplay were outstanding, and Chris Rock was GOLD. "Paula Abdul judging people's singing is like Christopher Reeve judging a dance contest."

The puppets doing the people's choice award promos were also pretty funny...I presume they're from some MTV show.

Lowlights were the utter lack of awards going to Johnny Cash, the White Stripes and generally anyone with talent. Good Charlotte won the fucking viewer's choice award? What the fucking fuck?

I have not seen the awards yet (MTV are showing them tonight, I think) but a certain 'highlight' actually made it onto the BBC News this morning. The best bit about it - the cut from Britney and the old woman to Justin Timberlake looking like Scott Keith watching Kronik vs Undertaker and Kane.

It still would have just been a publicity stunt, but I like to think that if Johnny Cash had been there, he would have frenched all three of them...

I'm officially OLD: during the opening number, the outfits got skimpier and I said out loud, ``Madonna's so much hotter than the other two put together.'' I stand by that statement despite the derision and laughter I have endured since.

Chris Rock was gold. One of these days someone's going to shoot him, probably while he's onstage, but he's gold nonetheless.

Iggy Pop was gold too. I hardly heard a word he said, but fuckit, he's Iggy.

Duran Duran deserved better. "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Girls on Film," "The Reflex," were among the videos that made MTV. How they could even send Kelly Osbourne and Avril Lavigne out there for the presentation I'll never know. Tsk.

Justin Timberlake is a rare one--he seems to understand that though he's not untalented he's received a lot of breaks; he seems to understand that he's a pop star, not a musical genius; and he seems to realize that he's not worthy. People will eventually get tired of his aw shucks routine, though, and I don't know where he could possibly go from there. He could be the next Michael Jackson or the next Cat Stevens or the next Brian Wilson.

I just wish he'd start making better music sooner rather than later.

Really? I thought it was great.

I find more and more live shows from the UK are producing them in the same way. Top of the Pops, The Brit awards (???). Maybe it's just a fad, but I can dig it.

I would have liked to have seen in High Definition....but we all have dreams!

My wife and I found the Filmlook really annoying. It was kind of jolting to go from the pre-show to this Filmlook. My wife even asked "Is this the start of the show?" It made my eyes and head hurt - there seems to be just a little hitch or something in the way the picture comes across. I dunno. We are, however, quite old and had to shut off the awards and watch the Cubs/Cards game. By the way, our kids are NEVER watching MTV. Nope.

Okay, time for me to bitch. WHY NO FUCKING DURAN DURAN RETROSPECTIVE? YOu have them stand on the stage with Avril "wont be around next year" Levine and that fat loud Osbourn bitch, and "suprise them" with an award? Hows about bringing Mark Goodman or JJ Jackson back, and have them narrate over some video clips about how they were years ahead of everybody else as far as making a concept video goes. Jeezus fucking Christ MTV, you have one of the few bands still around that MADE YOUR DUMB ASSES and you cant even give them some respect? A token moon man does NOT count.
