Sonuvabitch. Looks like both DT Gilbert Brown and DB Bryant Westbrook are gone for the season (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel) already.

Brown tore his right bicep (sez the AP), and Westbrook tore his right Achilles tendon in the first quarter. GB might look to Dan Wilkinson to fill that gap where The Gravedigger was.

I guess Gilbert's "Can't get fat" line while lying on a floating recliner in the pool was some damn good foreshadowing on Nike's part.

Eh....Bryan Westbrook wouldn't have helped you out, anyway. He sucked for the Cowboys last year, and he already had injury problems before. Gilbert Brown is a big loss, though. Look on the bright side, you still have a reliable QB (Damn you, Hutch and Quincy).

Ewww, like I said. I see a real bad Packer season on the horizon. Their defense seems messed up this year especially their front 7... Their O-line ain't looking so great either

The Pack play in the NFC North, so that's 6 easy wins there. It pays off to play in the worst division.

Don't be so sure about that. Minnesota always bedevils the Pack. The Bears always play harder against Green Bay than they do the rest of the year. And Detroit...well okay, there's 2 wins.

Make that 5. Da Bears can't win at Lambeau (and I oughta know, having covered that game 2 years running), and I think the Packers'll get by 'em at the "Brand New Except for the Pillars" Soldier field...and the Vikes ain't coming out of Titletown with one, either. Close, but no.

As for playing Minnesota in that damn plastic dome...feh.

True...some reports were hoping he'd be the last piece in a starting secondary, but most had him coming in on nickel and dime (no pun intended) coverage schemes. Heck, today's Green Bay News-Chronicle talked about how injuries have robbed Westbrook of speed before. They also had this. An excerpt:

"According to reports, Westbrook said he instantly knew the Achilles' tendon had been torn. His left Achilles' tendon ruptured on the artificial surface of Minnesota's Metrodome on Nov. 30, 2000, when Westbrook was with Detroit.

He missed the rest of that season as well as the first six games of 2001."

Westbrook himself said this (WBAY.com...my employer):

"I just cut, and I dropped to the ground," Westbrook recounted later in the locker room. "I knew [it was my Achilles] because it happened before, but I can bounce back and keep fighting."

And as for Gilbert: sure, he's a fan favorite. Who in GB doesn't like fat guys? But truth be told, he's only taken up 1 blocker in recent years, instead of the 2 or 3 it took to stop #93 back in the day.

There's a young man up there named Bobby Jackson from Illinois. Good hitter, good guy, comes from a football family. Love to see him make the Pack secondary...

I could go on for hours and I probably will -

I've got a bad feeling that the Packers will win the division, but with something like a 8-8 or 9-7 record and then get smoked in the first round again.

You guys are totally underestimating the Vikings, Big Time... I think The Bears will be better this season also, depends which Kordell comes out, and Chandler is a competent backup. Lions with the Bears will have an easier schedule because of their poor record last year.

Packers are really lucky they are in the North without the Bucks even with that I don't think it's as clear as day that The Pack will finish over 500

Speaking of Packers, where is Sterling Sharpe and why is it Michael Irving who is showing off stylish suits on ESPN this season? Other than Tom Jackson, he was one of the few reasons left to watch that show.

Sterling Sharpe was let go by ESPN. I forgot the reason, though.

Michael Irvin is his replacement. Irvin was actually pretty decent as an Arena Football studio analyist.

I think Sharpe left after a contract dispute.

Well, I'll be! Looks like Gilbert Brown, despite his full freakin' bicep tear, might try to play after all! (WBAY-TV, Green Bay...my employer)

A Cowboys LB played with a Bicep tear for most of the season one of the recent superbowl year (first agaist the Bills if Im not mistaken) well I guess not that recent. However he was limited in his effectiveness wrapping up on tackles.
As for Gilbert, with one arm he will be half the player he has been in recent seasons, and he was already only taking on one blocker. Rather than the two he would take on in his prime. I just don't see him helping the team in his current condition.

Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath, we shall hunt them down.
Each day we will spill their blood, 'til it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior, and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over, in to true corruption, into our domain.
For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three, and on that day you will reap it.
And we will send you to whatever god you wish.
