It seems as if a lot of people have given Triple H a good shot at retaining the belt. I don't there is much of a chance. #1 - One of the World Titles should change hands @ the second biggest PPV of the year & another flip flop of Lesnar & Angle seems unlikely so soon. #2 - Triple H has a pretty serious injury. #3 - Rumor has it Triple H may need time off to make a movie. #4 - Even VKM realizes Triple H has had the belt too long.
These are the reasons I thought of off the top of my head. I couldn't think of many at all why Triple H would retain. I can't wait to see the title change hands. Goldberg or Jericho?? I think and hope Jericho!

As for #1, that's just your opinion. We've heard this reasoning for the past year and neither title has jumped around a lot -- which is good, because a champion keeping a belt for too long does less damage to that title than hotshotting it.
And as for #4, I'd love to know how you "know" this information. Are you one of VKM's close confidants? If not, then I'd suggest you term your statement as a rumor. This past week, rumors on the "major" wrestling news sites said that Vince held a meeting backstage, telling the heels to watch what he and HHH do in front of crowds, because in his opinion, they are the only heels doing their jobs correctly. If this rumor is true, then I'd suggest that VKM is likely not considering taking the belt off the only guy he thinks can draw legit heel heat.
Whether anyone agrees with how he sees things or not.

Out of 15 Summerslams so far, there have only been 4 world title changes, one of which was the WCW title.
#2 - Triple H has a pretty serious injury.
It's not that serious. Sure, he should probably take some time to heal it, but they could easily do that without actually having him reliquish the title. (This coming from someone who's suffered through a groin tear before and had to work through it, though obviously my work didn't involve falling down repeatedly.)
#3 - Rumor has it Triple H may need time off to make a movie.
No, rumor has it that HHH is looking for movie parts. He wouldn't need time off to make a movie until after he's cast in one and even then, they're not going to start filming the instant he signs on. It'd be unlikely that any project he'd sign on to would start until the beginning of next year at this point.
#4 - Even VKM realizes Triple H has had the belt too long.
I must have missed a press conference, when did Vince McMahon state that HHH had been champion for too long?
It seemed to me that they were serious about taking the belt off of HHH around Wrestlemania, actually, and the only reason they didn't is because they signed Goldberg just before the PPV. I think that, at the time at least, they felt like Goldberg was the best way to pay off HHH's lengthy title reign. Now, I think they know they need to freshen up the world title scene, so I also expect a title change. Of course, this is all just speculation from my end.
"This past week, rumors on the "major" wrestling news sites said that Vince held a meeting backstage, telling the heels to watch what he and HHH do in front of crowds"
Actually, that's crap. The quote was something along the lines of "Vince held a meeting this week with many of Raw's heels, saying they should watch how he performs because he feels he's one of the best heels in the business. Obviously, we're assuming HHH wasn't present at this talk." Kind of makes your rant about "facts" and "rumours" seem pretty silly, don't it?
I'm starting to think they may run with Orton on this. I know it could have potential disaster written all over it, but I have a strange feeling they may do it for the surprise factor.
Plus if he did keep it after Summerslam there would'nt be anyone that HHH could face. He would have no competition. Besides it would be silly if Goldberg did'nt win because he is getting a monster push.

You can put that in the pile with the rest of the should's they've ignored.

So? They could break tradition just not put him in matches for a while. Oh, wait.
Originally posted by knightvibe#3 - Rumor has it Triple H may need time off to make a movie.
Maybe might possibly need time off.

Riiiiiiiight.
I don’t go to sleep at night, I job to my blankets.
When my mom dies I'd like to know it was peacefully in her sleep, and not fucked to death by 38 men with AIDS.
Oh well...I guess VKM got his birthday present. I cannot believe that HHH kept the belt.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
Well so much for HHH not winning the belt. It would have been awesome if right after HHH pinned Goldberg, they blared some comedy trombones in the backgroun, you know...wah wah waahhhhh
Somehow, I can't see Mr. Bum Neck agreeing to work w/ Goldberg. But, then again, Mr. BM really hasn't been too smart when it comes to his own well-being.
