Preliminary, subject to change, blah blah blah via IGN, which has a 2 part preview thing-a-mig.
"Current:" ------- A-Train Batista Big Show Booker T. Brock Lesnar Bubba Ray Dudley Chavo Guerrero Chris Beniot Chris Jericho D-Von Dudley Edge Eddie Guerrero Eric Bischoff Goldberg Goldust The Hurricane John Cena Charlie Haas Jazz Johnny Stamboli Kane Kevin Nash Kurt Angle Lance Storm Lita Matt Hardy Rodney Mack Nunzio Randy Orton Rey Mysterio Rhyno Ric Flair Rikishi Rob Van Dam Sable Scott Steiner Sean O'Haire Shawn Michaels Shelton Benjamin Stacy Keibler Stephanie McMahon Steven Richards "Stone Cold" Steve Austin Tajiri Test The Rock Torrie Wilson Triple H Trish Stratus Ultimo Dragon Undertaker Val Venis Victoria
"Legends": Sgt Slaughter Hillbilly Jim Hawk Animal "Rowdy" Roddy Piper The Iron Sheik Nikolai Volkoff George "the Animal Steele "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka (others still in negotation)
Preview explicitaly says "No Palumbo, Nathan Jones, or Hogan." No Palumbo but his pals are on there? Eh.
Dont forget the legends, from the exact same article:
*Sgt Slaughter *Hillbilly Jim *Road Warrior Hawk *Road Warrior Animal *"Rowdy" Roddy Piper *The Iron Sheik *Nikolai Volkoff *George "the Animal Steele *"The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase *Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka
Plus a few more who are "still under negotiation". I'd really be shocked if Andre doesn't wind up in this game, considering his appearance in No Mercy. Also, Hulk Hogan and Nathan Jones are both *not* in the game.
EDIT: Oh, and there's also no Chuck Palumbo for, really, no logical reason. I mean, no one's really going to miss Chuck, but with Nunzio and Stamboli in the game, he does seem like a logical inclusion. Oh well, that's what CAW is for.
EDIT II: I swear none of that was up there when I posted this. >

"So, we've got Uday and Qusay. Now, how about the eapons-way of ass-may estruction-day?" ---The Onion, What Do You Think?, 7.30.03
What the hell? Jamie Noble gets screwed again?! And Christian too? Oooh, that sucks.
-Jag
And who the hell is Chris Beniot?
Roxanne from The Real Cancun on being famous: "I'd rather be known for [dancing topless with my twin sister] instead of being smart or something. There's a million people who are smart. There's only 16 of us who were in Cancun together."
Where the hell is Spanky? You'd think they'd have him if they have Ultimo Dragon. And no Christian?! How the hell am I gonna make a Renegade Faction without him?!
Vh1 and their 100 Sexiest Artists list can go to hell for not having Trent Reznor on there!
N-O-B-L-E. Someone please put that in the FAQ. He wasn't particularlly over in WCW with that name and he's had the K-less name for over a year and still you're not the only one and I don't know why it drives me insane but...oh, yes, the point
My theory is that for all the "updated recently!" stuff IGN says, this is a roster from earlier this year with a couple high profile additions (Ultimo). Guys who were injuried when they planned out the roster (Kidman, Kanyon) or hardcore Velocity/Heat guys (Noble) or maybe not yet signed (Spanky) get left off. With Batista on the roster, they must've picked the guys just before he got hurt.
I'm guessing Steven makes it because he was Victoria's valet and so tangentally important, and Johnny because they occasionaly used him on RAW? Or maybe someone just told the game people "Hey, we're gonna use Stamboli more down the road, so stick him in there." Sable probably took five minutes to create (4 minutes on the breasts, 1 minute on the moves) so that's no biggie.
But Christian, I've got no explaination for that one - if Lance made it, he's got be on there.
The career mode sounds like a winner. Actual faces and heels? Who'da thunk it? I'm starting to really look forward to the game, it's just to bad that EVERYTHING I want to get is coming out in October.
After the last Smackdown, with its seemingly infinite replayability, I promised myself I wouldn't buy the new one since there weren't too many roster additions I couldn't recreate. This review has begun what I'm sure will be a successful attempt to crack my determination and result in my buying this damn game.
I'm hoping that Christian is just an omission in the article.
I'm Mr. Mister. Watch your back, felons! When I get pissed, you get mist!
I hope they get to add Spanky in there. Or at least add in his name for the ring announcer to say. He shouldn't be too hard to create if they put in his glittery shorts.
And what the hell? No Rosey? I want my S.H.I.T., darn it!
Originally posted by Melon' HeadThers probably not a snowballs chance for Zach Gowan to be included in the game, but could he actually be a created wrestler?
If you don't mind it being "Zach Gowen w/ Prostetic Leg" then, yeah. Sure.

What else comes out in October?
Monster Rancher IV and Final Fantasy X-2. Then a few weeks later, Buffy for PS2.
That box cover with Brock angrily clutching Torrie Wilson proves once and for all that the video game industry needs something better than "RP" to show than a game hasn't been rated yet.
Melon Head's mention of Gowan blew my mind for some reason. I don't imagine the thought of having to create the appearance and animations for a one legged guy had crossed a programmers mind until this point. It would be largely cool to see it happen.
That legends thing is kinda weird. Aren't at least half (or most) of those guys in the Legends Of Wrestling games? Just seems odd.
Also, I laugh at Hocking and his girly games. Despite Eddie's mention that Buffy will now be ruining (haha) August, this month still kicks October's ass with Madden 2004, Silent Hill 3, Soul Calibur 2, and "a few weeks later" on 9/9, ESPN NHL Hockey.

Laugh all you like, I like me some games that are actually good. You know? Good. Madden will only run me $25, so that won't be sooo bad, and I'll wait on Soul Calibur for a while. As for the rest of your "cool" games, whatever man.
Last I heard, Buffy was slated for an early November release, so this is a pleasant surprise. Kinda. Now I'll be poor going INTO October. Damn.
I also rented this game, and just returned it. In my opinion it was a great rental, but I'm not going to buy it (even if I had the money). They took plenty of the sounds from the Road Rage game and added tons more.
