Good gawd amighty! That opens up the road to Gold-ville now doesn't it BrewDood?
We gotta beat Finland first, and that sure as hell isn't a 'gimmie'. After THIS upset, NO game is a gimmie. If Canada DOES win and go on to play Belarus, they'd better not make the same mistake the Swedes made.
Here's a stat that might help to put this upset into perspective. The listed odds of Belarus winning the gold medal in Men's Ice Hockey is 10 MILLION to 1.
Obviously, this tournament is now as crooked as figure skating. :>
This, without a doubt, will allow either the Americans or the Canucks to win the gold medal, satisfying Wayne Gretzky and/or Gary Bettman. :>

So, does this put even more pressure on the Canadian team to win tonight? Can you imagine if they lost to Finland with the gold medal game right *there* for them?
I have officially turned my back on my country. I haven't been that far on the edge of my seat during a hockey game since the Hurricanes/New Jersey series last year during the playoffs.

If this is true, I hope a lot of people were smart enough to put just a one or two dollar bet down on Belarus.
Sweden, the team who ripped up the C Pool, got beaten by Belarus!! Meaning, the winner of Canada-Finland (right now, 1-0 Canada!) gets to face Belarus!
Now more than ever, BELARUS RULES!!!
Now only if I could have watched this miracle, STUPID COLLEGE LECTURES.
...Some fear the Pink... ...But many fear....THE MOUNTIE! (He's handsome, he's brave, and he's strong, you know)
That Swedish goalie should be given the Colombian soccer player treatment. He biffed an easy center-ice shot and Team Belarus now goes on to face Der Canuckleheads, winner to face the winner of the Russia/USA rematch. Boy, that C pool looks really weak now. :)

GO BELARUS!
Now, now, now! No back-turning on your country!!
Besides - Canada WINS! Canada WINS!
Bring on Belarus! (And our boys better not overlook them, either - if they can shock one team, they can shock another. They need to come out and do what the US did to Germany - pound them into the ground the first two periods, get a 3 or 4 goal lead, then just play solid D for the rest of the game)
That US/Russia game's gonna be a beauty!
Real nail-biter of a game last night. The Canadians were all over the Finns for the first two periods, but Herme was outstanding in the Finnish goal and thanks to him it was 1-0 for a long time - Yzerman FINALLY made it 2-0 in the second, but the Canucks got a little lazy after scoring the second goal and the Finns came right back with one of their own. After that, it was 20 minutes of nail-biting in the 3rd, with the Canucks just trying to cover their lead. Not thrilled with that approach, especially since the Finns came REALLY close to tying a couple of times, but a win is a win is a win, and it's on to Belarus tomorrow!
This was a killer game and Brew Guy's ethusiasm is cool to see. Gold for Canada....GOLD!
As for Sweden and Belarus....man, Sweden just couldn't break this game wide open and Belarus wins off of Tommy Salo's shoulder. Hope he doesn't carry that goal w/ him when he gets back in net for Edmonton.
This must be pretty embarrassing to all the teams who employed Demers all these years. How stringent is a hiring process when a functional illiterate can be hired several times?
