Yeah, but in two weeks, the Simpsons Season III DVD, the Mr. Show Volume II DVD and the first LOTR: The Two Towers DVDs are all coming out. That is a Geek Trifecta!
"George W. Bush is in the middle of his annual 35-day vacation. How many of you get a thirty-five day vacation every year? Yeah, see, that's because they need you at your job... Don't worry, George. Another seventeen months, and you're going to have the longest vacation of your life." ---David Letterman, The Late Show
If you were a TRUE geek, you'd get BOTH versions of Two Towers. You get the one coming out now to tide you over until the "real" one comes out in November.
--Monte N Will wait and get the extended version for X-Mas, like he did last year with Fellowship
If you're a TRUE geek you've had a bootleg version of TTT on your computer since it opened at the theatres, will be getting the regular version in August, and if they do a funky box version with cool statues along with the SE version in November you'll buy THAT.
I've got a copy of the Oscar preview version of TTT.

Here's a question: was the Futurama release only for online buys or what? I went to Sam's club, called Wal-Mart, went to Target and called Barnes and Noble. In each case, they hadn't received a shipment of the DVDs. It wasn't a matter of them having sold all the copies; they simply hadn't gotten any.
I also asked each place when they got new shipments, and all of them said Tuesday which is, I suppose, the universal DVD shipment day.
Anyway, what gives? I read this thread and got all pumped for Futurama. Then nothing! Arrrrrrggghh!

I read the book. That's geeky enough for me.

Tuesday is release day, and most stores get them the friday before, but shy away from boxed sets.
Try Best Buy to get it (they have a HUGE boxed set section), or on-line at amazon.com
Almost finished my 2002-2003 College Football raitings. Watch this space!!!

I'm an entertainment specialist at Target, and I can tell you that my Target got about 8 or 9 copies of Futurama Season 2, and they were all sold by the end of Tuesday. Tuesday is the universal DVD/CD *street date* day, the day when those titles are available for sale. The titles are shipped to the stores well before that date - for example, we already have our shipment for Chicago, which comes out Tuesday. There are some exceptions to this rule - for example, I remember that Independence Day was released on a Friday. (Of course, it premiered in theaters on a Tuesday. Go figure.)
Mmmm... Ashley Judd. The perfect woman. 1) Absolutely gorgeous. 2) Loves UK basketball. 3) Was on Star Trek. What more can you ask for?
I finally found a copy at Best Buy. Thanks for the tips, guys.
Teapot: when I went to Target, I deliberately checked all the little labels on the price signs to see if it had been there and I missed it: I didn't see a Futurama label at all. Of course, some of the price labels didn't have the name on it, so I could be off-base. But, for the record, the Sam's club and Wal-Mart people simply didn't even bother with it. I asked.
Anyway, am I the only one who immediately watches all the episodes with the commentary tracks on? I don't even bother with episodes on their own, since I've seen them (or taped them and seen them repeatedly) already.
My favorite part of the commentary has gotta be the episode where Billy West and John Dimaggio go completely nuts with the beat-box stuff for the entire intro. That was just amazing; surreal and amazing. I'd almost prefer it if they had two audio tracks one with the directors and writers, and one with just the voice actors.
I mean, I like the background info, but sometimes it's a little dry. I love John Dimaggio going nuts over the intonation in a Zoidberg line, doing imitations, ad-libbing, etc. Him and him alone is what makes the Futurama commentaries MUCH more fun than the Simpsons commentaries (which tend to get bogged down in mutual admiration and incredibly long tangential stories or the same stories, repeated, in several different episodes).
I'm sorry that I'm turning this into a Futurama thread, but something astounds me. With all the clever dialogue and jokes, I am amazed at how much I HATE Zoidberg. I don't ever find him amusing. I don't know if they just don't give his character anything interesting to say, or if his quirks are what ticks me off.
I know that I am in the minority though as most of my friends and my bro-in-law just love Zoids as their favorite character. Is anyone else as annoyed by Zoidberg as I am?
Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.
TS, the greatest Wiener rated 6.1554 ever to live!! Oops, I mean 5.5...4.5?? Oh, dammit! I guess Notorious FAB was right.

I doubt it's just me, but with both The Simpsons and Futurama, I'll watch the individual episode first and then watch it again immediately following with the commentary. And I'll agree with the thought of the DiMaggio/West beat box made the whole thing worth the purchase price alone.
I'd kill for Maurice LaMarche appearance on commentary. He's scary good.
I have yet to watch any episodes without commentary, but have watched some episodes multiple times now with commentary.
Maurice LaMarche is the man. I SO wanted to see him do Orson Welles in SD at the Con, but had to settle for them doing a live Pinky and hte Brain script.
That said, Billy West and John DiMaggio did beat-box live at the Futurama panel AND Billy sang "Walkin On Sunshine."
Braving the horror show that is Comicon. We're not set up, but we'll be around all weekend.
Thanks one and all. I actually don't want to see s-m until the middle of the week. I dislike seeing films with lots of people. We went to Morimoto's restaurant in Philadelphia last night. So very cool. I'll probably do a write-up in a day or so.
