Comments such as 'I feel sorry for people who bought the PPV' or 'Why show this match when you made people pay for it' have never really quite set right with me. The main purpose of a PPV, in my opinion, is to give the boys a chance to 'put it on the line' without commercial breaks or as many interviews to break the action.. taking 3-5 minutes of in ring action to 10 or so, 20 if you're in a main event. But then when they give me HHH/Angle on the PPV and on Raw, people want to put this as some type of negative thing towards the value of the PPV. I will admit that the match on Raw honestly struck me as the better of the two, primarily because of the last minute or so being really hot, but it didn't make me upset over buying the PPV too.
Given that 'back in the day' there used to be title matches on free TV (and title changes at that too) because of the ratings war and all, why is it that having the #1 contendership change on a TV show is going to be that big of a deal.. particularly when nearly everyone saw HHH winning it back or it becoming a three way somehow..
Any insight on why these types of statements are made, and why I should care?
As long as it entertains me, I couldn't care any less if they re-did a whole ppv the next night on RAW. Besides, the audience for RAW is much larger than the PPV audience so even if people are mad about seeing the re-match the next night, they are in the minority. If it's good I'll pay to see it, and if they give it away for free later, that's like getting a two for one deal, so I'm game.
Yeah, not too many long matches on TV. Maybe the last one, on Raw. Whereas those last three at NoWayOut, that was, what, almost an hour total between those three alone?
Well, jim, the basic thought process is that: Why should I pay for something when I get it free the next night? A lot of people want meaning to the ppv too, so there's also the "I paid $30 to get an angle advanced" So there.
Me myself, Ill take a long well paced well fought exciting match anywhere I can get it. I wasnt pissed because I knew they would get HHH his shot back somehow. You know Angle and HHH are going to entire the whole month until WM and that makes for good TV.
Lyrically Im supposed to represent, Im not only a client Im the player-president.....
Dave Bautista (I guess)... well, he got his last name. They could have just called him "Dave". His gimmick would be spending half of his promo time telling the fans how great the next issue of his newsletter is.
