Okay, I'm battling the gruesome twosome of a terrible cold and time of the month cramps, so I'm gonna breathe some fire. Get out of the way!

I did read the Raw recaps so I'm going with what I read. Sounds like something promising that went to hell real quick. This thread however focuses on the McMahons. Like I said many times, I respect the hell out of all of them for what they have done. I appreciate what they each bring to the table. But, with that said, the frustrations of how they are presented on camera is making me go nuts.

From reading the recaps, I discover that it was Vince's idea to let Eric force himself on Linda, which prompted Linda to do NOTHING in self defense when she was given a chance. Then Linda gives the cop out excuse of the security guys coming AFTER the cameras went off. Yeah right. Then Shane calls his dad names and that's about it.

Now, I wasn't always annoyed with the McDrama. Back in 2000, when Steph married HHH, it was bearable to me. It was more compelling and believable. Steph hated her father because he was an asshole, so she married his enemy. Fair enough, easy to understand. Even the segments between McMahons was entertaining even in retrospect. The Wrestlemania 2000 main event featured a McMahon in every corner. While most of you thought it was annoying, I didn't mind it too much.

But since then, we've seen every combination of hate between the McMahons possible. It's not only old news, it's not even believable. One year Dad's a great guy, the next he's Satan's right hand man. While I will always respect what he and his family have done for wrestling, it's only fair in my estrogen lacking state to say that it's getting really stupid. Agree or disagree?

Not much different than Vince whoring out Steph to the boys.

Oh it's stupid squared. And they are running out of McMahon angles. Unless they introduce a half-brother for Shane and Steph to feud with. Wouldn't put it past them.

I think the constant friend/foe turns between the McMahons is believable if you just assume that they're all just out for themselves at heart and will put business first when it suits them to do so. Don't forget, that was how they explained away the Vince/Linda "I want a divorce" angle a few years back...WCW arrived on the scene and they settled their differences to save their company.

An optimist would probably look at last night's show and say that it gave closure to the Bischoff/Linda thing last night, and you know that Kane is going to kill Shane at Unforgiven and drive him back off TV. Vince doesn't fit anywhere on Raw, and I'm betting last night was a one-shot thing. Besides, I'm guessing we start on the path to an Undertaker/Vince match on Smackdown this week.

Yes, last night featured a lot of wasted time. I can't help but feel, though, that if there hadn't been some kind of closure to the Bischoff/Linda angle people would complain that it's bad writing not to finish your storylines. As long as that was the purpose for last night's McMahonfest, I'm fine with it.

As far as Shane goes, I think he's a good fit on TV for this month. He's a big name because of who he is and he'll make Kane look like a million bucks at Unforgiven, and he does all this to help Kane without WWE having to sacrifice another full time upper card babyface to him so soon after he tore through RVD. Shane's serving a valuable purpose right now, so I have no problem with his current role.

The main problem with the McMahon family is everything has been played to death. A McMahon has been the #1 heel or alligned with the #1 heel in some form or another for the majority of the time since Mania XIV. After 5 and a half years (6 if you go back to Austin stunning Vince in MSG in September of '97), the main storylines in the company has in some way revolved around them. After a while, it becomes repetitive, non-sensical, and just plain dull. Much like the NWO was played to death after a few years, the McMahon family needs to be put out to pasture (permanently).

Ok, so Ted Williams is decapitated now? What will his son do next, sell him to the Japanese dog food company that bought former Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand?

I agree that the McMahons are overexposed. Even though I like her, I wouldn't mind Stephie taking an extended vacation. I just can't get behind her as a face OR a heel. In her heel phases, she usually spends 90% of the time whining. In her face phases...wait, she also spends 90% of the time whining. I thought she showed promise when she hurled the coffee in Lillian's face for inquiring about the state of her and Hunter's marriage; but alas -- she returned to whining. And for the love of God (TM J.R.), never waste a match on her vs. Anyone. Ever. Although, I could say the same about Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson.

Vince -- I love him as a heel. Shit, who doesn't? The man does evil-greedy-capitalist-cheating-lying-pig better than anyone. But he doesn't need to be on every show. I would comment on him as a face, but I can't effing remember the last time he was a face. Also needs to stay out of matches. Even though he's gotten so jakked it's downright scary.

I like Shane. He's funny and sharp, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say for a lot of the wrestlers. I think Shane tends to shine best when the rest of The Fam isn't around, though.

