On August 26th, Smackdown will be in El Paso for the first televised event in 14 years. In an earlier thread we talked about how Eddie should get a run with the title. Well I'm not sure he should WIN the title yet, but why not make a Kurt Angle (WWE Title) vs. Eddie Guerrero (US Title) the main event for this show. They would give us one of the best matches of the year. And as over as Eddie is i'm sure his hometown is going to be crazy.

Now if Brock is the champ by August 26th, this would be an AMAZING idea. Brock will be booed like mad if he's up against the hometown hero, and Eddie might be a full-fledged face by that time anyway.

I don't want to see a title vs title match. That would kind of de-value the US title already when Angle beats him. I would like to see Eddie defend his title in a good, long match. Not sure who against though. Maybe Cena? knowing Vince, it would be against A-Train, and A-train would get the win.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
I really hate to burst everybody's bubble, but I don't see Eddie ever getting a main event run-and with good WWE reasoning. He's midcard through and through, and sadly it seems to be due to his ethnicity and the inability to step outside of it. Add that to his size or lack thereof, and his chances look grim. While he may well get a brief spot at the top for a coupla pay-per-views, I sincerely doubt he'll ever get his hands on the big belt. Hope I'm wrong.

Even 4 to 5 months ago, I'd agree that ethnicity would be a major detriment to Eddie being World Champion. However, since it appears the Hispanic Demographic is one of the few things that is moving in a positive direction, then ethnicity actually could be helpful for Eddie getting at least a token World Title run in the fall of this year. However, I think its highly doubtful that they would do it on a SD in El Paso. If they were going to give it away on free TV, it would more likely be the September 11th edition, where they are leading into a new series for UPN and have no real competition on other networks. As for the El Paso show, it would be a nice opportunity to bring back Chavo if he's healthy.
Ok, so Ted Williams is decapitated now? What will his son do next, sell him to the Japanese dog food company that bought former Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand?
