While checking out the standings this morning I saw that the Cubs are in second place in their division 2.5 games out. The White Sox are 1 game out of first in their division. The Red Sox are 2.5 back in their division and up a half game in the wild card race. If somehow all 3 of them can make the playoffs, would that be able to be seen as a sign of the end times being nigh? And even with 3 out of 8 playoff teams would there be any chance of ending the curses that have owned these teams for 85 years or more now?

If you see a White Sox-Red Sox ALCS, with the Cubs in the NLCS, then panic. Until then, there is plenty of time for all involved teams to choke their way completely out of the playoff race.

No doubt. As a serious Cubs fan I am excited, but realize it's still August and there's plenty of time for them to blow 10 straight in September.

Screw all that pessimism. I said it to my friends in April, and I'm sticking with it no matter how ludicrous it sounds. This year...Red Line World Series. White Sox vs. Cubs. The Ball Mall vs. the Friendly Confines. Drunken yuppies molesting women vs. drunken losers rushing the field. Winner takes all and the losers get mocked for another hundred years by the fans of the winning team.

I can see the White Sox and the Red Sox making the post-season, but I still can't see the Cubs making it. I've written off the Royals enough this season that I should have learned my lesson by now, but I think the White Sox win the Central, the Great Satan Mariano Rivera appears to be showing mortality, so the AL East and Wild Card are still potentially there for Boston, Seattle has Benitez, so that should shoot them in the foot down the stretch, and Oakland's management has stated in the past that the only thing they care about is making the post-season, not winning the World Series.
As for the Cubs, I can't see them winning the NL Central, and even if they do, they have to go through the Giants and the Braves in order to get to the Series.

Cubs, White Sox and Red Sox fans unite. Its time to overthrow the German Government and re-install our beloved Kaiser. Remember, Kaiser ='s World Series victories.

The Cubbies are 4-2 against the Giants this year. They took two of three from them at home, and two of three from them at PacBell. I think that the only two games the Giants won were started by Schmidt, and he can only pitch, what, twice in a five or seven game series? Maybe three times in a seven gamer?

Bet everything you have on that fourth team.

I think the Red Sox can do alot of damage this year. Not to us Sox fans, but to other teams(I'm the really positive fan). I think they have a shot at the World Series, and winning it! IMHO the Cubs will have trouble with Houston, I'll take Houston. I would like to see KC win, but the White Sox have the talent to snag the division. I would love to see any of the three win it, someone has got to end the torment their fans have gone through all these years. And if there is an all Chi-town World Series, every baseball fan wins(Somewhat).

Actually, the end would be more along the lines of Brewers/Mets NLCS and Tigers/Devil Rays ALCS now...

Perhaps, but Phil Nevin is no peach at third, either, and the shortstops were all inexperienced or crappy (Arias). Klesko's not great either, though. But if I had to pick Klesko and Tino, I'd take Klesko every time and just live with the defense.
