for their 1984 cheatliness! Cubs ready to make a move and leave the Pads a shattered mumbling mess!

The ghost of a steam train - echoes down my track
It's at the moment bound for nowhere -
just going round and round
Playground kids and creaking swings -
lost laughter in the breeze
I could go on for hours and I probably will -
but I'd sooner put some joy back
In this town called malice

Ha ha! A three-hitter! Bite that Eyechart Gwosdz!

Oh yes! And a 3-2 win as well? Feel any wrath yet? Any day rueing amongst the Padre faithful? Wrath, hm? Rue?

I just hope Big Choi is working on those grounders to first. I am excited to see the Scrubs making a move in August no less, but fear the curse.

Ho ho! Even an Alfonseca appearance cannot save the Padres from their penance.

Swept! Wrath! Rue!

Enjoy kicking us while we're down.

We're going to own the NL next year.

NEXT YEAR </shakes fist>

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

That's very good, Guru. Us Cubs fans have had that phrase down for many, many, many years!

Feh. That's an ANTHEM for the Red Sox Nation.

Let's be honest: Red Sox Nation's motto is 'They'll rope us in, fuck us over, and we'll like it damn it, just like our parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren liked/will like it?' This is what happens when I come to the realization that if the playoffs began today, John Burkett should be the #2 starter.

Cubs, White Sox and Red Sox fans unite. Its time to overthrow the German Government and re-install our beloved Kaiser. Remember, Kaiser ='s World Series victories.

You can say anything you want today, but I can say 1984... the scoreboard never lies.

An excerpt from game 5. Rich Gossage on the mound: "It's a one-hopper to Nettles. He throws to Wiggins, and the Padres win the National League pennant. OH, DOCTOR!!" (Thanks to Jerry Coleman.)

Good lord, please don't bring that up... I remember punching a wall when Garvey hit the home run to win Game 4, and then watching the ball dribble through Leon Durhams legs in game 5.... bad memories!!!

I was at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium for game 5. It's still the best birthday present I've ever gotten.

You can thank California's new Governor Peter Ueberroth for hosing the Cubs out of home field....

Well, the way I see it, the Big Three of Failure break down like this:

Cubs: "Wait til next year. When we can all come out again and get drunk in the sunshine and pretend to watch a baseball game. GO SAMMY!"

White Sox: "Screw the Cubs. We know we will never win, we'll always be mediocre, always be the forgotten team/fans in the city, but if we can somehow screw the Cubs over, it's all right. .500 for life!"

Red Sox: "The team's cursed. The fans know it. And giving us Byung-Hung Kim as a closer down the stretch is just trying to add diversity to the list of names that haunt our dreams."

Yes, I was driving to a meeting when I heard this and was yelling at Mike & Mike to follow that up with "you say you're not fire him tomorrow, so how long does he have to turn this around?
