Checking the PS2 release schedule, there is a _huge_ pileup of interesting games coming up next month:
* August 5th - Silent Hill 3 (the latest shoot-things-that-go-bump-in-the-night thriller)
* August 5th - Chaos Legion (not an A-list title, but looks like a decent Devil May Cry-style sleeper)
* August 12th - Madden 2004 (need I say more)
* August 12th - Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution (new characters, better AI, better graphics, expanded Kumite, Virtua Fighter 10th Anniversary mode, and it ships at $20 -- keen)
* August 19th - Hunter: The Reckoning - Wayward (expanded and reportedly improved sequel to the Xbox/Cube shooter)
* August 25th - Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly (more survival horror, and this one looks good -- now if Tecmo would just release an upgraded Deception game...)
* August 25th - Monster Rancher 4 (it's a Monster Rancher game, hence I'll be on it like white on rice)
* August 25th - Time Crisis 3 (arcade shooter port, with positive previews)
* August 26th - Soul Calibur II (definitely getting the PS2 version, especially since none of my friends have Cubes or Xboxes)
And just to wind the month up:
* September 2nd - Rugby 2004 (substantially revamped and enhanced)
I might as well forward my mail to my local Electronics Boutique.

I was thinking I'll take my birthday off (18th) and play Soul Calibre, but MR4 in August... My wife won't let me have the PS2 until October at the earliest.
IT's ABOUT GOD DAMNED TIME...I was just about to post a thread about how there hasn't been a worthwile Playstation game out in months and how I was starting to lean back towards computer games for entertainment.
Off topic, but Tino Tonitini.... this must be the oddest signature ever, a pic of Manson and an add for your webpage about a tv-show for 8-year olds. Plus the picture of the little kid as your avatar and that you apparently named yourself after one of the kids on the show (based on your website), its just weird..... a Wiener totally devoted to a little kids show with a Manson pic and quote (I assume).

I went poking around for any Monster Rancher 4 info and the release dates are all over the place for the NA release. Apparently it's due in mid-August in Japan, so seeing it 2 weeks later fully localized isn't likely going to happen.
On the bright side, the improvements in MR4 look to really address the criticisms/requests for the series. Raising multiple monsters, customizable ranch like back in MR1, and tag team battling (assuming it does make it in) should breath new life back into the games after the somewhat lackluster MR3.

Argh -- looks like MR4 may be delayed, but the date change happened within the last couple of days. (Nothing unusual for the gaming world, but frustrating nonetheless. As they say in the wrestling world, "card subject to change.")
EVERYBODY had August 25-26 listed for the US MR4 as of last week. At the moment, checking the revisions:
* EB lists "Monster Rancher 4" as 10/10/03 and "Monster Rancher Action Adventure 4" (same box art) as 8/20/03. Since the EBGames web site is notoriously buggy, I won't hold my breath waiting for the correction.
* GameStop lists "Monster Rancher Action Adventure 4" as 10/3/03.
* Amazon/TRU lists "Monster Rancher 4" as 10/18/03.
Go figure.
Fatal Frame 2 (Tecmo's other big fall title) is now listed as 8/21 (EB), 11/3 (GS) and not at all (TRU).

Originally posted by Tino TonitiniI would like to see Sega's Top Skater released for the PS2, you know that arcade game? Is it even possible for it to go on any console???
Really? I'm not sure how it would translate... you kinda need the skateboard controller for it to be any fun. Then again, DDR doesn't seem to be hindered by using pads... I just don't think it'd work as well.
