I was just roaming around the sight, as I do every few months to see which films are offensive to the Christian faith. I noticed RAW mentioned and thought this may be of interest to some. The show is 29 July 2002, which saw the jump of the UnAmericans and Jericho and the mysterious attack on HBK.
I never realised how offensive 'punk clothing' (Jeff Hardy?) and 'booze' (in the audience, mind) were.

I suppose I'm not surprised. Wrestling will never be a favorite of organized religions, and WWE isn't helping its case any (not that they really SET OUT to be saints or anything) by some of the content they've shown over the years.
But Mick Foley actually brought up a great point in his `Foley is Good' book: look on practically any television show with a large following, from Cheers to The Simpsons to soap operas, and even movies such as the supposed children's film Home Alone, and you know what? There's just as many instances of alcohol use, violence, racism, religion-bashing, sex, etc., etc. on many of these programs.
Yet, during Cheers' amazing run on primetime television, and through its syndication today, how many times to religious/morality groups attack THAT program? How many sponsors threatened to pull funding from Home Alone (and WERE their sponsors from Home Alone? Can't recall...)
Anyways, my point is this - I can't see the higher-ups in organized religion praising wrestling, but perhaps they should be admitting that tons of television shows do very similar things.

Hey, at least there weren't any murders or suicides! (Mick Foley thumbs up)
20 uses of the three/four letter word vocabulary, mostly by one of the announcers
Hmm, "puppies" has more than three and four letters, so maybe they're talking about JR damning people to hell.
All right, I'm enjoying Rhyno's "man-beast" gimmick: He keeps his hair long, wears full-body wrestling tights with a big "R" on the back and uses the "Rhino Gore" as his finishing move. Can't you imagine him watching the Discovery Channel one day while tossing around possible gimmicks and having one of those "Hey, wait a second!" epiphanies during a rhino segment?
To spruce things up, the WWF should give Undertaker and Kane last names -- like Undertaker and Kane O'Brien, the O'Brien Brothers -- just for comedy's sake. Hopefully the door's still open.
RVD is approaching the always-exciting "The crowd loves him, but he's not getting a major push yet" phase which helps makes wrestling so much fun. It only happens once every few years -- Stone Cold in '96, The Rock in '98, Shawn Michaels in '93 and so on. -- ESPN's Bill Simmons back in 2001
If you look around the site for films, though, it is fantastic as to what will get a film low marks. Gslaxy Quest, in my opinion, one of the best family orientated comedies in the past few years, gets punished for Sigourney Weaver's cleavage.

Well, capalert.com is clearly run by a bunch of prudish watchdogs.
I try to be a devout Christian and I think I have a pretty good grip on Scriptures. Here's my thoughts:
*Honestly, what is so wrong with punk clothing?! I don't engage in punk culture nor am I a punk, but I don't find punk clothing to be offensive at all.
*What's wrong with threats and physical wrestling? The Bible had many stories of threats and physical fighting (which included death) and I find nothing wrong with it. I learned from those stories. Although there really is no purpose to wrestling in a moral of the story sense, I find nothing offensive as a Christian when two guys act out a fight.
*Booze? Jesus Christ himself had booze and was the common recereation drink of the time in Palestine (see "Wedding at Cana" in the Gospels). What is wrong with booze is if you get drunk on it.
*"Only cheating if you get caught." --Only part of the heel announcer's character. Duh.
*I do have a problem with cameras focusing on genitalia and some explicit sex scenes (if there are any). Then again, it is only a show.
People, don't let these morons tell you what you should or should not watch. Again, I place my faith in God but I generally I don't find anything despicable about RAW as an adult Christian. If I had a young six year-old child, I'd probably tape it and let him watch certain parts that aren't as vulgar.
That's not saying I don't have a problem with RAW as a wrestling fan...

