Now that all the major EA Sports games are coming out does anybody know what sort of "extras" can be unlocked through the memory card? Do you have to buy every game in the EA library to get the full effect?

See, that's what I thought to - that you'd have to buy (or at least get a hold of) everything to get the really really big stuff (that no one ever uses because it's 'cheating' but I'm digressing to much, let me start this again)

I thought that you'd have to buy all the EA games to unlock everything, but the way it reads on the EA site, it sounds like it's just a method of transfering the points between games, so you can spend them wherever you'd like, and to collate all the individual profiles into one date file.

I suspect that the amount to get anything will be a little higher than usual, since total point amounts per bio will go way up when you start combining games (or at least that's how I'd do it). And like last "season", I'd bet there's some stuff that is unlocked only when you've also played a different game, but it doesn't seem focused on that.

Maybe someone with NCAA can clearify this a bit? I've played it but not with people who actually care about bios and such things.

In the instruction manual for NCAA 2004 for the XBox, it says something along the lines of the "EA Sports Bio" being saved directly to your hard drive, insinuating that it's different from the actual game save file, making it difficult to swap memory cards with someone to artificially inflate your bio. Maybe someone with a PS2 or Gamecube can verify that.

According to my bio, I've played a little less than a day, and I'm a Level 4 gamer, whatever that means. I haven't paid much attention to it yet, because the only thing it's gotten me so far is a Rose Bowl pennant, but if one of the bonuses is unlocking all of the EA Sports clips at the beginning of the game, I'll buy every single game if need be.

Hey, here's a good EA Sports question!

How can I get the reverse angle on NHL 99 for the PC? I mean, I love the game to death, but it's hard to play when I'm facing down as opposed to up, the way I like to play.

Ah well...

(sarcasm="on") Well, gee...why didn't I think of that? (sarcasm="off")

There isn't such an option, dude. I'm thinking its something hidden or whatever else that others here would know of, since I just bought the game,

Just saying. It'd be weird for an EA Sports game not to have a camera option, is all.

There are numerous camera options...just not one that reverses the angle to which you're looking.

Nevertheless. Getting back to the topic question, would anyone really want to buy the ENTIRE EA Sports collection? I know they're good games, but who here is really a devoted fan of hockey, baseball, boxing, NASCAR, college hoops, football, basketball and golf all at the same time?

I think the point EA is trying to make is that we should all become friends with losers that play boxing, baseball, and Tiger Woods games. And then steal their memory cards.

Anyway, I know it's not close to being the entire lineup, but I played and really enjoyed last years EA hockey, Nascar (surprisingly), football, and basketball games.

Also, am I just really out of the loop, or does it seem like their NCAA basketball games never get any hype at all? After the college football commercials started running this year, I kept thinking that I couldn't remember even seeing one for hoops in recent years.

The way I understand the User bio is when you reach a certain level, say level 4 on NCAA football, and you unlock the Rose Bowl pennant, you will also be able to unlock whatever you get on level 4 of Madden or any of the new EA Sports games. It sounds like its linear, so you'll have the same level on all the games, as long as you load the bio when you start the game. I have a PS2 and that's how I understand it. I'm guessing its the same for X-Box and Game Cube.

From Jeremy Strauser (Madden 2004 Lead Producer) on the sports bio:
It's something that our group here in Tiburon led the charge on, and we're also the first two games out with NCAA and Madden. We just knew that there were a lot of people out there that owned more than one EA Sports game and many people own three or four, so we wanted to find a way to reward those type of consumers as well as those people who try an EA Sports game for the first time. Now we're able to track how long you've been playing, and this can be pretty scary when you actually look at the data and watch time add up. We're also able to unlock certain stuff. So if you have NCAA and pop in Madden, you're going to be rewarded with stuff right off the bat. Then after playing Madden, you can go back to NCAA and you'll open new stuff in that game. Same works for when you buy NBA Live or NHL, it's a nice way to track your accomplishments, your time, and earn some nice rewards because of it.

edit: added Strauser quote.

Ill probably fork out the money just to see what is unlocked in each game. The main question I have regards the trophy case in NCCA 2004 I notice that there are two spaces in it that are empty. Is this like this to take up space or do you actually unlock the two, what could they be? Or do you buy the other titles and then they are unlocked as you level up?

*raises hand*

I've got, currently, NCAA Football 2004, MVP Baseball 2003, March Madness 2003, NBA Live 2003, Tiger Woods 2003, NHL 2003, NASCAR Thunder 2003, and FIFA 2003. I've got Madden 2004 on reserve and traded in 2003 when I got NCAAFB2004. I pretty much have only played NCAAFB since I got it, especially since I'm inputting the rosters (I've got about 70-75 done) but when I get them done I just play them one after the other.

It's been a while so I'm a little fuzzy on where all my seasons are at, but I know I'm in the first round of the playoffs in NHL 2003, early in my MVP 2003 season, almost done with the regular season in MM2003, early in the regular season in NBA Live 2003, and at the end the regular season in NASCAR 2003. I have about 50% of Tiger Woods 2003 done and I just started a new season in FIFA 2003 with the Austrian League.

I'm mostly looking forward to finishing the rosters so I can wrap up the NHL 2003 season and the NASCAR season, as I'm really close to winning the Stanley Cup and the Winston Cup. I always buy all of the games but I hardly ever make it through the seasons, except in the football games, so I'm happy to finish some seasons in my dynasties/franchises.

EDIT: I also have EA Sports Rugby, which I got at Costco for $20. I'll probably get Rugby 2004 when it comes out.

I had F1 2002 (same deal at Costco) and liked it, but traded it in with Madden 2003. However, I rented F1 Career Challenge and thought it was very cool, so I'll probably be buying that at some point.