Oh, man. I'm going to get pounded for this. I feel the punches coming already. Just not in the face, guys.

I really like Linda and wouldn't mind seeing a lot more of her.

All right! I'm sorry! I know she's a life-sized doll with only two facial expressions! I can't help it. I just love her for some reason.

Maybe it's because I've got a thing for older women. Come on. I can't be the only one that finds Linda...

...hot.

Someone else has to.

Anyone?

Uh, so yeah. Too much McMahon in the air these days.

I didn't mind Steph as GM of Smackdown because she was a background, unbiased authority figure who just happened to be a McMahon. She stayed out of storylines and was just there to make announcements and whatnot, not too much unlike Linda who I also didn't mind in that limited capacity. But as storyline players, their value has been stretched very thin, which is why I'm hoping that last night's McMahon-fest was just for closure rather than the start of an extended program.

I like Shane I think he can bring something to the table then the others. I think Vince need to step down and hand over the business to Shane. With that said.
It's wrong in how much time the McMahons get on tv. They should stay behind the scenes, not take up time that could be use to build up the wrestlers. I hate the story line with Linda and Vince, I've hated it sence the beginning. We don't care for them anymore hear that McMahons WE DON'T CARE!

I wonder how the McMahon's act in real life. After all the Cr@p they do on the shows I bet they get made fun of a lot when they go out in public. I mean can you imagine walking in the mall and people calling you "Slut" and "Roids" and "Get a real job". I'm sure it has happened to the McMahons many times. They must handle it well, I guess.

I would like to see the McMahon's do a reality show on their real life lives.

Fortunately I have read interviews with all of them. They really come off as really cool people off camera (especially Stephanie, believe it or not). Unsure about Vince sometimes, I didn't see the Real Sports segment due to Real Life (mwahahaha...), but he's okay sometimes too.

See, Bisch ain't the only one that thinks she's hot!
Linda is actually a really good character, because if you think about it, her "lifeless" character is probably due to keeping some sense of dignity after all that her hubby and kids have put her through.
If you had a daughter who did the things Steph did (including being daddy's trade-off girl>blech<), a son like Shane who gets his ass destroyed when he definitely shouldn't, and Satan's 1st cousin as a husband, I don't think *I* would be walking around full of cheer and emotion.
Now, I don't think Linda's hot persay, but Wieners, if she hit on you... wouldja,... y'know....

Don't be saying that. Someone might read it and then we'd be seeing Buh Buh Ray McMahon, illegitimate child of Vince and - I don't know - Leilani Kai, Wendy Richter?

I remember back when Shane was aligned/feuding with The Big Show, I was sure that they were going to reveal that Paul Wight was VKM's illegitimate son. They could still do it...

See, now we're on the right track. We need a spontanious new "cousin" McMahon to interact with them. You know, like they do on sit-coms when they run out of ideas. Then they can just write him out by giving him an apartment in the big city with two lovely ladies.

I thought we were done the that family shit. I guess not. It is dumb. McMahon does not equal ratings. It equals me turning my TV over to football this fall if it continues.

One of UPW's former writers actually was attempting to make the storyline that John Cena (Then known as The Prototype) was a lost McMahon. He got laughed at a lot.

Actually, I doubt it happens very much, if at all. People tend to keep their mouths shut a lot more when they aren't in a 1,000+ person crowd. I'm not saying that the stray comment hasn't been screamed at one of them before, but I don't see it happening that much.

Now, I don't think Linda's hot persay, but Wieners, if she hit on you... wouldja,... y'know....

In the words of one broken-down, beer-swilling wrestler -- 'Gimme a hell yeah!' The one thing that always puzzles me about Linda, though, is her damn wardrobe. With all that money, I would think she would wear outfits that are a bit more flattering -- even her powersuits tend to be on the frumpy side. What's up with that? Methinks she needs to have a fashion session with Sharon Osbourne.

That's my opinion, exactly. I don't know if Linda is so mechanical, really, or if everyone else is just so overwrought. Don't get me wrong -- girlfriend really does appear to be somewhat botoxed at times, but I like her quiet/dignified thing that she's got going on.

The Fabulous Moolah was gorgeous in her day, but I don't know if that's who you're thinking about.

You are so right. I've never decided whether the frump look is just for her on-air persona, or whether we need to spring into action & mount a write-in campaign to get her on What Not to Wear. (The $5000 wouldn't be an incentive, but the publicity for the company sure would be!)