I wonder what the religious groups think of WWE marketing a shirt that has a cross on the front and "All Things Are Possible" on the back...with all the profits going directly into Vince McMahon's pocket.
WWE vs God: I thought this thread was about a match for SummerSlam, I so think that "F" will make a run-in and cost "WWE" the match. "Your winner and still Undisputed Creator of the World.....God!"
IMHO I don't think God will send me to hell because I'm a fan of the new theater of the absurd.
My Sunday school teacher back in the day used to make the Bible more understandable to us youngsters by using wrestling analogies. For example, Virgil fighting back against Ted Dibiase was like Jesus throwing the moneylenders out of temple.

As a Christian male, I don't have problems at all with the WWE product, but there are times I'll just change the channel over. Of course, there's reality programming on virtually every other station, so it's damned if you do, damned if you don't...
I won't recommend Raw or Smackdown to my friends. I continue to watch, as I've been a wrestling fan since Wrestlmania 6.
I will NOT let my kids watch it, though. Faith knows this, and while she will watch it with me whenever we're together, she refuses to let the kids see it.
Steven & Faith... Wedding day cometh July 24th, 2004
What I find interesting is that capalert: 1. only rated one episode, which isn't available on video 2. doesn't rate TV shows in that same list; hmm what a good suggestion
FOLLOWUP EDIT: I emailed Capalert about that, and the response was that it was a special request along with some HBO Specials, a Power Rangers, and Dilbert TV episode. They will eventually cover popular TV shows after garnering some support.

As another Christian on this board, I can easily say there is plenty of stuff on the TV that is unwatchable. But what's pointless about the website is that in goes into detail with every single point that they feel is "un-Godly". What's the point? They should just say "It's violent, crude, and immoral." and leave it at that. Underlining minutia, even the WWE, doesn't solve anything.

Texas Longhorn games must get a truely low rating from these guys. This is why Christians get a bad name. Do I watch Raw when trips is humping a corpse? No. I turn the junk off. But I see little in this show that's worse than, say, survivor. As a Christian, I can handle it and it doesn't change the depth of my faith
I don't get all this "as a Christian" stuff. You don't have to be religious to be offended by necrophilia and excessive violence. I don't think being an Athiest predisposes anyone to be more tolerant of perversion and abhorrent immorality.
I guess I'm non-practising, since I've distanced myself from Christianity as a knee-jerk reaction to all the boy-raping and slave-taming that pollutes its history, but I still consider myself somewhat spiritual. However, even in the holiest of my mindsets, I don't get all worked up over everything I see. I think artistic expression is one of the greatest things we can do, and that God encourages it.
These freak groups say, repress your desires in your everyday life, repress them in your thought, repress them in the fake make-believe world you write about or sing about or perform in, and then one day you, yes you, will avoid eternal fiery damnation as the devil's personal fucktoy.
I would, for example, play a mean character in a film or a play without thinking twice, and would not hesitate to curse. It does not offend me when I am watching something that is entertainment, such as a movie, and someone is violent or abusive or misogynistic. These are characters, simply showing someone who is a negative person doing negative things is not necessarily promoting that character's vice per se. These religious groups want to see things on television where people act like they wish they could act. But no one walks around wishing peace unto everyone and never cursing and never becoming angry. When you offer something up for public consumption it has to be something people can relate to. No one can relate to a movie, or a wrestling show, where all that happens to the non-drinking, non-swearing, non-angry, celibate caricatures is marginalized, nonsensical anomaly.
The position that all things everywhere forever must reflect the one, genetically unrealistic view of Christian fundamentalism is immature and, I think, laughably so.

I guess they saw Nash or Michaels doing the Clique hand-sign and thought it was mano cornuto? It's not because the thumb isn't tucked in but I guess they couldn't see that.

When i saw this headline i thought it was about Triple H. Remmeber in this arena "I am God" Incidently in our wrestling organisation we have a GAME but he doesn't get injured as much. He's getting better by the way probably because he's lost some of thta muscle mass. Triple H to reatin at SS!

Did anyone watch? I live in CAnada, so I have to wait until TSN plays it before RAW on Monday. I just want to know if they actually show Lisa's tantrum? Please don't spoil the rest for me.
